Spectacular lunch, brilliant location and both the food and service were exceptional. We loved it and will return.
Great view and service, food presentation is beautiful but limited selection 😊
Chose to take my partner here to celebrate her getting a new job, and it was a great experience! From the friendly waiting staff who helped take off our jackets and even helped to put our food on our bowls, to the amazing food and dessert choices, we had a fantastic evening. Will definitely be coming back during lunch time to try out the Yum Cha menu.
Very generous servings
The service and the food was excellent an amazing view on the lake made our anniversary unforgettable.
We had lunch on a wintry Sunday, and chose from the dim sum/yum cha menu. The food was the standout winner here, with the usual suspects (xao long bao) and some extra special items too. Great wine list too.
The room a bit quiet for a yum cha experience; I'm used to a rowdy dig-in affair, but it was lovely for just the two of us.
Service was polite and professional, and very helpful.
I'd recommend for a special occasion, or for something a bit different. Overlooking the lake makes for an all round pleasant experience.
Ordered at 7.30. Received our drinks that we ordered at 8.20. Received only one main that was ordered. We left at 9.00pm, asking that they take off the meal that didn't arrive from the receipt. Staff came back with the meal we didn't receive in a take away container and expecting us to pay for it. When asked why this didn't come out to the table, the staff member said they have been hassling the kitchen asking for them to hurry up with the meal. Eventually removed from the receipt. The ambience is great, and you get to watch the chefs make some of the food - one of which had his hands in front of him, tapping as if he was bored while we waited for the one meal that didn't come. I attended sun kitchen upon it first opening, and it was great. It's a shame the way it currently operates.
Some meals are too salty.
let customer choose small dishes and suggest some special.
If you are looking for a place to dine with a beautiful atmosphere good food and great service this is a great place to try.
The location is amazing and very relaxing around the lake I would defiantly go again on a Sunday to try more dishes with a bigger group.
It was lovely. Just a little bright in the lighting. If not for that it would be 4 or 5 stars for everything
Very overpriced, food not very high quality. Excruciatingly slow service.
For something in this price range and location I expected a lot better.
Realise it was mothers day but we were put in a function room off the main dining area with no atmosphere, no music, slow service. Felt like we were at a wedding..
Have been here before. Nice decor and food. Definitely on the more luxurious end for smaller dishes. Nice ambience and staff. Service for food can be a touch slow but otherwise a very good experience.
service was poor
ambience was horrible bright lights could not appreciate view
another great experience at Sun Kitchen. enjoy the attention of the staff and their great service. Thanks Emily
Set menu for 4 people was pricey. Food was mediocre. Nothing special. Dessert that came with the set menu was disappointing- 2 very small jellies to share amongst 4 people. Service was 5 star! Awesome lake view.
My favorite restaurant in Melbourne. Every dish well presented. Staff very friendly
We went to Sun Kitchen for dinner as they were having 50% off their a la carte menu. Had there not been the discount, Sun Kitchen would be too expensive to go for a normal dinner and would have a to a special dinner only. We were greeted downstairs and told to go upstairs where an attendant will be waiting to take us to our table. We went upstairs and the staff upstairs had no idea what our table was or why we were sent upstairs. Food portions were very generous and we had left overs to take home. Food was tasty enough but I am not sure if it was that tasty to justify the full price. They has a menu which was a QR code that you had to scan then scroll up and down as well as across several webpages to order - it was not the most friendly to use. Staff were efficient in bringing out dishes, topping up our water and clearing used plates. It was a pleasant experience but I am not sure if I would return at the full price menu prices.
Worth the visit but expensive. Great day time outlook over Albert Park Lake
Great food but extremely dated and poorly presented restaurant for what is an attempt at high end dining. No concept of high end service with online order and no description of dishes. Worst of all so called vegetarian food has meat and chicken stock.
I’ve been to Sun Kitchen once before and it was great. This time it was the poorest experience we’ve ever had at any restaurant. The service was terrible. Half of our food came out on time but We had to ask on 3 seperate occasions (Including the manager) on where the rest of our order was. We waited for the rice to arrive but the rest of our food had gone cold.
We then ordered a glass of wine. We had to ask 4 times when it was arriving!! We could see it sitting on the bar but it took well over 20 min to arrive.
Incredibly disappointed in the experience! Wouldn’t recommend to anyone!
It’s a great place to go for fantastic Cantonese and Sze Chun food.
Great view of the Albert Park lake with beautiful swans swimming around. Sun kitchen provide great and detail services. Especially the waitress Ruyi. She is attentive and has an eye for detail. Food is excellent and worth the trip to Albert Park!
Came for my mums bday, had two bottles of wine and a lot of food between 10 people and spent less than 1000, which is very reasonable for the quality of the food, service and ambience. Will be returning for sure
Fantastic hospitality, ambience, Lakeview, romantic and family environment both available. Food variety and presentation optimum. Mask changing opera was interesting to watch. Overall my partner and I enjoyed fine dining there.
Food was fantastic. The only drawback is that the dishes were served all at once that the food will get cold quickly. It will be ideal that the food be served two or three dishes the most each time!!!
Loved the wonton
Good food and service
For sure will come again
Staff were very attentive and food was great. A bit on the pricey side but I’d say it was worth it.:)
Very good, hope they can introduce duck to the menu.
We enjoyed the atmosphere, scenery and the dishes that we ate. However, we felt very pressured to purchase live seafood for $999.00 each - very pressured. We have eaten all over the world and have never seen such prices. Further, we were double charged for one item (didn't realize until we called to get our deposit back), we were not charged a surcharge for holidays and all of this was used to net off of our bill because we called - trying to get our deposit back. This took 2 days was spent settling that out and another 3 days for payment - THIS JUST SHOULDNT HAPPEN.. It's the little things that will cause us to come back. Its these little things that make us not want to come back.
Perfecf ambiance for a romantic dinner. Food was yummy and big serving. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is easy to find. Sun Kitchen is highly recommended.
Missed food order and missed take away item. The food was ok, but they need to improve their service
First time here for anniversary. Ordered feast for 2. Generous portion. The souvenir of face mask purse is useful. Everything is fine but need exceptional things to earn the highest ratings.
Great food, service & view. Would highly recommend.
Excellent love the food and location
Great views of the lake. Get there before sunset. Ample parking. Good spacing. Food wise, good selection of Cantonese and Sichuan foods. With the wine, I didn't want to kill my taste buds with anything too firey. I liked the Crab meat with egg white and scallops best. Delicate. Light yet tasty. Went well with the 1999 House of Aras. Steep markup though. Corkage of $50 is also more than other establishments. Happy to support local at this time though.
Excellent service - the team were attentive, made excellent recommendations and professional. Food was delicious. Lovely location, looking out over Albert Lake.
Food was great
I had a good experience , the food was emasculate 👌
One of the best chinese restaurant we have been to. Food was delicious, fantastic views of the lake and ambience, upmarket restaurant.
awesome food, awesome service, great location, went on a Sunday lunch and wasn't busy, but still had a great atmosphere.
