Fantastic food and service. Excellent location - amazing sea view. A bit noisy but manageable. Very good wine list . Reasonable prices. Will recommend without doubts.

A very authentic and interested waitress, great oysters, epic setting and pretty good mains. The Stokehouse is an institution and the owners work hard to deliver on the promise.

Seafood is good, meat is horrible. Paid $55 for a piece of meat that was half fat and cooked terribly. Asked for medium which it was however it was very chewy. Extremely overpriced. Service was not great either, very slow. When we paid the bill the waiter asked “would you like me to bring you change”. That is possibly the rudest thing to ask. Wouldn’t waste my money going here at all. Much better places for a nice dinner across Melbourne.

Nice spot but a 2 hr dining window is not long enough to enjoy a casual lunch on a Sunday.

Had dinner once and lunch twice in last few months, lunch this Sunday was less than ideal as it as very noisy and difficult to have a conversation, service and food was good. Perhaps this is not a good choice for people over 60

First time I'd dined here since the rebuild and I was very impressed. Whole group were very happy with their meals, loved the 'raw bar' options, quality of produce, presentation and flavours were amazing throughout all dishes we tried. Service also very good, had some great cocktails in the bar following the meal too.

We had a 2:30 booking and didn’t get to the table until 2:50 then handed menus at 3:15. All of that would have been fine had our waitress not basically thrown the dessert menus at us and said we had to order quickly, eat quickly and get off the table as they were turning the table over at 6pm. Not only was there a table next to us well behind us but this was not our issue. The staff rushed us in the end and as a consequence no one ordered dessert. I complained to the GM on the day and whilst apologetic it left a very poor impression for all six of us. I won’t be rushing back.

A terribly disappointing experience, after the warmth and character of its earlier incarnation: they seem to be trading on their reputation. Really poor service, overpriced and over-prepared food, bad coffee, appallingly noisy. This is a real tourist trap. What a waste of a great location! Melbourne can do so much better. We were sorry we'd taken our overseas friends there.

(We booked online for 4 people, 2 weeks ahead, and arrived on time, but were shown to a table for 3. How hard is it to get even these things right?)

This is a fine dining experience and you expect to pay for this type of environment. The food was eloquently presented and very tasty. A good selection of wines were available.
The outlook from the dining room is first class and the service provided matches this.
Overall a very good experience

Great lunch upstairs for a girlfriends Bachelorette. Setting was lovely, food was nicely presented and tasty - but a bit expensive for what was served. Downstairs - don't bother (very rude obnoxious drunk crowd)

Lovely place along the waterside. Had abit of difficulty finding the place though as there wasn’t any sign posted for Stokehouse that I could see - only for Pontoon. Service was warm and attentive. Bright and airy inside and place was busy for Friday lunch. Food was nice and fresh. Was a little surprised by the bill though as when we ordered the main (market fish) we were told it was about $40. We were charged $90 - they must have assumed we wanted a serving for each person but would have been nice to clarify with us first.

Gorgeous setting and interior design. Overpriced menu.
Dishes sounded enticing and were beautifully presented, but flavours were too complex. The black sausage rolls tasted weird (and my heritage is German, my mother routinely fried black sausage as a snack after school).
Pity to say this - I wouldn’t recommend it. Our bill was $266 for two at lunch and we only had one glass of champagne each and no dessert!

The only criticism I have with the Stokehouse is that the Bartenders can be slightly more friendly and perhaps a service with a smile. I find that night they were not happy and borderline grumpy, my friends agree as well. As a first time comer since the rebuilt of Stokehouse, it's important that the new and past patrons are happy with the bar service. It's a good first impression.

The Dining Staff service were excellent and so is the food.

Overall a disappointing experience. While the food was really nice the noise level was too extreme. We had to scream even though we sat right next to each other to make a conversation. The service is very impersonal. It felt though as they couldn't wait for us to leave. We had a very special birthday to celebrate and werent allowed to bring our own cake. Fair enough, but the birthday person didn't even receive a small compliment from the kitchen. That seems very stingy to me, especially for such a deer restaurant. We won't be coming back.

Most of the evening was good but let down by the main course (Swordfish) being almost raw necessitating it being returned to the kitchen.
The staff managed the issue well but for such a prestige restaurant it was a fairly fundamental error.

The restaurant had no options for vegan and limited vegetarian. We were not allowed to serve the vegan birthday cake for my sister's 60th birthday that we had brought with us. Service was good but it was difficult to hear the specials over the noise from wooden floors and conversation.

We went for an anniversary years ago, not long before the stokehouse burnt down. That was a great experience in an older style building and lovely romantic dinner for two. It's now a very upbeat restaurant with a minimalist layout. As a result it was noisy and the service was a little disjointed. However, the food remains excellent. If it was just the food I would rate it 4.5/5 however at these prices it's also the experience and it just wasn't up to that standard.

Apart from lack of signage the refurbishment is great. The menu is exciting but the steak we had was sinuey and tough even served medium rare. The service was friendly and attentive. I think asking for recommendations from the chef in future would be a better choice. I would like to give it another try but as we live in Sydney it won't be soon. Overall a good night out.

I truly believe that the Stokehouse is no longer what it used to be. Gone is the variety on the menu, the service with a genuine smile! Replacing these are the exorbitant cost of both food on offer and beverages and the portion sizes of these - many fond memories but this is what they shall remain. The only positive is the view.

We had been saving this for a special occasion as it has been recommended by colleagues, however overal we felt like unwanted guests. Paying $300 for two people we would expect a level of service that reflects that higher range of pricing.

Upon arrival we were ignored by the bar staff and waited a long while for two drinks to be served to us.

Whilst dining, requests for adjustments to be made due to allergies were ignored meaning my partner ate my starter and no accompanying bread was provided to suit allergies (notified of dietary requirements 4 days prior).

Voucher payments were not deducted from our bill even though this had been discussed with front of house staff. On top of this there were 2 $30 additional charges added that were not pre arranged.

Too many mishaps resulted in an overall disappointing experience.
