Stokehouse St Kilda Beach
Beautiful views, excellent food and an elegant environment embody what you'll find at Stokehouse Restaurant. The restaurant's position on the sea makes it a wonderful haven for fresh seafood. Enjoy sand crab, squid, oysters and a variety of fish dishes with flavorful sauces.
The menu at Stokehouse Restaurant includes local fare such as chicken and grilled beef, with sides that place an emphasis on fresh. Indulge in some pickled beetroot, char-grilled kale or Jap pumpkin as a complement to your meal. Pair your meal and dessert with one of several tasty cocktails prepared by skilled bartenders.
Stokehouse St Kilda beach is a favourite whenever we come to Melbourne. Never disappoints. Excellent food and service, extraordinary wine list (with great sommelier!) and fabulous location. Another great lunch.
This should be 4.5. Its very very good - I've been half a dozen times and I come back for a reason. But at around $350 for a dinner for two, you want it to be perfect every time. I guess not every time can be perfect, but it is still an amazing "must go" place to share with someone and always remember. I'll go back again.
My first visit to the “new build” Stokehouse. The feel of the old Stokehouse, has been kept but improved upon. The Service by Will and others was everything you would want. Very sensitive to the finer things. The food was so good. The seared Tuna from the seafood section of the menu was an out of this world (for our tastes) experience. When back in Melbourne would love to go again to experience more of the menu. And after this review I hope that I find a booking slot.
I was disappointed with the food, very underwhelming for the price
We had a lovely dinner. From the moment we walked in the service was incredible. The Seafood Charcuterie was our favorite dish.
The writing on the menu could be larger for those of us who see very well.
Corporate gift voucher totalling $300 made for a very nice dining experience.
Although not aware at the time of booking that a 6.30pm sitting was limited to 2 hours, the service was excellent and we were more than content with the 3 courses and drinks served, all within budget.
We were very happy with our choices and everything was delicious.
Beautiful food, fantastic service, and a wonderful evening.
Examplary customer service rendered to my guests and myself..Amazed by the choices in the menu...Provides a breathtaking view while dining. Highly satisfied
Service great, fish was not cooked properly but had that comped so all in all a good time
It was super busy and took 30 minute to get our first drink! Food great. So noisy though. Great view and location
Fantastic place. Love the new setup.
Wine selection was sensational well dine to the team and thank you for the wine room tour.
Great work guys
Well done to the staff of this restaurant. My partner and I was delighted by the view and the atmosphere, food was just the right size for people wanting to be satisfied by rich and delicious food. Well recommen for dates with a love one.
Beautiful food, service and view! Can't ask for more!
Cookie cutter experience with average food. Service was good. Wine selection ok.
Fabulous shaped table to fit 7 of us.
Wonderful food, wine and service. We were there celebrating 2 birthdays which was well done without being a fanfare.
A great experience at an old favourite... the seafood was sensational and the staff exceptional with great service knowledge and personality to boot.
The wine list was also outstanding as well as the sommelier.
Perfect place to go before the Palais
Service was very poor compared to other visits. Maybe due to not enough staff. Drinks waiter was good.
Service was exceptional, great ambiance and perfect for a special occasion. Main menu lovely but a little limited.
Food very salty & expensive for the quality. Dessert also very disappointing with the balance completely out of proportion. In summary over prices and over rated- would definitely not go back
Great spot and service, and good menu. But the food was so salty I couldn't finish it.
It was my first time at the new Stokehouse and we thought it was so well done without being a replica of the past. Great location, venue and experience. Definitely a special occasion restaurant.
Great food and service at this iconic Melbourne venue. Stunning day!
Lovely staff from the moment we stepped through the door. Our waitress had an excellent knowledge of the menu which helped my partner choose his meal easily, as he has some specific dietary requirements. The food and wine were excellent. We had fish entree and main meals, all beautifully cooked (where appropriate) and presented. Desserts were completely at the top of the yummy scale! Its not a cheap place to eat by any means, but great for a special occasion. We were heading off to a concert at the Palais after our meal, so the 6 o'clock sitting was ideal. Would definitely go back.
Great long lunch overlooking the bay. Exceptional food. Particularly like that each entree and main dish could be split and staggered so that both people dining could try each one. Special thanks to our lovely waiter Nino and Somm Gavin for the interesting and different wine pairings for each dish.
The food was average. We did expect a lot after reading the reviews. We were very underwhelmed. Great view tho.
A guaranteed perfect day out that always seems to turn into night.
Food portions small. But lovely overall. Staff a little stiff.
We love this place so much! I would love to see more shellfish on the menu though....such as fresh crayfish, bugs and scallops.. It's already delicious and I'm just wishful thinking..
Great food but unfortunately the staff seemed dis-interested on a quiet Monday afternoon.
Given the price you pay at Stokehouse there is a reasonable expectation of good service. Unfortunately we waited ages to be seated, despite having a booking and being told the table would be ready in two minutes. We had to ask for menus, bread - pretty much everything. The food was pretty flavourless and was a massive disappointment for the price.
Only if you had never been before, once is enough. It has lost something in the re build
We went to The Stokehouse to celebrate my birthday. All staff were professional and polite and kind given I had no voice.
The food was lovely and the only reason we did not have dessert was because we were all full.
The day was sunny and beautiful, so a walk along the market afterwards to help with digestion was perfect.
Lovely meal and ambience
Service by our waiter was terrible - we waited half an hour for menu's after asking twice. Food was nice but not brilliant. Overrated
Staff attentive and ambiance lovely. Don't mind paying for great food - however, food lacked that wow factor, and thus, over-priced. If this is the 'Stokehouse' experience, been there, done that won't be back!
The food was absolutely amazing! The only downside would be the amount of time it took for the staff to give and collect the check
Fantastic food and amazing service. Would recommend the Stokehouse for a special occasion! We loved all the dishes so much that we joked about licking the plate (we would have if it was socially acceptable). The lamb was melt in your mouth, do yourself a favour! We will be back.
It was previously advised before booking of vegetarian and gluten free requirement, but the offerings were sadly lacking. For a main I had to order several accompaniment dishes, which were not special. And the dessert was inferior to a supermarket gelato.
The gluten free bread offered was clearly bought elsewhere and of supermarket standard, when other fine dining venues bake their own.
The cocktails were hit and miss, with one very good and the other overpriced and uninspiring.
The food is greatly overpriced in general. However the service was polite.
Service and food simply outstanding! Ambience was just lovely and views amazing.
