Stokehouse St Kilda Beach
Beautiful views, excellent food and an elegant environment embody what you'll find at Stokehouse Restaurant. The restaurant's position on the sea makes it a wonderful haven for fresh seafood. Enjoy sand crab, squid, oysters and a variety of fish dishes with flavorful sauces.
The menu at Stokehouse Restaurant includes local fare such as chicken and grilled beef, with sides that place an emphasis on fresh. Indulge in some pickled beetroot, char-grilled kale or Jap pumpkin as a complement to your meal. Desserts at Stokehouse Restaurant are also worth ordering and you can choose among cheese, chocolate custard, summer berries and other sweets. Pair your meal and dessert with one of several tasty cocktails prepared by skilled bartenders.
Last visit was an exception based on all prior visits. Long wait for food - over an hour for mains with an overall sitting of about 2.5 hours. Pleasingly we were not rushed out even though we were into the next sitting time. Found a bone in my seafood main and not game to finish all of it with parts looking slightly under. Great atmosphere as always
Spectacular view across the bay began the evening. After some stop start attention at the beginning the night was smooth sailing. We enjoyed high quality seasonal dishes matched with perfect wines. The sommelier was most knowledgeable and polite. Finishing with cheese and digestive was fitting. Departed feeling impressed with all the stokehouse had to offer. We will be back!
The Noise level was beyond to what we would have ever expected..... this is has become a discotheque bar / restaurant for people out for a good night at expense of other patrons (especially 2) as we experienced. We had relayed our concerns for noise and was explained. Sorry, hard surfaces.... Still staff were happy to ply patrons with extra cocktails and whatever at our expense. However we had to beg for water at our table.
Sadly, we will never recommend this restaurant to any one.
Very impressed with the experience, from the beginning to the end.
The food was delicious but extremely small portions making it poor value for the price.$88 for a main without any extras is ridiculous. The staff were wonderful and so was the view.
Great food and great service, would definitely recommend.
As a group of 6 people, we all had the most special time - Matteo was very great with helping us to choose the food and provided us with outstanding service! We would very much recommend the Stokehous.
Absolutely fantastic! We will be back for sure! Thank you
Very expensive and pretentious. The meals really need to be amazing for that price, and I’m sorry but they miss the mark. The area is lovely, but the menu needs an overhaul.
Food was ok but not as good as I’d expected for an establishment like Stokehouse
Waiters are a little overboard with constant interruptions to our dining, must have came over to us at least 10 times in an 1.1/2 - a bit to much when we were trying to enjoy our meal.
On booking I mentioned we were celebrating a special birthday but no acknowledgement of that
Even though our booking was 7pm and we arrived at 7pm we were chastised for being late. We were seated and it was 20minutes before anyone acknowledged us. The 1st waiter took our meal order and when we requested drinks she said she would send a wine waiter, that never occurred . We finally were able to order beer and water but no wine. The pasta entrees were cold when I think they were suppose to be hot. My main was fish. It was over cooked and burnt. If this was at your local fish and chip shop you would take it on the chin but supposedly "fine dining " it was very disappointing.
Was a beautiful setting. Gorgeous decor. Well done. Food was a bit salty. Otherwise fabulous night. They put us at a window table as it was our wedding anniversary:)
Absolutely fabulous. We Sydneysiders have not been back for years. The Stokehouse delivers 100% for exquisite food, great wine, exceptional friendly helpful service, the décor, the ambience and the views I can not rate this more highly. The best of the best!!!!! Thankyou!
Stokehouse is always sublime.....food, service and ambience!
A magnificent view, excellent food and absolutely flawless service. Stokehouse St Kilda is an exceptional experience. 10/10. Can’t wait to come back!
5 stars for location , no really wow factor to the food severed at fine dining prices . Service was poor. limited options available if you are pregnant.
exceptional food, enjoyed with a wonderful ambiance, we really loved it!
The food is always amazing, I’ve never been disappointed here. Yes, it’s expensive, but worth every cent.
Melbourne cup recovery lunch. Beautiful food and stunning location.
Food was delicious, wait staff were eager to help and the overall ambiance was magnificent!
Fabulous day, the menu and drinks list was fantastic as was the food and service.
The atmosphere was wonderful.
A lovely lunch, beautifully prepared and presented by friendly professional staff
Booked dinner for a romantic catch up. A bit too noisy for an old man! Food and service faultless, wine list very expensive!
We went for a dinner for our wedding anniversary. The meal very small and overpriced.
The food and ambience were great! The only thing that we felt was not up to standard was the service. We had different wait staff constantly ask us if we wanted to order and there appeared to be a strong emphasis on up-selling which was a bit much for us. What did really annoy us was that my 10 year old son was asked if he wanted more soft drinks- I suggest to ask the parent not the child.
Awesome wine list
The food was good (not amazing just good) and our waitress was was fabulous but the atmosphere is not great. The noise and acoustics are just terrible and they create a level of stress that no one needs when going out to dinner. To add to this feeling of stress, the maitre d was not calm and was impacted by the busyness of the place. It is very expensive for what you get - ie good food but bad atmosphere and I was overall disappointed.
Despite it being a splendid sunny day, our lunchtime table was in front of windows so dirty we could barely see out. Disgusting.
The service staff women were very nice though it was hard to hear some of them over the girly warbly music playing. Bizarre audio tape, varying from nice cool jazz to insistent shouty vocals and some doof doof.
The service staff males were oddly “forthright”, bordering on officious. Not nasty, just completely cold. Definitely could use a bit of true hospitality training.
The food was fair; the battered whiting rather oily and the lamb rather tough (and served without a meat knife) though its accompanying sauce quite delicious. Sides were fine though $12 for a small dish of three lettuce leaves, however artfully arranged, is a bit much. Food delivery was quite slow despite it not being that busy upstairs.
Wine by the glass was ok. The Riesling was good though the red nothing to write home about, especially at $16 a glass.
Glad to have been to the rebuilt Stokehouse, but it’ll be quite some time before we venture back, if at all.
The seafood mains were not value for money. The oysters were great though..something in there have us the gift of not so gentle stomaches the next day..
Awesome time with my daughter who they made feel very special
love visiting Stokehouse in St kilda.. the oysters were a standout dish.. as well as the risotto!! yum yum and yum! Service was great as well.. pity there was no room at the bar for a drink after our meal..however our waitress did try and accomodate us.
Great food, attentive service, fabulous view - all the right ingredients for a birthday celebration. Well worth the visit.
Good food and view but noise bounces around, no character / ambience and over priced relative to the great options in the area.
Didn’t know what ro expect but the food was really good.
Can't go past the view, lovely atmosphere but food not worth the $$$
Our waitress Julia (21st of October) was extremely knowledgeable, canny, kind and attentive. The food was great and the view magnificent.
We will definitely be back for more and share with friends.
Went there 8 years ago (before it burnt down) and found it positively charming. Unfortunately it is not just another expensive restaurant.
The service and food was first rate. Went for a special occasion and felt like the occasion was respected by what we had.
One of the worse "fine dining" experience I have ever had. I've made a booking online for 4. A stuff calls me the day before and asks me to confirm a booking for 2. I said it's for 4 and ask for the time to change to 7 pm. She went away and came back to me and said that it's all fine. So I turn up 6.55 and they said we only have your booking at 6 and want the table back at 8. By the time we're sited we had 45 mins to eat. They rush us through our meals and as soon as we finished our main we were told to leave. The food was ok nothing great. I will not recommend to anyone and won't be coming back. Very bad experience for my sister's birthday.
