1st visit and will definitely be back. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent.
Great food & cool surrounds. Some combinations on the plate miss the mark but mostly very appealing. This time even though notification of a Birthday celebration they ignored the reference. Not a major issue but disappointing
The setting at the Stokehouse is always outstanding always better during the day to watch the storm role in or the sun shine. Service attentive but not annoying food delicious atmosphere relaxed but in a special kind fo way
Perfect place to dine with great food and wine. Fantastic professional staff who consistently deliver.
Although the service is still excellent, the food, wine view and atmosphere aren’t what the stokehouse used to be
We all enjoyed our dinner at The Stokehouse, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was relaxed, we arrived early but the bar upstairs near the restaurant is small, but quiet and relaxing with a lovely view of the bay and city lights. Plenty of parking nearby.
We had a lovely time at Stokehouse as always - the male Sommelier (apologies I didn't get his name) was awesome, however our second Sommelier was not as helpful or at least it was noticed in comparison with our first.
We later discovered that one yuzu cocktail was missed from our bill, and two rieslings we did not have charged to our bill.
The food was beautiful, the tuna special was a highlight as well as the barramundi and the bombe.
No external signage made it a little difficult to locate the restaurant. The booking form should warn potential guests that car parking may represent a problem. All up a pleasant enough experience, but not outstanding.
A perfect evening, great cocktails to start and the fabulous food just kept on coming. It was a special occasion and the perfect place to go and splash out. Staff were very friendly and attentive
The food was moderate and the service was good.Though I felt it was too attentive. As it was a bussiness meal the constant attention from the staff was a little off putting as it interupted the meeting.
Exceptional location, best lamb dish I've ever had, service outstanding. An open fire would have been nice but only a small thing. We will thoroughly recommend this venue.
We chose the Stokehouse for a special Birthday lunch and was not let down. The service was friendly, and the meals we chose were all delicious (even the Fish & Chips!). When accompannied with a warm, sunny afternoon by the Bay, the day out was perfect!
Food was ok, nothing incredibly creative or mind blowing. I had fish which was nice but flavours didn’t really work for me. Everything was just ok when we were expecting amazing.
Tastefully decorated and quiet for most of the evening, I would recommend this restaurant for private as well as for business dinning. It is easy to converse as wood panels, timber floor and soft courtins absorb the noice. The service was outstanding: kind, knowledgeable and professional waiters were a pleasure to have around. Food was delicious and creative. We really enjoyed it and will be back for sure.
As visitors to Melbourne, this was our first visit to the ‘new’ Stokehouse and it did not disappoint. The service was understated and friendly, the staff knowledgeable about food and wine, the food was delicious and the location stunning. Can highly recommend the Stokehouse!
Service was a bit ad-hoc. Waitress couldn't answer questions about a dish. Had to ask for bread. One of us had the $40 lunch which is quite good value, but wines by the glass are a bit over the top. The other had a la carte. Altogether a bit of a robotic experience, whereas the site has the potential for it to be an amazing experience. It was OK, but not special enough that I'd go back.
Fabulous service, gorgeous location, devine food, great for all occasions - I enjoyed it ...
The food was lovely although overall almost everything was over seasoned which meant the main items the dish was outdone.
The service was lovely until is came time at the end of the dinner to serve the expresso martinis and affogato's. the young waitress split 3 out of 6 as she almost threw the dishes in front of us. She had a long dark ponytail and for whatever reason seemed in a very bad mood at that point. Unfortunately that left us leaving with not quite the experience we had hoped for.
Great service and venue however I was slightly disappointed with the menu and portion size was nearly degustation.
My husband and I were down from Sydney and I hadn't been to the Stokehouse for years. We'd only ever been to the original one.
We were greeted upon our arrival and had a couple of pre-dinner drinks in the bar. Then when our table was ready we were asked if we wanted to take our drinks to the table or stay in the bar. No pressure so we stayed at the bar to finish them.
We had a fabulous table at the window and a really lovely and attentive waitress. The sommelier was also really helpful in helping us find a lovely wine.
The food was fantastic and the staff were really great, we will definitely be back - can't wait! Thanks Stokehouse.
Great tasty food with exceptional views!
The service was not intrusive but friendly and accommodating.
Stokehouse never disappoints!
Thanks for another fabulous experience!
Always great at the Stokehouse! Great food, great service and great ambience.
Beautiful restaurant, the room has a lovely ambience, and the food and service was faultless. We will return. After dining at many 5 star restaurants around Melbourne, we though the entire experience was great value for money with pre dinner cocktails , 2 course dinner and wine for 6 coming in at around $800.
Our visit to Stokehouse was lovely. We loved the atmosphere and the ambience about it. Service was fantastic! Drinks, Food and Wine were all beautiful.
Food was a little slow to come out however it gave us a little more time to digest.
Next time we visit Melbourne we will be definitely dining there again, a lunch time for our next visit to enjoy the view.
Starters and entrees great but steak of one guest was sent back and I regretted not doing the same with the pigeon. Great spot but noisy with a wonky table. Shame as prior visit was good.
A special dining experience. All elements were luxurious and faultless. Extremely fab service too
It was a special occasion dinner out and the staff made great efforts to ensure it was.
We ordered Mushroom risotto and found a hair inside the food.
That tells a lot about their hygienic standard in the kitchen.
The staff got it do right, just a lovely experience all round
It took awhile to find as there are no signs, but once we got in there we were pleasantly surprised. Lovely attentive staff and above all a truly beautiful meal. Well worth paying the money for. Thank you
A great night, service outstanding, food Devine! It has evolved since it first reopened (the last time I went), and I was pleasantly surprised.
The staff were very attentive, and I loved the seasonality of the food.
I look forward to my return!
Fabulous evening celebrating a family birthday. Starting with super cocktails with a very personable drink waiter. The food was gasp gorgeous and all the staff seemed kind tital professionals. Absolutely loved every minute. Hadn’t been there since the renovation. A total step up on every level. Will look forward to returning. Thanks also for the birthday cake which was unexpected but very much appreciated.
We enjoyed a romantic dinner on a Saturday night. Staff are lovely, not obtrusive but warm friendly and helpful. Let's start with the whipped goats curd for the bread offered......we fought over every morsel. The bug entree wasn't so great, didn't wow either of us and was too salty.....and i usually love a lot of salt. The flavours didn't compliment each other. However, the Red emperor fish (for 2) with truffle etc was outstanding. We enjoyed a side of pumpkin, we ordered chips but didn't need them. We shared the cheese for dessert, it was delicious. We haven't dined here since it was in the temporary tent after the fire, i feel it has lost that cute mood lighting a pockets of privacy the old place offered. In it's place is a modern take, tables all in a row looking out over a big glass window....and i'm not sure about the interior designer who chose the mirrors for decoration...I am confused with the theme....considering the pine looking wood panelling. However, the food except the let-down entree (which was $32 per plate) was really well done. I would return on a special occasion.
Hits the 3 boxes with so much class. Food - incredible, Service - with class, Ambience - amazing. I had an international guest here and chose The Stokehouse with confidence. They loved it and made a point to mention how nice it was. "Eating at your restaurant is like wearing a Hugo Boss suit." You feel great doing both.
One of us ordered steak at $140 it was sinewy, the fish was delightful, the ambiance and views outstanding.
The best of all really was the staff who were as good as any I have encountered anywhere in the world. The Sommelier was First class and the waitress we had (Rose, I think) was worth asking for especially. They were knowledgeable, pleasant and very efficient whilst all the time upselling the offerings in a tactfully consistent way.
I wish they worked for me.
From Brisbane & enjoy dining at Brisbane Stokehouse on the river so this was such a treat to dine at Melbourne Stokehouse on the beach!
Superb food, stunning location and with staff who were exceptional; no better way to indulge in a leisurely Sunday Lunch!
Service staff were excellent. We had a main waitress and also 3 others checking in on us to see if we were OK. Recommendations for food from the waitress was great and she even took a photo for us to remind us of this occasion.
Visiting Melbourne, great venue for special birthday dinner. Fab food and lovely service, certainly didn't disappoint. Thank you!
Having eaten at Stokehouse on many occasions, I find this restaurant my place of choice for seafood.
The way the chef changes the variety of seafood on offer, the presentation, flavours etc can only make this place Melbournes go to place for seafood.
This was our first dining experience at the Stokehouse and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. We cannot recommend the Stokehouse highly enough. We walked from the Restaurant planning our next visit.
The service, the food, the atmosphere, decor everything was perfect.
