WE love the Stokehouse. The food was delicious and the service was brilliant!!! We will definitely. Be going there again and again.
Sorry but it was to pretentious
The wait staff had A D D did not listen, the food was good , but rediculously expensive
I’ve had superlative cape grim stakes elsewhere for $40.. with sides
Couldn’t go again , there are much better restaurants in Melbourne with better service, not as snooty , oh and yeah my wife is NOT A madam
We booked Stokehouse on line for 12.00pm Sunday. We were advised on entry that our table was booked from 2.00pm so it created a little pressure to get the meal underway. The menu offers a pretty good range of food and food types. The Wine List is extensive. Service was excellent we were never left waiting for it. The location is great and regardless of the weather the views are great over Port Phillip Bay. This was a family occasion and the venue worked well as if there was any music it was only in the background so we could talk easily. Noise in the restaurant is also minimal so it must be designed well.
Beautiful location, good view and great food. Service is excellent and that makes all the difference when there are so many restaurants to choose from. This is the second times I visited this restaurant and will definitely go back again!
Overpriced boring food selection. Little variety and not flexible with a salad dressing!!! Who doesn’t have a balsamic vinegar in the kitchen. My salad came without the condiment so I could add the condiment to taste, so if it’s not already dressed then give me some balsamic rather than the chefs’s creative combinations of flavours!!!
Who is eating it after all?? Never enjoyed the food before it burnt down and enjoyed it even less this time.
It was my first time since the rebuilding and I was pleasantly surprised how well it came up. Good service, food and wine.
Expensive but great food and wine and great service. I’d go again. The waiters and bar staff were fun and responsive
Service truely woeful, was adhoc and chaotic. Our waitress was rude, disinterested and unaware of the menu offerings.
Food, was severly substandard of a 1 chefs hat restaurant. I have eaten better food at bistros and paid substantially less. We both left half our meals uneaten.
Such a shame such a Melbourne eating institution is no longer worth considering
I have never been so disappointed in a meal, we have eaten here before, albeit not for a long time, my pork chop was a small finger of pork, about the same size as my middle finger( total size), charged $44, should have been $3, my husbands' fish & chips was 4 sticks of oily fried mashed potato ( supposed to be chips) and 2 pieces of battered fish, which was then put under the grilled and burnt- black, so it was actually charcoal battered fish, this was the worst $177 we have ever spent.
Terrific venue, friendly and knowledgable staff, broad wine list and delicious food.
The ambiance and service was very good.
The size of the meals was VERY disappointing and value for money was poor.
i would NOT recommend the restaurant for the above reasons.
Service was exceptional, setting was stunning and food delicious, we all had a great time.
Finally we found a restaurant in Melbourne that we are impressed with! Melbourne has a lot of really good restaurants which we have been enjoying since we moved back from Europe 4 month ago. Most of them were very good, but so far they all failed to really impress us. This is particularly true as far as fine dying is concerned. Now we have been impressed!!!!
Amazing as usual! Had the new $4o Lunch Menu - incredible value given the setting and calbre of restaurant!
Wonderful setting, great service, delicious food and a memorable day all round. Thank you Stoke House
It was the first time at this restaurant for over 10 years. The food was outstanding. We had raw fish then lamb and scotch fillet. Each course was fantastic. I would definitely come here again.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and ambience.
Will come again.
Just one word ‘wow’!
The food was exceptional, the service impeccable and the restaurant/location is stunning. Special mention for Will (sommelier) and Andy (waiter) who looked after us.
We will be back again when in Melbourne. A must to go too.
Pretty disappointed with the restaurant as they didnt make any effort to make the night special eg. Have a rose on the table, a candle or even to write happy anniversary on the dessert plate or even wish us a happy anniversary (they knew it was when I made the booking).
Food was over priced.
It's pretty casual, quite loud and busy.
Just doesn’t have that wow factor. Food wasn’t particularly creative. The menu was ok but not amazing. The food was tasty and lovely view.
The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The restaurant is lovely despite our view marred by the outside facade( wooden beams) and huge palm tree. I would return for the desserts and then drinks on the terrace only
This is a truly great venue. Been here many, many times over the years. One of only a handful of seafront venues in Melbourne.
Although this is only the second since the renovation. First time was a disaster (they opened too soon - still a building site). This was a second chance. I’m loving it again. Great ambience. Truly amazing service and food. Not the largest menu. Good mix of seafood and meats. Desserts probably the only let down - very pedestrian and a little dull.
Not sure what all the hype was about.
Limited menu and small portions
Staff rushed us through our dinner
Cocktails were lovely though - go for a drink in the day to enjoy the view .
What a view! Gorgeous venue, perfect end to a special trip.
Amazing! Such great food served with expert waiters
Great semillion and would take his advise, a bit pricy on the wine but ok every now and then to slash out.
Great food, sensational location and wonderful wine list.
Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to catch up with friends, family and special occasions
Great food and service, however found very noisy, quite a few groups creating lots of noise, wouldn't recommend for a quiet romantic dinner! Car parking a nightmare, ok if no event across road at Palaise Theatre, however night we dined at Stokehouse event on at Theatre, full car park, driving around to find one, we were 45 mins late for our booking after having to park further down the road at the Baths. Only a few spots at the restaurant which seemed to be reserved for very expensive cars.
Great vibe. Stunning view. Great service. Very attentive. Food lovely. Will be back many times.
Excellent food and service. Most delicious meal I have had in a while.
Everything about this meal was amazing, we chose some beautiful light fresh options for a healthy lunch which didn’t leave us feeling too full or overindulgent. The wait staff were so friendly and casual and made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. This is Melbourne dining at its absolute best!
To be honest I had not heard good things about "The New Stokehouse" and as a consequence of this I was not looking forward to this lunch. However I was blown away at how it exceeded all my expectations. Service was perfect. timing was terrific food was incredible and I have no complaints and would highly recommend it. Obviously all the teething problems have been solved and now it is back to its former glory with new decor and atmosphere.
Overall ok, but expensive. Main courses small and required extra sides to complement. In particular “fish and chips” was underwhelming. Excessive batter which was over cooked and dominated the fish. White sesame ice cream was a disappointment.
Relaxing great atmosphere and great view we all had an enjoyable Sunday lunch
The food was delicious, but it was very difficult t9 talk as the ambient noise level was very hpleasant gh. Our waiter was nice, but not attentive. The wine waiter spilled wine on the table, and did not notice. We asked for the bill when we finally got the attention of a staff member. We waited for another 10 m8nutes or more before we could get the attention of someone to pay. Then there was a surcharge on the use of any card to pay, not mentioned by the staff member taking our payment.
Took my wife to StokeHouse for her birthday (first time we had been since the previous building was destroyed by fire). Great food, efficient and engaging service, super wine list and, from my perspective, good value. Very impressed. Would definitely recommend & go back again.
With the noise downstairs because of a function we couldn’t even hear ourselves speak. Very disappointing and won’t be coming back
The new Stokehouse (March 2018 variety) was absolutely fantastic. Long weekend traffic made getting there an issue, but the informed staff were fabulous making sure we were fed and out in our seating time with as much enjoyment as possible. The views over the bay at sunset were really special. A special place for a special event with a special person.
One of the best in a melbourne! Will be back! Great food with amazing views
