The new Stokehouse building, located on St Kilda Beach, is on a World scale, unprecedented as the first as designed and as built 5 star green star restaurant. The first floor is home to Stokehouse – we think it’s one of the most stunning dining rooms, with unparalleled views.
The menu created by Executive Chef Richard Ousby and Head Chef Ollie Hansford remains very much Stokehouse on the beach, with a focus on seafood, and an overarching philosophy of fresh, clean, zesty and light.

Overpriced for what you get.
Desserts were ok.
Mains not great.
Very desapointing starters.
Donovan's is much worth.

Our second time at Stokehouse and although the food was amazing the service was very slow and we had to sing out almost every time we needed our waiter. They were clearly busy, but a restaurant of that calibre just needs to be staff correctly. We even got sick of waiting for our bill and just walked up to pay, that then causing even longer delays. Love the location, love the view, love the food, but yer it was all a bit slow and being an 8pm booking we were hungry. We will be back, please just work on your service.

Way too many people crammed in on Saturday and a desperate attempt to squeeze a lunch service when the venue was booked for an evening wedding.

Oh what a wine list, not confined to, but especially if you wish to splash the cash. The food is lovely too. This place is all sensual pleasure. Where it goes into overload though are the noise levels. Some might not hear much being said across the table with the hubbub, when filled to capacity. The service is neat and knowledgeable. Views are superb. Great dining venue. Oh, and yes, wining venue.

Service was great: an Irish waiter who was very friendly, proficient, and profesional. View is great: facing the St.Kilda beach. The actual food was average. pork was very tough. Price was exorbitant! They even charged $22 for 2 bottles of water.

The food was lovely and overall very good, very friendly and helpful staff. Menu a little pricey. The restaurant as a whole extremely noisy, too many hard services and perhaps something can be done to lessen the the fact you have to talk very loudly to your dinner guests to make yourself heard.

So you know it ain’t gonna be cheap but you’re worth it and you will come away feeling a million bucks. Fine dining at its best and even Sydney can’t beat the view. Enjoy.

Service was just weird. Food on the whole looked truly amazing but was bland and in most cases the flavours just didn’t work.
The exception being a main of fried flathead and chips which was sensational and dessert, which was great. Overall very disappointing. For close to $300 for two of us with minimal drinks, it was a very expensive way to eat average food.

The scallops were sensational. The best I’ve ever tasted. The fish and chips was about four times too large leaving us no room for anything else. A pity. Small is better.

when you go to a restaurant like "Stokehouse" you have high expectations - sadly i was thoroughly disappointed. Firstly my water glass had lipstick stains - maybe i expect to much to receive a clean glass? when i got the waitress attention to get a clean glass i was offered no apology for the dirty glass that had been placed at our table.
the food was good, dont get me wrong. i have had better though.
the butter was hard as a rock and i struggled to spread it on my bread,
the service was appalling, no apology for teh dirty glass, no attention at all or customer service. once our meal was finished dessert menus were left at our table for 15 minutes, the waitress did not even come back to take our dessert order so we decided just to get up and leave. When we got to the counter she had a surprised look on her face and when she issued us the bill, sure it wasnt cheap but we were quite surprised to see they had charged us $180 for a bottle of champagne WE DID NOT ORDER OR DRINK!! she corrected this after we complained but once again offered no form of apology.
when you go to a restaurant and are paying min. $100 per head you expect that not only the food be great but also the service and i think i've had better service at nando's.
wont be returning...

Our first visit to the 'new' Stokehouse had high expectations from our previous experiences - great ambience, food, service. The new SH was impressive - great views as always, the service was of a high standard - attentive without being overbearing. The food was disappointing. Starting with Saltwater ceviche - the highlight of the evening followed by Grilled squid - overbearing romesco flavour. Main was Scotch fillet - for some reason covered in a glaze which detracted from the flavour. The steak was average - not worth the $60 price. The other main whiting covered in cabbage leaf & smoked was bland & tasteless. We were told this was the highlight of the menu - hmmm. Desert was shared - Rose & pistachio praline frozen nougat, orange, raspberry. The presentation was 3rd rate, straight from the freezer - no base or garnish - could have been so much better with a little effort. Maybe an off night - I hope so as this Melbourne institution can not trade on location & past reputation alone.

We celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary with you, having had our wedding reception there 11 years ago. We had the best table in the Restaurant and were really taken care of. Thanks to Peter and his staff for going above and beyond. It was a very memorable evening.
