I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Stoke house a number of times now. The last time was approx 12 months ago and I thought the standard of food had dropped.
After visiting again on Wednesday for a business diner I was pleasantly surprised that my expectations were well exceeded! The Lamb was delicious and my guests complimented the duck and fish.
I made a reservation at Stokehouse Q for a Monday evening several weeks ago. I had heard good reports about the food and the views across to the city from the restaurant's dining room). Having booked early (I would be certain that I would have been one of the first to make a reservation for that evening) I was disappointed to be seated near the bar area and away from the main restaurant. All the tables in the "front row" in the main restaurant had been taken. The ambience in the area near the bar (no one else was seated in this area) was virtually non existent. whilst the food was good, the evening was a disappointment and for that reason, I would not be able to recommend the Stokehouse Q.
We were very disappointed in the menu and the wine list. Having dined at Stokehouse Q on 4 previous occasions, the menu is much less broad than previously.
The food waiter was very helpful, the wine waiter was rather abrupt.
I struggled to find a meal that I was happy to eat and went for the fish and chips, in batter, which was a poor choice to have at an expensive restaurant.
I would not return based on this experience
Always love stokehouse Q but 1st Time having lunch and to honest tommy $48 steak was a touch cold and average ..
I think the dinner meals are a way better option ..
Staff and service always top notch.
Will be back
We had duck and gold ban snapper. Duck was raw in the center and the fish which was sat in a cold white sauce was over cooked and quiet tasteless. Being a professional fisherman for 20 years I felt the chef fell well short in presenting the fish meal. Table next door steaks looked great so I think the meals we had chosen were out side their scope.
Love this place. Amazing food and ambience and location. Only thing is they still charge a credit card fee when you go to pay the bill. Couldn't theyput the charge into the prices. It makes them look cheap as if they are money grabbing or penny pinching or on a very tight budget.
Food was amazing; our table was not in a great position as it was right near to the service area which was distracting. Our waiter was not very engaging with us as customers he didn't seem to interested in us or his job. The lady that greeted and sat us down was fantastic we wished she looked after us! But overall beautiful venue, food was FANTASTIC and will be sure to go again.
Amazing experience! Amazing wine. The best dessert ever - The Bombe!
The atmosphere was amazing as soon as I entered! Would highly recommend taking your date here to celebrate an anniversary! The '‘Fish & Chips’ soda batter, triple cooked chips, seaweed salt, tartare sauce' was an amazing meal, the fish (Emperor) was amazing! Was cooked amazing, full of flavor and really kept my tastebuds entertained! The service was very professional and super friendly! Would most likely come back in the future!
I booked lunch for fathers day. We were greeted by a delightful girl who showed us to our table. My husband was thrilled to be seated by the window looking on to the river. Our entree of zucchini flowers and the gnocchi were delicious and our main were to die for. The service was faultless and we will certainly be back. Loved it
Staff was very friendly however wasn’t impressed with the meals at all - ordered the lamb and it wasn’t cooked at all, in fact primarily was the fat and tasted like guts. Unfortunately it was a big turn off for me for the restaraunt overall. Also waited over an hour for meals to come out and we only had a table of 4. Also specified on my booking online it was my mum’s birthday and overall just didn’t feel like we received genuine service from our specific waiter.
Always outstanding - food, service and ambience. You won’t find much better in Brisbane.
Stokehouse Q never fails to impress. Attentive waitstaff, impeccable food, a delightful ambience in a prime location. We will always return to Stokehouse Q.
The waiter was tentative with out being overbearing.
Food was on point, delicious and service was delivered at perfect intervals
Choice of drinks were great- maybe some WA wines would have been great to add a mix.
The Restaruant on a whole was a great experience.
Dinner with my wife. Menu interesting and varied, not unreasonably priced. Food beautifully presented, excellent produce and flavours. Wine list extensive across all types, regions and budgets. Service very good, informative, attentive but not intrusive.
Fantastic location, wonderful food - service was a smidge slow but the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Our booking was made one month ahead of time and I could only make a reservation for an 8.15pm sitting. We were ok with this but having arrived at 8.05 we were not seated until 8.40. We reminded the staff that we were waiting at 8.20pm and were told that they had to move the previous diners on and prepare our table. Our entrée arrived at 9.30. Staff were not at all apologetic and we had all lost our appetite by this stage. The food was very nice however.
The location and the building is very nice. We arrived about 5 minutes before our booking and entered through the bar area rather than the restaurant. The barman told us to wait in the bar to be seated as per our booking because staff were having a briefing meeting. We waited for about 10 minutes without any offer of anything (it is bar). When I inquired again how things were going with the barman, he was very short with me and indicated the wait staff were busy and would come when they were finished seating other tables. Our host once we were seated gave us the set champagne lunch menu and drinks menu. After some deliberation, three of us settled on that and then we asked a passing waiter for the full menu so the rest of the table could choose there order. We could not understand this main menu and hailed passing wait staff who indicated we should have been given the produce daily menu as well which explains daily offerings. We then went to order and were told that we could not have only half the table having the champagne set lunch - new information. So we started again on the order. We maintained our good humour, but it was disappointing.
Sensational food. Best I have eaten in fact all year I would say. An amazing fresh and delicius ceviche.
Excellent service and atmosphere. Even better than my experience dining at Stokehouse in Melbourne. Loved it.
A terrific improvement from our last visit where the DJ music was in my opinion loud doof rubbish to this visits chilled tunes. Bar service was also much more timely with moderate table service. Our waiter John was excellent and the food first class.
Thoroughly enjoyed the newer menu as we hadn't been for a few months. Everything was excellent with several highlights. There are a few things we couldn't fit in which will be worth a try next time. Obviously a talented group of chefs.
The waitstaff and wine staff were helpful and attentive without being overly so. The young woman who looked after our table was bright and knowledgeable.
Beautiful food, loved the menu, drinks and even the coffee.
We were pretty close to the kitchen, which I enjoy watching, we could see the staff working away, haste without stress and noise. Lovely experience.
A little expensive, but food was so very good. We had a lovely afternoon, thank you.
Hayley was amazing as always!
Loved the market fish dish!
Amazing food and friendly staff. Absolutely worth every dollar
Excellent service, great location and food. Good value for money.
Amazing food. We did miss the chicken on the menu. The staff were lovely to our girls (4 and 6)--really appreciate that!
Food was sensational from start to finish, not one item was not to like. Particular mention, the Moreton Bay bugs and last but not least "the bombe" dessert....absolutely amazing and a must try!
Second time dining here and was not as good as the first. Food is excellent, however service could be Improved, our waiter could have done with a bit more finesse when asking why we didn't finish one of our dishes, left my partner feeling quite embarrassed. We finish our meal at 8pm and eventually had to ask for the bill at 9pm as we were left sitting at our table waiting. Quote noisy, especially with a table of 6 drunk people right behind us. Probably won't be back.
Great views. Gave us a great table as requested and made our anniversary special
Outstanding food and service.. the main course was a little slow coming out but we had a fabulous evening
Amazing experience. We went for my partner's B'day and were sat right on the river with a brilliant vantage of the city and bridges. The duck was fantastic. It's expensive, but the value is there when you look at the entire experience.
Always good service and food at Stokehouse Q however there was an event on this evening that impacted on the usual prompt service and food / drink deliveries.
Outstanding service amazing food and some superb location
Fabulous dinner for our group of ten.
Everyone had a lovely time and the bill was reasonable given the quality of the food. Location and service.
Service was fairly ordinary. Had to ask for sparkling water to be topped up as well as wine.
Food was good but not amazing so overall value wasn’t great for a restaurant of this caliber.
Delicious food, consistently good produce, and a highly satisfying wine list- Stokehouse Q always a great option. Highly recommended!
I’ve entertained for business and dined with family. The service and food quality outstanding have always remained outstanding
Food and location was excellent as usual. This is a favourite 'special event' restaurant for us an have been several times with family and for business events. View over the Brisbane river and city backdrop is great. Restaurant had a service staff member call in sick on the night and were a little short staffed but I found the sommelier made an excellent backup waiter. Thanks for a great night.
Our main meals had too much salt which spoilt the whole meal. Wayne's steak was salt crusted which was not in the description and my duck was salty. Neither of us added any salt to our meals as we always taste first before adding salt. We both normally use salt but the meat was extremely salty. We had just come of a cruise and found the meal we had paid for at their top restaurants on board was a lot better. My husband and I have eaten at top restaurants around Australia and aboard and found the Stokehouse lacking and I would not recommend it.
