Lovely fit out, although space doesn’t seem to have been used that well - lots of empty space and not so many inside tables.
We arrived on time for our 8pm booking, table wasn’t ready. We were invited for drinks at the bar table, were told it would only be a 10 minute wait for our table, but in reality it was 30 minutes. I understand things don’t always run on time and that’s fine, but I would prefer to he told honestly than 10 minutes for a 30 minute wait.
The service was perfectly friendly, but nobody seemed particularly confident with what they were doing and it was all a bit chaotic. I’ll chalk that up to new restaurant growing pains and new/young staff.
The food, overall, was VERY, VERY average for the price. They were out of one of the few starters, and the alternate we were suggested was just slices of cured meat with a few drops of oil on a plate. No bread, pickles, accompaniments what so ever (nor was this suggested to us during ordering, which we would’ve been happy to pay for). Once we received the dish we asked for bread, which was delivered 5 or so minutes later and was so hard it was near inedible. The Broccoli dish was very tasty.
The mains then proceeded to take an unreasonable amount of time, and when they arrived were underwhelming. The chicken was on the cold side and really quite bland. The duck ragu was quite tasty, albeit nothing special.
The cellar wine list is laid out a little strange, but there were some decent choices there. The wine prices, though, borderline on ridiculous.
Overall - friendly staff who were apologetic for our average experience along the way, but the food just doesn’t cut it, and there was no feeling of generosity at any time - something expected in Adelaide for the price they’re charging.
Our overall experience was very good, food enjoyable and venue was lovely; however, not overly enthusiastic with setting times if one wants to enjoy a leisurely dining experience. We were a little late to our 6:30pm dinner reservation and therefore had no time for dessert as there was a second sitting at 8:30pm.
Second time at a Stem. Great food and environment. Staff very accommodating and friendly.
Booked table for four to catch up with friends. The noise level was great for conversation across table and the wait staff service was timely and discreet.
The menu was interesting without being overly complex. The food flavors relied on good quality produce and skilled preparation.
Staff organised food delivery to support our desire to share plates. Wine list was varied, with good by the glass options.
Dessert did not disappoint.
I have dined at STEM twice and I think its an excellent venue. I really like the fit out, atmosphere, the staff and the food. I will be back!
Couldn’t fault it. Had a brilliant night celebrating 2 dear friends’ 50th birthdays. We’d booked for outside but they were able to move us indoors. The music, staff, food, fit out was all excellent

Great service with really good flavors. The pork and pasta had really great flavors and the potatoes on the side had really good texture.

This was my second visit to Stem and the food improvement from my first visit was outstanding. The Pork Fillet was possibly the best tasting, tender pork I have ever eaten.
We were really looking forward to our booking at Stem on Saturday night and it fulfilled all expectations except for the fact that we had a reservation for 8:30pm however we weren't seated till close to 9pm. We arrived at our booking just before 8:30pm so we were seated at a bar whilst we waited for our table to be ready however, after waiting close to 30mins for our table and noticing several free tables set around the restaurant, we asked the waiter to check on our table. It was only after that that we were seated at one of the free tables. Besides this, the aesthetic, ambience, service and food was great and I would recommend.
Fantastic family meal at Stem. Relaxed atmosphere and delicious food, especially the mushroom agnolotti (I’m having that again and again). Great wine list and an excellent array of gins.
A wonderful new venue, with excellent service - comfortable and modern setting. Subtle and innovative menu - a very good selection of wines. I’ll certainly be returning - soon!
Finally tried the pizzas and they didn’t disappoint. Loved the eggplant one especially. Highly recommend
Five star service from some lovely people who clearly love their jobs. I hope management realise that the atmosphere in this place is being set by some wonderful staff. The food was pleasant but not spectacular, I was expecting more - more flavour - more punch. Restaurant ambience is lovely however wine had limited choices and was pricey. Overall an ok evening.

Loved it! The food was top notch as was the service. Great wine list to complement. Really hard to fault all round... plenty of options on the menu we didn't get to try so we're already looking forward to our next dinner there.

A bit hit and miss ..... had at least 4 different waiters, didn't get half of what we first ordered food was ok if not a bit clunky ..

This is in the old cafe chaos site in Hindley St, which is the only reason I can see this place not succeeding. The venue has been completely renovated and has lots of exposed wood and cool concrete. The food was excellent and there are a good range of menu options. It is not a vegan restaurant but it does have some interesting and tasty selections for those looking for vegetarian and vegan options. The service was friendly and professional. There is a cool bar if you just want a drink and a walk in cellar for picking your own wine. It is slightly pricey but with the quality of the food I don't think many will be disappointed. This is a classy place and I hope it does well. I will definitely be returning.
STEM is a fabulous Restaurant. It's great to see a café of this standard open in Adelaide. We loved the service, the food and the entire experience. We will be back.
It was our first visit to Stem last night since it’s opening and I couldn’t fault a single thing.
I’m visiting from Melbourne and Stem is totally my kind of restaurant/wine bar and is completely on-point!
I absolutely love the industrial chic fit-out, softened with the use of natural materials, lush plants, American Oak and possibly my favorite, the wine cellar!
The ambiance is warm and inviting, not stuffy or pretentious and is complimented with a tantalizing menu, full of so many delicious seasonal choices perfect for sharing (or not).
The staff are all absolutely fabulous! We received a warm, friendly welcome and excellent service throughout the evening. I found the service to be attentive but not intrusive. Our fabulous host offered us some great recommendations from the menu and the sommelier Lachlan’s wine knowledge is brilliant.
I didn’t expect to find a hidden gem like this in Adelaide and certainly not on Hindley Street, yet the venue and its location is perfect.
I’m not easily impressed, however I was very impressed with Stem. 10/10

Great Service. Food was yummy and the pizza was perfect and fluffy. The only negative feed back was when I ordered the prosciutto duck entree instead of whole slices of prosciutto, it was more like one slice of prosciutto cut into tiny pieces. Still taste great but a bit over priced for what it was. Overall highly recommend Stem.

Can’t recommend this new Restaurant more. Such a cool place with friendly attentive staff. We had such a great night - you can’t miss the Broccoli hummus, Lamb with polenta and gnocchi to die for (we had to order another serve)!

Such a great surprise as one never knows what to expect when trying a new restaurant. From when we walked through the door the staff were courteous and attentive and the menu had a lot to choose from. The food we ordered was delicious, the buzz around the restaurant was great and the fit out looked amazing. Would definitely go back!
