Obviously this is a "bit" different than dining indoors during normal time, but given the current circumstances we very much enjoyed our dinner.
Once again, delicious as usual. It was a joy to sit outside on the patio. Service is always gracious too. We had the gazpacho appetizer and duck spring roll. For our entrees, we had the pork chop and fish entree. And to finish off, we had the light refreshing pavlova and some mint ice cream. Always a pleasure to visit St. Eve’s during this hard times. Go and support local restaurants and defiantly put this gem in your list.
A very nice setup for outside dining - only a couple of tables but service was great and food even better.
A last hurrah of sorts before restaurants in New Jersey close due to the Covid-19 virus. Some friends suggested that I take my wife to St. Eves for a birthday dinner. Our meal exceeded my expectations. For a starter, we both enjoyed the Endive Salad. The Mahi-Mahi Special and Short Ribs Special were outstanding. The short ribs were tender and moist while the fish was perfectly cooked. I recommend the Pavlova for dessert. Lorenzo provided attentive service and patiently answered our questions about the menu. The menu may not be extensive, but the entrees are creative, attractively presented, and flavorful. We will be back!
We could not have asked for more except maybe a table in a corner. The food was fabulous and plenty of choices so that each of the six of us felt like we had to choose among many choices. The service was personal and spectacular. Our every need was anticipated. This doesn’t usually happen. Normally someone has a bad experience when we go with six. We were all so pleased. Thank you St Eve’s. We love the ambiance, the service AND the food!!!
Our second night in a row. Fantastic meal. The wait staff is clearly professionally trained, and the food is outstanding. I only wish the portions were slightly larger.
Excellent. Food and service
Excellent all around!!!
Reception at door was genuinely friendly and helpful. The menu was extensive. The food and wait staff was superior and will satisfy those who appreciate a great chef. The only demerit was the noise level. We went to the earliest (5:45pm) dinner when there were few people and was quiet. By the time we left a couple of hours later the noise level was much higher than we like but not enough to spoil our dinner.
As usual the food was excellent!!
First time at St Eve’s. My wife and I enjoyed the experience. Food was a little pricey , but good. Liked the ambiance, but it did get a little noisy as the evening progressed. Thought it was equal or better than the other area BYOB establishments we frequent. Will definitely return
Great food and service
I have been to this restaurant several times but have never been rushed out before. It was clear when we went for dinner at 6 they wanted us out quickly as the waiter asked for our food selection within 3 minutes of being seated. When we asked for more time the waiter gave us another 5 minutes. The main course came out so quickly we didn’t have a chance to finish the appetizer. After they rushed out dessert they asked us to leave for the next seating. The person who asked us to leave wasn’t even apologetic. It was the Saturday of Valentines weekend but there was no special menu or disclosed seatings. There were also empty tables when we left and no one waiting so why the rush. If you have time limits you need to disclose that. The table next to us was so loud that they apologized but the restaurant could care less. Very disappointing so now we will need to find a new place to have a leisurely dinner.
Always a great meal. It’s obvious they still have a passion for food.
Food is exotic and unique, don’t forget to bring your own wine/drinks. Place is small but quaint. Excellent service and good atmosphere for dates/special occasions.
There was a limited prix fixe menu for Valentine’s Day, so this may not be the experience every night. But I found the food slightly disappointing. I ordered a pasta ragout to begin, but it had a cocoa dusting on the meat which took away from the savory dish. My lamb shank was 50% fatty and the carrots in my dish weren’t just undercooked, they were uncooked. Completely raw, unseasoned carrots. Service was delightful, but I’d avoid the big prix fixe nights.
Everything was awesome except seating needs to change. To close to other couples. No privacy.
Excellent food and byob. Lively casual atmosphere.
The food was amazing! We ordered a mussels appetizer, fig appetizer and burrata appetizer. All 3 were delicious. My friend and I had the filet mignon stuffed ravioli's with short ribs for dinner and my husband and our other friend had swordfish. All of our meals were excellent. The restaurant itself is beautiful. And the fact that it's a byob with a liquor store right next door makes this place a perfect gem!
Always good food and friendly service.Try the endive salad.Second to none.
St Eves is always exceptional.
Mahi mahi so so ......rest very good.
It took our server almost a half hour after sat down to give us menus and we had to ask for them. We also had to ask for more water and bread a few times and he seemed annoyed. The hostess was very polite and asked us how our food was. The food was excellent!
Delicious food. Very accommodating. Look forward to returning. Thank you.
The food and service was excellent. BYOB is a nice added bonus.
The restaurant was very noisy. You could not hear your partner. They need panels to absorb sound. I would not return because you cannot be intimate in discussion.
While a favorite place - not this night. Private party closed off main room. Side room was so loud hard to hear ourselves and one meal was sent back twice. Will try again but make sure no private event is scheduled for same time.
Haven't been to St. Eves for some time. Mostly because we cannot get reservations at a time that suits us and mostly because I wait until the last minute to try,
Managed to make reservations for this past Saturday and the experience was awesome. Great food, great service, superb ambiance and I especially liked the woman manning (is that correct?) the coat check. She was super nice.
Our reservation was early. 6:30 and the noise level from the nearly full restaurant, was most acceptable. We were able to converse quietly and could actually hear each other without difficulty. Something my ears appreciate.
Over all, an excellent experience.
Always enjoy St. Eves.
A gem with wonderful food, service, and it's BYO.
Great food. Excellent staff. Consistently great experience.
We were there on New Year’s Eve. Pre Fixe menu but plenty of optima. Al looked good. Food was great as always.
Amazing service and exceptional food.
New Year's Eve dinner was excellent. Great choices for a pre-fix menu. Service was great and the food timing was very good.
We had a delicious New Year’s Eve dinner. The food and the service were both outstanding.
I Put a search for best BYOB in Bergen county and St Eves was 1 of the restaurants that came up. Seeing as we had never been we tried it and were extremely pleased with our experience. They have a polished staff that is there to make sure you have a pleasurable experience and let's not forget about the food. That was just flat out delicious. We will most definitely be going back.
Date with the wife
Food was delicious. Service was good. Would recommend. Am looking forward to going back
