SERVICE WAS POOR, Food and Location Amazing!
After reading a few mixed reviews I have to say everyone is telling the truth. While it’s expensive (what isn’t in Australia) the decor and location is amazing! My food was amazing but all of that was over shadowed by the lack of attentiveness and care of our server. Working in the industry for over a decade I know BS when I hear it and our server was too carefree. It took 25min and 3 request for drinks, I wasn’t able to substitute a side due to a busy kitchen (restaurant was 40% full at best), she should’ve told the truth that their head chef doesn’t like substitutions. She even asked if her rejecting my request was okay. We saw her a total of 4 times, however the server beside us seem to be doing an amazing job.
Overall visit was good but visiting again??
Fabulous spot. You need to know that the restaurant is upstairs. Couldn't find it. Staff downstairs at the less formal bar a bit offhand. Stupid, don't you know it's upstairs!!! Not nice to be put off so early in the experience. Staff upstairs the exact opposite. Almost too obsequious. Couldn't split bill. When are Australian restraunteurs going to get with it? Don't they ever travel to the USA? Actually, in Melbourne splitting bills is really catching on. Have had no trouble there.
Lovely views and a good menu. Would like to see a few more wines and cocktails added to the menu but this is an observation not a criticism.
Great location, excellent service, food was a touch overpriced. Chips were cold and meat slightly over cooked could find a better meal for a cheaper price... but you’re paying for the location. Dessert took 35mins bad end to a reasonable 3/5 rating.
great location , fantastic Beers, good food excellent service
great for a special occasion/anniversary , enjoyed the whole experience.
Service was slow and weren’t able to recommend food. View is lovely however bookings only available in restaurant which is quiet
Second visit. With interstate visitors . No view if there is a ship berthed at Overseas Passenger Terminal and that is frequently.
Scallop and crab entrée extremely overpriced . When we complained we were told the scallops were flattened and then thinly sliced into ribbons. Could not have even been one scallop on the plate.
Service slow and restaurant was not even full.
Spanner crab salad was good.
Great food great location
Good view & nice rose wine
I requested a seat with views of the Harbour since we were celebrating my mum's birthday, and they did not dissapooiint. We had a great seat with views of the Harbour Bridge & Luna Park (Unfortunately a cruise liner was docked so it blocked the Opera House view).
Great and attentive team, who were happy to answer all our questions. The lovely waitress even spoke to her manager without any prompting from us about swapping the beers that were included in our package to softdrink since we weren't drinking alcohol.
This was a great experience! The view is beautiful and the service was amazing. We had three waiters introduce themselves and mention to reach out if we needed anything and checked on us throughout our whole meal experience. When I mentioned it was my partner’s birthday they gave him a free beer too. The food was yummy and moderate priced - would definitely recommend for a fine dining experience or special occasion!
Great setting with views across the Harbour towards the Opera House and Bridge. Food is pricey what is pub grub and even then the quality wasn't great. We had the 2 course lunch special which offered value but wasn't great. Both dishes served with the same pickled veg. Whilst the waitress was nice, service was slow and we had to repeatedly ask about our drinks.
Very comfortable, good ambiance, expansive wine list. However, fillets were exceptionally salty to the extent of being virtually inedible. Staff corrected the issue and the second attempt was much improved.
The food was excellent and our service was wonderful.
Fresh and tasty dishes, friendly staff, fabulous view, great wine list. A little noisy as there were a large group nearby to us so we found it hard to hear each other, but overall the food and view were highlights
Wonderful dinner for four. Steaks were really nice but the share plates were not worth the price and were not really designed to be shared. Great view if you sit in the right spot. I would recommend checking the cruise ship schedule before making your booking as this will block the majority of the view
Really beautiful view! Service was friendly and the food was really good :)
Good food and great spot.. a little on the pricey side for drinks. But the food was excellent.
My partner and I visited the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant views were beautiful, great view of the opera house and could see the harbour bridge from the other side of the restaurant. The service was excellent, our waiter was great for recommendations and very friendly and attentive. We could not fault the food, we ordered steak and it was delicious. The setting was exactly what we wanted, not too formal but not too casual either, just what we wanted. The only issue was a charge for water which we hadn’t realised, ended up adding $16 to our bill, which isn’t huge, just was unexpected. Otherwise, it was a perfect evening 😊
Everything was superb, except there was a jolly big boat in the way so we couldn't see the opera house.
Good food, good service & a good view. Would go back again
Stunning service and an absolutely amazing atmosphere
I took my partner to Squire’s landing for her birthday. The food and the service did not disappoint! Stella views and some of the best gnochi i’ve tried.
We had a great night celebrating my husbands birthday! We had a great table with an amazing view! Dinner was delicious and our waitress was awesome! Thanks for the perfect dining experience!
Why the change? I have been to this restaurant on many occasions since it opened in June. It was a great place for a relaxed lunch and was not cheap, but not ridiculously expensive. But what a shame when I visited on Friday to see a different menu? One that is horrendously expensive with prices that would not be out of place in a very upmarket five star restaurant. Steaks range from $42 to $68, whole fish is $49 and the moreton bay bug ravioli is $44. Really!! The unfortunate thing is that it doesn't live up to these prices.
Two parties waiting to be seated while two waitresses chatted before the maitre'd finally turned up. Wine arrived but we were not shown the label nor asked to taste the wine. We both had chicken (the only thing that attracted my attention and wasn't over $40) which was ok but was not hot enough and quite bland. The beautiful chunky chips that used be served are now just fries .... nice, but again nothing out of the ordinary. Plates taken away, and waitress was taking the fries away before asking if we had finished.
Don't get me wrong. I don't mind paying these kind of prices if it is an experience. Something that is amazing from beginning to end and food that is beautifully crafted and a lot of time has been taken to prepare it. And I don't mind so so service if I'm not paying high prices. Squires Landing is now neither of these. It's just crazy prices and very ordinary service. I assume they are now pandering to tourists and not people who they believe might be return customers.
As I said, what a shame! The only thing really going for it now is the view.
The rib fillet was amazing. The best tables in my opinion are located outside however note only the bar menu is available outside and it's self service. Would highly recommend the venue on a sunny day or sunset for quality food with good beers.
Oh wow. Where to start. We waited an out for our food which was promptly sent back. I requested a medium steak and it was practically blue. My bestie ordered medium-rare and hers was well done. They were different cuts of meat or we could have swapped. My second steak came out rare and soooo fatty and gristly. Inedible was the only word for it. The fries were yummy, carrots were cold and the goats cheese on the brocollini was so bitter it was inedible. A carafe of still water was charged at $9.50 without our prior knowledge and we had to really fight our battle against a rude and standoffish manager who was really not pleased to take our complaint or to offer compensation. You guys really need to up your game. The venue is beautiful and our waiter was lovely.
Extremely disappointing. We went on a Tuesday lunch time so there were not many people there but our food took ages to come out and it was cold. I ordered the haloumi burger and chips. Haloumi is best served freshly cooked but this was cold and rubbery. And the chips had barely any heat to them at all. I'd hate to see how they do when they're actually busy!
Tasty food and great views!
An excellent experience which was a fabulous way to showcase my city for an interstate guest - I'll be recommending this venue to anyone who wants to listen
No review. No review
Went for a birthday celebration. The views are great as promised. The menu is a focus on meat - and the steaks were the highlight for us. The pork crackling was great albeit plenty salty. The portions are generous - we shared two mains and were filled. The wine list was far better than expected - plenty of value choices - though excellent for those who prefer beer. Tables a bit close together but as expected for a place with this view.
Beautiful setting, I met friends here who were visiting from Ireland. It was perfect.. definitely had that wow factor. Delicious food looking out over the Sydney opera house.
Excellent venue, our new favourite place to go in Sydney. Views are amazing. Really love this place!
My children invited me and my wife on fathers day. The food was excellent from entrée to dessert. Not cheap but worth it. Great views of Sydney too unless a ship is in port,
Great environment and awesome food, great value for the money you pay, great experience. ;)
I made a reservation for my third anniversary, on the reservation which I made with two weeks in advance I specified to have a table with a nice view due to the occasion. They seated us at a table that it had bad views, and I asked the manager if he could be able to seat inside where it had better views and he denied it. I understood that it might be because someone made a reservation. However, I finish dinner and still tables available with the nice views. The menu was short on diversity of food, I could say that the bar below the restaurant has better food than the actual restaurant. Desert really poor. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all. Maybe the bar under.
Foods were great (we had the Calamari, Halloumi, Half Chicken, and the 400g Rump steak), as well as the staff. They are very friendly and attentive to the customers' needs.
The place has a nice view of the harbor bridge and Opera House (though when we went there, a cruise ship was docked in the harbor, which blocked the view of the Opera House).
Overall, it was a great dinning experience and will definitely come back to this place.
Had a wonderful experience on Sunday night. Food was delicious & the beer selection magnificent. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Will go back.
