I took my mom and nephew for my nephew's 21st birthday. We reserved a table in advance which obligated us to a $150 f&b minimum for just 3 people. The greeting at the door by the host wasn't the most pleasant. From the traverse to the table led by the host who wasn't very friendly (to say the least) to shooing away the frat guys who were sitting at our 'Reserved' table to waiting almost 15 minutes before a server even acknowledged us, it was a bumpy start. But then the service was not the best. And the server knew it. He tried to compensate for it by being very friendly but that didn't much help the waiting and the mistakes he made and the poorly made drinks. How do you mess up a classic margarita? Well, apparently that's not hard to do. And the counter height deck chairs lined against the outer walls that we sat in were uncomfortable and some were in bad shape.
I think the big let down is the high expectation that comes with such a unique and upscale place like this one only to be smacked with the reality that it's not that great. My mom and nephew at the end of it were like "meh..." as I wanted to take them there to show them some of the best of what LA has to offer since they were visiting from Indiana. Apart from the awesome view, they weren't impressed.
Our server was short with her words and rude. One of our items we ordered ran out but took them 30 min to tell us they were out and by that time the other food was on our table getting cold. Over all stupid expensive for how crapy your service was you need to talk with alll of your staff about costermer service.
We were sat on time however our waitress took our drink order (two waters) and then proceeded to disappear for 30 minutes. Yes, Thirty Minutes. That alone is just awful. We finally got up and asked for assistance and she came over 5 mins after that and actually stopped to take the table next to us (who had just been sat a couple minutes prior) entire order. When she approached us she just said “okay, guys what’s looking good.” As if she didn’t just abandon her table in a nearly empty rooftop bar for half an hour. It was my partners birthday so we just decided to make the best of it and the food was actually delicious! The ambiance and the view doesn’t hurt. So however once we got our food—she was MIA again. After a while we started wanting dessert, and also we needed to buy $100 worth of food, so 15, 20 minutes pass by (and this is well after our meal is done plates cleared by someone else) and i decide to flag someone down and order dessert. That’s when I was told the kitchen was closed! It closed long before this. They offered to make us drinks instead but we didn’t want drinks (AGAIN it was someone’s birthday?? and the waitress knew this!) We decided just to leave and they were like “sorry you still need to spend 15 dollars.” and they also basically said your waitress went home. I said no. They gave me a bill with GRATUITY included despite it saying they won’t do that on their menu (they really wanted that $100) I was so disappointed I’ll never come back. I’ve received better service else where—this was shameful.
This is the place you want to visit once a lifetime. It has the skyview as you imagine, music and food in open door. Good to have space and bright sunshine.
The views are amazing, but cost is a bit steep for the quality of food and drinks.
Food and drinks were underwhelming. Service was not amazing. The hotel is beautiful and has great views. I would recommend this place for the view but not for dining.
They forced me to tip $20 plus an $20 table fee. I want a refund
The usual great staff view food what up to par and drinks were flowing
It’s an awesome place but really small selection on food, and it’s mostly junk food. When you go to a place like this you want good food too, so kind of was disappointed in that, but the service, view, and the DJ were amazing!
All was lovely however for the amount one pays for the experience I would expect that the windows be clean ....after all folks are coming here primarily for the view and you are unable to view it without looking through glass partition barriers. On my recent visit the windows were filthy...this detail alone would keep me from returning as I don't see the value in spending several hundred dollars entertaining clients when the main draw is obscured. Management should figure this detail out...the windows should be spotless at the start of each evening...this would likely increase business....
Great view and so glad we finally got to visit this place.
Great food and awesome atmosphere but poor service.
They need to get a new cheff
The burger was not well grill
The bun was cold and the cabbage I get 7 pices for 18 dollar and it wasn't great
It taste like old oil
Olso the mochi dressert that I get
The mochi from Costco taste better
Although the location is spectacular and you must visit at least once due to the view ... Spire 73 is advertised as a rooftop bar and restaurant. It's a rooftop bar.. that's it. Upon arrival the 2nd waiter was great ! However , him and the view were the only great part of the night. There are 5 total food options on the menu and 3 were no longer available, The bartenders at the bar took over 30min to acknowledge my group of 4. We only went up to the bar because no one contacted us at our table for 20min even after our credit card was placed on hold for 350 dollars of minimum food and drinks. It was quite disappointing... we had been planning on visiting this place for more than 2 months. The food wasn't the most frustrating, it was the lack of customer service and overall acknowledgement. We needed up leaving and headed down the street to a place called JOEY DTLA. The service was incredibly helpful and kind. It made up for our view with disappointment from Spire 73
Overall experience was decent. Had high expectations walking in, those quickly went away when trying to order drinks and food. Reserved a table
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! We had a reservation and had to wait over 30 minutes. When approached by management, we were scolded and asked "so do you want the table or not" what kind of customer service is that?? This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel roof top bar. NEVER GOING BACK!!
Really enjoy coming here especially during sunset. The drinks and bar snacks are tasty and the views are incredible.
This is the best evening view of LA by far and they make you pay for it. The welcoming experience is ordinary as you’re asked for ID and a credit card before even entering the restaurant. The service once seated is great but the food is average.
Drink and enjoy the view!
This place had a great atmosphere and was first time here. Made reservations which came with minimums but menu is on pricier side so hitting minimums was easy to do. Overall enjoyable experience.
Tables and seating is extremely cheap and uncomfortable. Food and ambience is great. Service also good.
Sucked!! Will Never go Back!!
Overall our night was great. Great atmosphere and view.
Insists on taking your driver’s license and a credit card and keeping it for the entire time you are there before they will even allow to order. Arrogant and obnoxiously hipster, overpriced. Will never set foot there again and will tell everyone I know to avoid it.
Booked for a weekday dinner with friends and family, But did not advise no minor. Was my birtday and was dissappointed and cancelled everything.
A real cool place to experience if you have the chance to do so while in LA. Prices are typical for LA but the food was good and the drink menu had a nice variety but being outside, 73 floors up and being able to enjoy those views (when it isnt smoggy/foggy 😉) is where you get your money's worth. And when the helicopters buzz by, you feel like you're in one of those Hollywood thrillers!!!
Love this place, but disappointed that you have to take your caps off when it gets dark.
It became quite obvious that this place is only relying on the view from 73 floors above downtown Los Angeles.
I’ll try keep this brief as I could rant for awhile.
Staff - Sandra at check in was lovely
Wait staff - inattentive & perhaps inexperienced
Manager - made excuses for the error in our order, tried to blame the kitchen & everything else it seemed. Rude.
Made a reservation, warning...they charge for ‘private booth’ which was a bar table with uncomfortable bar stools, though we were at the window for view.
Minimum order of $50 person. I’m actually okay with that except in this case many of the items on a limited menu were not available.
It’s chilly up that high but they have no throw rugs and the heaters are ineffective.
I’ve been to one of the worlds most amazing rooftop bars/restaurants in Bangkok and it was all about service.
I saw my dining friends last night & we all discovered that each of us felt ill after eating here.
Spire 73 has such an amazing opportunity to create a ‘must experience venue’ in L.A and they’ve dropped the ball dramatically.
This is basic pub food at ‘elevated’ prices.
If you want a view, go to the 70th floor for the lookout then check out the many other downtown Los Angeles places to ear & drink.
We should have gone to Perch
I booked a private area for my 30th birthday party at Spire 73 and it was such a blast. The service was great, food and drinks were amazing, and everyone loved the view. We had a wonderful time. The space is gorgeous, I highly recommend hosting an event here!
The atmosphere was great but my table service was horrible. more than 1/2 an hour waiting for waitress and then we had to wait another half an hour to get our drinks. Even if it is a cup of water.
Had a wonderful experience sipping champagne and enjoying views of the city!
Great staff great food and great atmosphere. Highly recommend the experience!
It is worth the view, however, service and food options were lacking, and it was incredibly loud.
Great city views, but a more club like atmosphere even early in the evening (7pm). Menu is mostly light plate, which were delicious, but would have liked a bit more offerings to meet the $200 minimum spend.
Thanks to Chris we have an excellent experience!!
Service could have been better especially when you have $150 minimum on reservation table and not that crowded.
I enjoyed the experience! If I could do this every weekend I would. Wish I could have remembered to take a picture of the mochi icecream creation. It felt and tasted like I was eating icecream jello. So yummy!
We went for drinks and appetizers before a late dinner. The cover charge and per person minimum of $60 is not a problem. The problem was the wine menu was poor, the carnitas fries were a mess and greasy and the pork was dry bordering on inedible. The view is wonderful, the seating terribly uncomfortable and no fans or misting so the temperature was horrendous. The late night scene may be excellent, but not a good pick for business partners.
Absolutely loved it thank you
Service great and food amazing! Especially the carnitos fries
Awesome place , great costumer service ! Amazing view
