Sophie's Steakhouse Soho
Nice play to go after attending a show. Beautiful meat. Good music and ambiance
Food was brilliant and staff were friendly if a little slow to serve when we first got there. I will return as it is a great atmosphere and the food was well worth it!
Excellent all round!
Food and service was both tasty and prompt.
The food was delicious! As a vegetarian I wasn't sure what choices I would have whilst my husband tucked into his steak, but I had the mostly delicious meal. We both loved the food, couldn't fault it.
Service was great too, Jess our waitress took great care of us. Lovely restaurant in the heart of theatre land, would highly recommend.
Its not cheap and cheerful...but you certainly get what you pay for.
Our second visit, we don’t get to London very often but love coming to Sophie’s. Always a great ambience, steak excellent and service friendly and attentive. We will be back 👍🏻
Tried Sophies for the first time - buoyed on by a good website and some decent review. I'm afraid I can only say it was average at best. With so many great options available these days Sophies fell well short of the mark. Granted, this was a 6.00pm pre-theatre booking and perhaps the atmosphere is better later in an evening but my steak was nowhere near as good as it should have been when most restaurants can do a really good steak and some do a fantastic steak (Hawksmoor, Flat Iron, even Steak & Co etc). The chicken option was unimaginative and similar to something you might get at a pub chain. A casual place that just didn't feel in any way special. Sorry, but I will go elsewhere in future.
The reason for the fairly low rating is that, although the steak was perfectly cooked, the whole experience was somewhat influenced by the very smokey room we were seated in. Our eyes started to sting because of the smoke and when we came out of the restaurant we smelled so badly of smoke that people were commenting on it.
I took my daughter for dinner and we wanted to have a good steak somewhere that wasn’t stuffy or full of city types and Sophie’s was perfect, being quite relaxed and stylish. The food was great but meat apart, gluten free options were limited for my coeliac daughter. However, credit to the waiter, he took care to check with the kitchen how some side dishes could be prepared. However we did feel that service could have been more attentive, especially as the restaurant was quiet.
Overall the food was great, the atmosphere really friendly and I’m sure I’ll be back.
Food and drinks was good service was great,I excellent service
lovely place, staff kind and welcoming, food very good and the wine selection nice and broad
We have been to Sophie’s in the past a few time in Covent Garden. We were totally disappointed with our experience on Friday. Firstly charged £28 for 2 gin and tonics. We asked for lemonade but still that price is disgraceful I could buy a full bottle of gin for that price. We did get half our money back as wer we given doubles that we didn’t ask for and also tonic instead of lemonade. We where then seated for food as it turned into a bigger disaster. The starters was awful and as for the mains piece of meat on the plate and no sides is not a great dining experience at all. We didn’t even get told we needed to order sides when we ordered. My steak was meant to be medium to rare and it was well done. My boyfriend never touched his ribs. The kitchen staff were on their phones and looked bored and considering they are on view to the customers it was a really terrible look. The atmosphere felt awkward. The manager could apologise anymore than he did and he didn’t charge us for the food and got us a complimentary drink and cake which was nice but we were hungry and not happy. overall we will never return again.
The food is top notch, the atmosphere lively and entertaining, however, given the open kitchen concept we came away strongly smelling of smoke and the aromas of the cooked food. Still would strongly recommend this restaurant. Its a must visit for me when in London.
Great Atmosphere and the table we had was amazing, right by the fire pit. Service was a little slow near the end but overall it is a great restaurant and I would recommend anyone try it for themselves
Great place for pre-theatre food. Set menu good value. Service excellent and meal very tasty.
Had an absolutely lovely time, the food was perfect and melted in your mouth, the service was cheerful and very attentive to me and my other half, the seats were very comfortable, everything was immaculately clean and the bathrooms were clean, spacious and had some of the best smelling hand wash I've used outside of home. All together it was just a very pleasant experience and I would happily visit again.
The food and drink and the atmosphere were great. But the service was not up to standard. We ordered starters and mains. When our mains arrived first, we enquired about our starters. Our waiter just said, "it didn't go through". No apologies at all. He said it with a tone of obvious and was completely unhelpful. We didn't want to be served cold rib eye steaks so we said we would cancel our steaks. When the bill came it listed out one rib-eye and one rump. We questioned about it, the same waiter questioned us back accusingly, "you sure you ate two ribeyes?". We ordered two ribeyes with him, the server that put down the food said two ribeyes. We are not expert in differentiating steak, it did not occur to us have to question the server, we trusted the waiter had put the right order through, and the server bought the right food and named the dishes correctly. The waiter then took the bill off the table with a gesture and stormed off to had it corrected. It was a joint birthday celebration and he put a damper on the night. Not sure I would go back. But the food is good and the bar service was good, so I would recommend to friends based on that, and wish them luck not to be served by that particular waiter.
Stakes were good. Service good. Fixed price menu was a good value.
Quite overpriced for the value, you have to order sides to the steak and they cost 4-6 pounds each so ended up paying over a hundred pounds bill for 2 people. Overall, food quality was good, but not great.
Service is really good and everyone is polite, helpful and they have knowledge on the menu. Meat is amazingly cooked. Too noisy though even when not full.
Enjoyable experience, waiter knew his stuff, food good, on time and pleasant people
The music was way too loud - impossible to talk to each other.
Very poor for gluten free choices. We had to abandon our evening here as inflexible kitchen for dietary requirements
Fantastic meal, would thoroughly recommend!
We really enjoyed the food, in particular the sirloin steak and the crispy squid, and the cocktails were fabulous! Unfortunately it did take us rather a long time to be served once we were seated and service for drinks / the bill was very slow between courses as well. The location is great and the vibe inside is very cool. Would definitely return despite the slow service this time round.
Food was excellent
Service very slow and unfriendly despite 12.5 percent gratuity added to bill
Big roast dinners were the highlight of our visit to Sophie’s. The wait staff were very friendly and the decor really interesting. The place had a nice vibe and service was quick. A couple of us had dietary requirements and the staff were really knowledgeable about what we couldn’t and couldn’t have - there were plenty of options.
We slipped into the Soho restaurant for a Sunday lunch and were very happy that we did so. Excellent food (we had the shared steak) and the service was excellent and un-rushed. We had a long chat with one of the waiters, Simone, about music, who was really friendly and knowledgeable.
We normally spend no more than 30-40 mins in a restaurant on an afternoon, but must have been there for at least 90 minutes. We'll be back.
One of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Great service.
Sides are not as good as the meat though and the music is too loud - the room needs some acoustic treatment to stop the whole thing from becoming a cacophony!
First visit and not disappointed! Great food, drinks, atmosphere, service, attention to detail when discussing allergies etc. Will definitely return
Absolutely lovely! Definitely worth the visit. Set menu is great and the steak was cooked to perfection. Lovely open plan restaurant with plenty going on.
I went to Sophie's with some friends of mine not too long ago.
The place was nice and also the service was good.
We ordered calamari to share for 3 people but were not informed about the size of the portion what was disappointing as we ended up having a 1 piece and an half each. Then we had 2 beef short ribs what was one more dissapointment - outside was burned, meat was dry and very little. This is one of my favourite dishes which I order most of the time when dining out and usually the portion is much bigger for the same price.
Have been told the ribs are good as well
Perfect venue for our farewell dinner to our friend. Attentive staff, nice vibe and good food
We arrived and were told that our OpenTable reservation wasn’t valid because OpenTable doesn’t actually plug into their own reservation system... luckily we still managed to get a table.
Good location. Service good.
Very expensive food, steak not well cooked at £69 for chateaubriand cut. Chips cold and undercooked, side salad limp and not fresh. Sadly the peppercorn sauce was so watery we didn’t touch it. A shame as restaurant great ambience but food average.
Great vibe. Delicious food and wine at a very reasonable price. My first visit with 5 girl friends. Lovely round sociable table. Will definitely return.
It was my first visit. I loved the design and the menu was good, hard to choose. We all had the Caesar salad which was delicious. I would definitely go back.
Wings were too crispy and dry although mackerel was fantastic. Thought steak was poor and a bit tough, tasted like it had been sitting out for a while too.
Had the Sunday Roast and it was lovely, can highly recommend
