Nice environment, friendly staff, straight forward menu that tastes good.
Food was amazing! Service too and the ambiance and the place are just grwat
Great brunch with outdoor seating. Delicious avocado toast!
It has been over a year since I last dined here due to the absolutely horrible service I had. However, Eric, our server last night, was one of the best I’ve had in Chicago over the past 10 years! It started with a glass of champagne to set the tone for trying to make right my last experience- bonus points. He was super friendly, provided excellent recommendations on drinks and food (although I’d say it’s hard to go wrong here), engaged in funny conversations with our group (girls night out), and is the reason I’ll most definitely be back! Oh, and the evening was topped off with truffles - melt me, they were delish! This was a perfect Saturday night dinner and hangout spot, before heading up to the equally awesome rooftop bar Devereaux. Loved this place- the beautiful table out front by the tree with the hanging lights, people watching while having fantastic food and drinks - just perfect!
Food and service were excellent. The noise level was higher than we would have liked, but we were still able to have a good conversation. (We ate outside on a warm summer day.)
Beautiful space - inside and out. Our server Karen was great, very attentive, knew the menu incredibly well and took care of our dog who we brought with us.
I had the heirloom tomato sandwich, which was good but not exceptional. Both of my table mates were very impressed with their meals, so I’ll try something else next time. I also had a rosemary lemon mock tail which was delicious.
Had lunch with family. We loved it! Great food and nice environment!
Fun lunch date with a friend! Quick service and delicious food!
We had an incredible experience! Diego is a wonderful server and showed us so much hospitality. We really enjoyed the Liquid Farms Chardonnay and the overall energy of the restaurant.
There were 6 in our party and the service was pretty good. HOWEVER, the food was terrible. The coffee was ice cold, every omelette was cold, potatoes were cold and the worst part was there was a bug in one of the meals. The manager did the right thing and comped the bill, she could not have been more apologetic, but we were shocked that a restaurant in a Viceroy Hotel had something like this happen.
There was absolutely no rain but they wouldn’t seat us on the patio because there was a “chance” of rain, and the wait for the patio was an hour. It didn’t rain the entire time we were there. And I don’t understand how the wait could be an hour when we had a reservation. It was very odd and poorly communicated to us and we overheard them saying the same thing to other people. It just put a damper on the whole experience.
I visited with my boyfriend for his 21st birthday and the service was incredible. Four staff members wished him a happy birthday, they printed his own menu which said “Happy 21st birthday” and brought out a complimentary pastry. This was all in addition to delicious food, prompt service, and wonderful ambiance. A fantastic high end brunch spot!
Excellent all around! Great food, service, and ambiance! Also in my favorite area of Chicago!
Beautiful restaurant, great location but disappointing experience. I came here for brunch with friends to celebrate my birthday. The service was slow, the food was lacking in flavor and drinks were mediocre. I will not return.
It was a fun and enjoyable experience Staff is very well trsined
Try this restaurant and bar. You won't be disappointed! This is the fourth time I've dined there and was impressed with their accommodation of vegans as well as omnivores in my company.
Service could have been better. Waited 20 minutes in the heat before any acknowledgement then another while for even water. Food was pretty good.
Good brunch options
Not too expensive
We were sitting by the door and there were many flies and mosquitoes at our table (one got in our drink)
The avocado used for the avocado toast didn’t taste fresh (tasted store bought/prepackaged)
Most likely but not great experience. Service as poor and food mediocre.
Had brunch on the patio. Food was good, space was very comfortable and fun. Server was a little inattentive but overall had a good time. Will be back!
Nos sentaron arriba que casi no hay ambiente, además que se demoraron mucho en atendernos.
Yesterday’s service was extremely bad, 30 minutes for anyone to come to our tables. Then 45 minutes to get our food and the food was super cold and we all got sick from it. It was very upsetting that the manager never stopped by our table but yet gave the table next to us a free bottle of wine because of the bad service. I’m regular here and after yesterday’s experience I plan not to return or recommend the restaurant. Really bad service and food was not the best!
Our experience at Somerset this evening was beyond compare. Our only complaint might be the fact that our appetizers and entrees left us so completely stuffed that none of the six of us was able to even contemplate dessert, and based on what had gone before it is a pretty good bet that dessert would have been spectacular!
While the food and drinks and atmosphere were all wonderful they were all eclipsed by the warm, attentive, charming and professional staff, none more lovely than our server Freddie who made us feel so welcomed and appreciated I felt compelled to rave about him to the manager on my way out.
Next time I am in Chicago I would be thrilled to dine with Somerset again, and again and again!
Food preparation quality is competent, service level is poor. It benefits from an active location but is otherwise forgettable.
Smoked octopus appetizer was outstanding. Cod fritters crispy crunchy outside with a perfect center
Highly recommend signature chicken and boneless short ribs both of which were to die for
Great food ,good service .
Extremely noisy hard to carry a conversation.
This is my ideal restaurant!! The staff will accommodate your every need, from table configuration to alterations in your food order. We sat inside but the windows were open to the beautiful spring day and the fresh air and fine food made for a very special experience!! My friend is on a low carb diet and there were even options for her that she loved. I love that a small salad can accompany your eggs, instead of more fattening traditional foods, like breads. But if you choose bread, it will to delicious and home made!! Everything about Somerset Restaurant is top notch!!!
It was a beautiful night and we enjoyed the rooftop prior to dinner. Which was great. Dinner was wonderful, I had the Scallops which were exceptional, my husband the short ribs and the smoked beet appetizer amazing!! My husband said the oysters were great as well. Can’t wait to come back!!!
Enjoy the atmosphere and the food and service are very good. Feels as if I'm on a holiday!
Food was solid, nicely presented and fresh. Blood Mary is highly recommended for brunch.
Nice decor and setting but food is extremely overpriced. Very poor value for your money. There’s dozens of better places to dine in the area. I would not go back.
Amazing food in a fun place
Brunch at Somerset is one of my favorites, but the dinner menu has never especially appealed to me as a non-seafood eater. I will say, though, that you can still find plenty delicious food to eat, including the prosciutto pizza and potato side; so good. A bonus is the delicious rolls they bring to start.
Had been looking forward to eating here for months. Booked a reservation for 6:15 on Father's Day, party of six. Arrived and was seated right away, the restaurant was about half full.
The rest of the evening was extremely disappointing: The cocktails were served in the smallest glasses I can remember, with the pour being even smaller. Two of us ordered their signature dish; the full roasted chicken served in the pan. The pans, although placed on trivets were ice cold and the chicken was luke warm at best. My father does not like making a fuss, so asked me not to call the waiters over. Finally, both chicken dinners were only half eaten and we each requested a box to take home. The waiter brings a bag with both orders placed in one container. Not a great evening...will not recommend nor ever go back. Too many other places to eat within walking distance, better pours, better food and better service.
The avocado toast tasted like fast-food-avocado, made days ago and my egg was so undercooked I gagged. We had asked for the pancakes to be divided onto 2 plates, they didn't and it took us over 5 minutes to get someone to ask for an additional plate and syrup bc they forgot to bring it out. That doesn't seem like an long time, but when you have a 3 and 4 year old fighting for the pancakes, you get frustrated at the lack of service.
Can’t say enough good things about Somerset! Went on a Sat night to celebrate my niece’s birthday and we were treated like royalty. The sommelier helped us pick a great and reasonably priced bottle of champagne. Our server was fantastic with suggestions and helping us with our meal. The beet appetizer is NOT to be missed. The restaurant wasn’t overly crowded and the noise level was low, so we could hear each other talk! Thanks again for a great night-will definitely be back for the next special occasion.
Very cool, trendy spot!! Had the “Baked Egg” dish based on the servers recommendation which was fabulous if u r a Marana fan like I am. Great service; Kerianne is the best!
Beautiful atmosphere, kind staff, and delicious food from a diverse menu. Great drinks, too!
We sat outside and it was lovely. The food was excellent- especially the grilled mushrooms, which were delicious!
We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the service and cuisine having just flown in that evening! Highly recommend!
