Great meal, outside with live acoustic music, friendly service... scallop app was phenomenal.
It was great!!
Soma Grille is consistently outstanding
Excellent outdoor dining experience with some fantastic food (Some Grille never disappoints). A truly beautiful evening spent with good friends in a great atmosphere.
Dinner and atmosphere was very good...like that the owner comes around and checks in with the diners!
A really great experience, our sever Mason was such a joy and made everything nice for us.
The outdoor setting was beautiful with live music. Good as always was great!
Soma has adapted well to the COVID needs - but not compromised on their cuisine or staffing. Fantastic menu options, lovely food, tasty cocktails. We left stuffed and happy!
So delicious! The outdoor dining was beautiful and the light live music was perfect.
My date was from out of state and he loved it.
Beautiful view. The live music was a nice surprise.
Could have done a better job with the plastic dinnerware it was pretty flimsy. We shared some their small plates and had a bottle of Sav Blanc .
What an awesome time and setting for a last minute night out. Go there and enjoy and the food and service was very good
Love the grille! Eating outside provides a beautiful view. The salmon was superb! Hated that we had to eat off everything disposable but otherwise it was great.
AMAZING food, friendly and efficient service, beautiful patio and live music. Also, great portions! You get a good amount of food for the price. Highly recommend!
Staff was very friendly and definitely wanted to make sure we had a pleasant evening… Nice job!
I really liked the facility. Our service was very good (except for the server forgetting a drink). The food would have been very good except that all our meals were over-salted. I recommend that diners specify no salt, and salt the served meal to their taste.
Great comfort food. A but expensive for what we got but good all around. Not sure why waitress couldn't take all our leftovers back in one trip to pack and seemed to need to make an extra and unnecessary trip back for what we were done with at that point but very nice meal.
First time. Parking was adequate and close. Staff was eager to help and accommodate. Our wait staff was exceptional and certainly tried to meet our requests and was quick w a story and personable.
Food was good. The right amount of portion size for cost. They did forget to bring shrimp w salad and upcharged $10 for 3 lime shrimp.
Dinning room was small and quaint but tables were staged very close together and then they sat next group directly next to you so even though rest of dining room was empty. we had to compete with conversations a few feet away from us.
We adjourned to the bar after dinner and had a cocktail. Bar was nice and service was good. Priced fair and had appropriate selection of wines.
All in all a good experience. We may return but may just belly up and eat at bar next time.
Very expensive for Chicken Caesar salad. It may not make it in Simsbury which is traditionally cheap!
Went there to celebrate my wife’s birthday and it was anything but a celebration!! The only positive experience was not having to wait for a table since we had reservations and the Clam Chowder was great! We waited for 25mins to even be acknowledged at the table. The waitress finally came to bring water, since they were out of sparkling and then disappeared for another 20min. Apparently they must have been running low on tap water as well because it was the only time the glasses got filled. At that point we ordered appetizers and dinners, since I had read the entire menu at least six time. We ordered mussels, which were disgusting and afterwards the waitress said they forgot the sauce and the empty plate for shells 🤦♂️. I ordered the Ribeye with Crab Oscar and Gorgonzola horseradish sauce. It was the same dish that I had on the previous visit. Well I received the most depressing steak I’ve had in a long time. The crab looked like it just came out of can and it was placed on top of the steak as an afterthought. Then for some weird reason a price of butter was placed on the side but since the streak was luke warm it wasn’t melting. I could only eat a couple of bites by dipping them in my son’s Mac & Cheese. Take a look at the picture and save your $50 because it’s a gamble. Fast forward to 1hr after and the waitress finally came to check and we placed for desert order. We ordered the red velvet cake and asked for the check. The cake came out but the waitress forgot silverware!🤷🏻♂️. It was the worst experience, both service and food, I’ve had in a long time! Definitely not planning on going back!
Staff is incredible, John was very attentive and professional. We had a limited menu choice due to Valentine's Day, we'll be back when full menu available, great reviews. We stayed at the Simsbury 1820 Home, it was great to dine right there at Soma Grill, such wonderful ambiance.
Atmosphere and noise is great, food is just okay.
We have enjoyed dining at Soma numerous times so I am sorry to say tonight was a disappointment and we won't be going back. First the good news : the staff is friendly and lovely. My husband ordered simply grilled salmon which was very good. Now the bad news. I ordered the chicken, which came served over gummy, runny 'mashed potatoes'. The chicken was so salty it tasted like it had gone bad. The meal was completely inedible.
Because there was such a long wait for our food, we were offered a free drink or dessert. We ordered a slice of cheesecake. It arrived at the table and we took a bite - and the cheesecake was frozen. Seriously how do you serve semi frozen cheesecake??
Despite clearing a plate of unbeaten entree and desert, we were not asked if everything was OK. There was a long wait, which didn't bother is a we were not in a hurry. The inedible food was the problem.
Waitress did an excellent job but the food is very mediocre the sauce on my husband’s chicken Parmesan tasted like tomato paste right out of a can it was horrible. The short ribs were good but I would recommend not putting it over a potato purée it looked like baby food mush it was unappealing and the flavor was not very good. I would probably go again because I like the atmosphere and it’s a beautiful old hotel but I would probably only order appetizers because the food is pricey and like I said before just mediocre.
Very nice dining experience. The food and service were good and the ambience was charming.
The service while adequate was very slow which may be because of the kitchen. Our food while tasty was cold. Thought this would be better than average.
The encrusted salmon was delicious and cooked to perfection. Just think its pretty pricey and everything is a la carte. Waiter was extremely courteous and friendly. Great atmosphere.
The place had been recently updated which was nice. The waiter we had was new but tried very hard to please. The food I thought was trying to hard to be fancy. Should have kept it a little more simple. Found it strange that they gave us side plates and no bread. Don’t think we will return.
First visit here. Delightful server (Jenna) and delicious food. A little pricey
We made a reservation a few weeks prior to our date on New Years Eve. Despite this, we put in a back room. The menu gave us a few choices. The shrimp cocktail was 3 shrimp, the salad was mediocre and The entrees came out over 2 hrs from when we ordered them and then they were cold. The waitress was snippy. The manager never apologized and no effort was made to reduce our tab for our inconvenience. This was the worst dining experience of our lives and needless to say, we will never eat there again.
This was a horrible evening. NYE price fixe dinner that went awry right away. Entrees still had not come to our table after a 2 hour wait. Food was mediocre at best, service was poor and the basement room cold and uninviting.
In short an absolute disaster of a dinner experience.
Good food, but outrageously expensive. We had reservations, but were seated in the basement well away from any other diners......it felt like we were ignored. Dinner took almost 2 hours, for 2 people eating at 615pm. Unacceptable wait time for dinner to be served--nearly an hour from ordering.
No clear indication on web site, that New Years Eve prix fixe would be the only menu available. Further, that menu had no obvious gluten free choices, and the waitress couldn't provide accurate info about that dietary limitation.
For the price--$162 for 2--we would not eat here again.
We received the wrong entre, the service was spotty and only one of the 2 apps was well made. The staff is very nice, perhaps they just need more training
Food was great but service was very slow. Our drink orders were taken right away and meal orders shortly thereafter. But bread wasn't brought out until 1 1/2 hours later, and dinner in spurts after that.
We waited 2 hours for our entrees to arrive at the table. Waitress told us 4 times she was bringing bread, half an hour later we had bread.
Hello CT Girl, Please accept our most sincere apologies for the untimely service. e appreciate the feedback and we are working on improvements. Thanks, Chris
We went to Soma Grille for Thanksgiving Dinner, and we were thrilled with how delicious all of the food was! We had heard from friends that the food at Soma was outstanding, so we chose this beautiful restaurant as our dinner place for the holiday, and it did not disappoint! We now want to go back and try the Coquettes and other items we didn't get to try. Also, the drinks were really beautifully made, and SO TASTY! We thought they were a great value at about $10 each for a Paloma, which was the best one I've ever had. The atmosphere was lovely - in the Simsbury 1820s house, which is gorgeous, old style, hotel with a very creative use of space. We didn't sit at the bar, but we want to come back and have a more casual experience there because the bar was just a lovely ambience. The parking was plentiful, and it was easy to get to. From the moment we walked in, everyone was smiling, friendly, and went out of their way to be helpful.
We visited Soma Grille on Thanksgiving Day. There was a prix fixe menu so we did not get to try anything on the regular daily menu. The meal all overall was very god although the sides were a little cool for my taste. That said, the entrees were very good and the deserts were as well.
The portions were a little small, but the food was good. Felt it was a lot of money for the portion size.
Thanks for the feedback. We are making those adjustments with our new menu!!
