One of the best Japanese restaurants in Sydney! Great food and a sophisticated sexy atmosphere.
It's all about the food for me. This is the second time I have been to this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. I left a second time wanting to go back a third time. Can't wait fir my next visit. Any excuse will do.
Food is very good. Surprised and disappointed at so many young people taking photos of dishes - seems to be a must do thing / Instragram must venue which spoils atmosphere for diners.
Also music volume increased during the evening converting it to an atmosphere more like a bar than a restaurant.
Service - lots of staff present but average service.
Overall - good food but the experience was not to the standard I expected.
Average food, average service. Got kicked out even though we didn't finish our food. Was told they needed the table back for the next reservation but the table next to us was dirty. The table next to us was so close, you can hear their conversation and it was extremely noisy
The loss of your sommelier has let the restaurant down ... we asked for 2 glasses of Phillip Shaw Pinot noir and the girl returned about 15 minutes later with two glasses of Pinot Gris ... waiting so long and then wrong wine was annoying ... then waited another 5 minutes only to be told they had run out of Pinot Noir ... the food was great but the loss of the sommelier really let this hatted restaurant down ... no drama but not what you would expect in a hatted retaurant
Food, service, atmosphere, timing of how the food arrived was pretty good, just when you think your ready for the next one it came out. Never have to worry about calling for service cause they are always alert. Will come back.
Excellent restaurant. Food spectacular and impeccable service.
Rachel and the sommelier were so helpful.
I was neither wowed or disappointed. The food is nice and extremely interesting but for me the overall experience was let down with a poor ambience and being asked for a tip, when declined our eftpos receipt simply dropped on the table.
Food was great but we were constantly rushed by the waiters and consistantly reminded about the time restraint of our table, when clearly there were other empty tables by the time we finished, and we didn't see anyone waiting to use our table. In the end we only sat in the restaurant for 1 hour and 25 minutes then left, as we were told we had to move to the bar area if we wanted desert. Given it was my wife's birthday, it really wasn't a pleasant experience for an upscale establishment.
Can't fault a thing absolutely fantastic
Fabulous food, beautifully presented with delicate flavours. Staff are very attentive and helpful. If you want fine dining for a special occasion..this is the place for you.
all i want to say is good food and service.
The quality and flavour of the food was exquisite, with lovely staff and perfectly timed serving of each dish
Good quality food and some nice dishes. Just very expensive for its portion. We spent almost $400 for 3 people and we were all stil a tad hungry.
We had a fantastic night, the food and service were both flawless and I will definitely be going back as soon as possible.
The staff were exceptional and we followed recommendations for selection of dishes which were divine! The beautiful balance of flavours combined with stunning presentation made this a most memorable evening.
Good quality Japanese food with plenty of choice and great service
Staff weren’t great unfortunately if you can’t take a simple drink order you shouldn’t be a waitress .
Always a hit. Excellent food, cocktails and atmosphere.
The food & presentation was very nice ...but portions small even on the main meal one. I know Japanese is often small but we were left hungry. The service was really bad...4 service staff at the quiet bar at 5.20pm but we could not get anyone to serve us a drink. In the restaurant we again could not get anyone to get us a bottle of wine. There was a young guy & young girl - BOTH trainees - training each other ? go figure ! The 2013 Chardonnay ended up being a 2017 bottle with no discount. Poor.
We are fortunate to live in the area and so visit Sokyo for dinner when special occasions arise. We have never been disappointed. We always leave it with the serving staff and chef to choose what we should order. The menu is extensive as is the wine list. The staff are knowledgeable and the service is attentive but subtle at the same time. We had 6 dishes for 4 people The restaurant is fully accessible for those like me who are confined to an electric wheelchair. Can't wait to go back again soon
Amazing. Been there around 6 times and have been blown away every single time. Quality of food and the service is second to none.
Delicious food (recommend the tempura, snapper sashimi, miso vegemite lamb and crayfish nigiri). Shame about the short sitting (just one hour from when we ordered our food to when we had to leave, 1.5 hours in total)
My husband and I had an amazing dinner with Sokyo. Service, food and ambience are fantastic. They have a very good range of sake! Love it a lot and will return to dine again. Queensland (spanner crab) Sushi Roll and Sashimi Platter are “must have” dishes
Food and service excellent!! Staff attentive and work round the clock. To rate? Must be 12 out of 10!!It's that good!!!
Good ambiance, very nice dessert, fresh produce however some dishes like the tempura prawns could be improved. Needed to ask for wasabi which was a surprise and waiters could have better knowledge of the dishes.
Food was amazing especially the wagyu but it was quite hard to grab the attention of the waiters and waitresses
Great food and service. Was rushed to leave though as another table had booked ours? We were a large group and take longer to complete our meals so didn’t like that we were rushed off.
My Wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Sokyo. the bar staff were very attentive and the Tokyo Sour and the Arishiyama cocktails were absolutely spot on.
We thoroughly enjoyed the feed as well especially the Duck breast, the Waygu beef and King Fish Civeche
The service through out the dinner was exceptional
will definitely recommend for others and will be coming over again
It is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Sydney. The food was amazing.
The service could be a bit better, but nothing critical.
The food was fantastic, every dish... and we had lots being a group of 6....was delicious! The service not to be faulted... definitely coming back!
The food as better than I expected. The service as also good. Overall, an enjoyable night.
Food was beautiful, unfortunately the service was pretty poor. Had to continually ask where drinks were, and waiters took plates away before we finished (and without even asking)!
Poor service and clientele. Great food in a terrible location - should move out of the casino and get some better wait staff.
It lives up to its reputation and didn’t disappoint. The sashimi platter was amazing a d the tooth fish superlative
Brilliant produce, friendly, attentive professional service by wait staff Mr Juan and Ms Mariel. Salmon was spectacular, pork skewers outstanding!
Really sleek and interesting decor.
Great food, great service. We were late for 30min but they still let us in! :)
Sokyo comes with high reviews and we found that generally it was very good . However the rice under the fish in the sushi was too loose and fell apart. The other dishes we ordered were excellent The menu was more a grazing tapas type menu than a full restaurant menu so in that we were a bit disappointed.
Beautiful as always
