Visited Social at Verandah on 12 June. What a surprise! A very welcoming front of house manager. Didn't particularly like our table and my lunch guest asked to be moved. No problems - we were moved to a very nice booth. The service was friendly and informative. The food was good - very well presented and quite generous. I would definitely return to Social at Verandah. The staff really give this restaurant an extra applause. (A rare thing in Sydney where service is mostly lack lustre).
Pleasant service but sporadic rather than consistent. Waited a long time for first drinks. Food was good but not great and menu less extensive than the restaurant prior to the recent refurbishment. Several annoying errors on the final bill including drinks at a higher price than listed on the menu.
We both had the smoked lamb cutlets. They were delicious. We were treated to a complimentary beer to celebrate the hosts 1 year anniversary. A very nice touch. Thoroughly enjoyable as always.
Social at Verandah is one of our favourite restaurants for that special weekday lunch. Katie and her team are fabulous, always friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic and the menu changes every so often, so you don't get bored. Highly recommend.
Wonderful all round - great buisness lunch option - service was quick and efficient and felt very polished and professional but not uptight. Had a very enjoyable lunch there in a gorgeous setting.
What is not clear is that there are 2 restaurants - the Social and the Verandah. One is more a pub (limited pub menu, not what’s online) and the other is the full online menu but you order from the bar and pick up your own food when it’s ready - so don’t order appys with your dinner because it all comes together. This type of service seems common in Australia but there was nothing to indicate the two different restaurants (we unintentionally booked into the pub) or the type of service. We were not interested in pub food and had we known it was a “serve yourself” restaurant we would not have chosen this place. Overall food was good, staff were pleasant (especially on the “social” side) but this was not the dining experience we were looking for, so a little heads-up might make sense.
I enjoyed my experience at Social at Verandah although the food recommended to me was not particularly to my taste. My companion loved the same food. The staff were really outstanding - friendly and competent.
We dined at Social on a Friday evening and the experience was more like eating in a noisy pub. The menu had a lot of option and the food was delicious. It's hard to comment on service as the night we were there you ordered at the bar and it did feel more like bar than a restaurant which meant noise levels were high. In fairness the restaurant did try to contact me earlier in the day to explain how they operate on a Friday night and had we known we probably would have booked elsewhere. That said we would dine at Social at Verandah again just maybe for lunch or a different night as the food was very good.
Always good. As regulars we are looked after very well.
I have been going to this restaurant for a number of years. It never disappoints. The food is always excellent and Katie, the manageress, and her team are fantastic. They are friendly and always provide first class service. It has a very extensive wine list. It is an excellent restaurant in all respects and I highly recommend it.
I go regularly. I have the fish and chips. Tops! I took a client. We had a good meal.
This is one of my regular haunts for a Good Friday lunch. I will keep going back.
Katie and her Crew are just the best = hadn't been since the changes, but definitely going to be one of my favourite haunts in 2019
Great place for a relaxed lunch. Great if you don’t have to rush back to work. Service is always outstanding and very friendly. Food is always excellent.
First time there since refurbished by new owners and they have done a great job
Great food and service. Cannot speak highly enough about the overall experience.
The service was just phenomenal, best I've experienced in a long time. To top it all off, the food and wine was delicious as well! I'll definitely be back.
I’m visiting Sydney for 2 weeks and booked a table for Christmas dinner. My reservation was confirmed, only to find out they’re closed when my family got there. Ended up having Mcdonald’s.
We have a regular Friday lunch. It is always good. They look after us well
Personable attentive service
We are regulars here. They look after us well. Good food and good wine. Nice outdoor area.
The food and service at this restaurant are always of a very high standard. The manageress, Katie is very friendly and professional and has a great team working with her.
A regular lunch time place. Had the fish and chips and cheese board. All very good. Lovely table in the spring sun.
We go here regularly. Steak always excellent. Good cheese board and red wine
Beautiful food and great wine. The venue is lovely and the staff attentive and knowledgeable
My only issue was when the waiter made a comment about how someone left truffle (and a bit of carbonara) on their plate and said "That's like $10". That was a bit annoying.
Amazing decor and great service. A great place to get away from the city without actually leaving the city. Cocktails to die for!
I love the place, the amazing food, the sweet service, love them all. Highly recommend it. I promised i will write the first comment, so here it is Lol. ps. The entrees zucchini was so good
