Snapper Rocks - Darwin
Thanks Carlos and team for making our night enjoyable. Food was amazing ( eyes bigger than belly though!) and will definitely come back.
We had a tasting plate & extra oysters prepared three ways. The food was innovative, presented nicely & a delight on the palate. The service was quick, friendly & very attentive. A lovely place to catch up with friends over good food & drinks.
If it had not been for the wonderful waitress Monica (a French lady) the evening would have been more disappointing. We liked the quiet and the fact there was no loud music to compete with when conversing with each other. The candles on the desserts (we were there celebrating 2 birthdays) was a nice touch and appreciated, but the disappointment regarding the food would make us reluctant to go there again.
Value for money: the grazing board had a good selection but we felt it was overpriced, would happily pay $40.00 for 4 to share, but $58.00?
Mains: the steaks we ordered were not cookes as requested, the medium rare was almost blue and cold, the medium was closer to medium rare and warm. The meat was beautiful but would have been better if cooked as ordered and hot. The fish were hot and tasty. There were no veges or salad served with the mains and they were also pricey.
Desserts: we all enjoyed the desserts.
Amazing food and great location. Service was good but different staff kept coming to the table, one dedicated staff member to save confusion would work better.
Amazing food, beverages and good vibes! Will be back!
everything was great except for the seafood board.. absolute rip off. Do not recommend this item.
Thank you for a very nice afternoon, good food and service.
This is not a quiet place to take your partner for a romantic dinner however the food is amazing and the service is good even on a busy night.
Lovely vegan food and wine and a great atmosphere. Would definitely go again
Had dinner here ordered whole snapper and tasting board , food was average for the price, snapper was dry , however great spot and good ambience just need attention to detail with food especially if they are charging top $
I liked my sweet potato dish but my friend said her chicken had no taste (she is a chef by trade). She did like her gin cocktail but my mojito was warm instead of chilled. Maybe the glass had recently come out of the dishwasher and wasn’t cold originally. I thought our waiter was good - he was both polite and friendly. He was also happy to answer questions about the menu.
Chose to dine for lunch with a girlfriend to try this restaurant for the first time, we had booked online. We were greeted, seated (outside on terrace) and menus and water provided quickly by a pleasant waitress. I ordered the Reef fish focaccia with slaw and chips and my friend chose the crocodile bao. The meals arrived swiftly as did our glasses of wine; both meals were generous in size. Both my battered fish and homemade chips were surprisingly very dark in colour rather than golden but looked nice and crispy. However, the chips and the batter on the fish strangely very quickly went soggy when not piping hot but the fish itself was enjoyable. The focaccia was nicely toasted but the slaw was slathered in a thick mayo dressing which made it gluggy rather than refreshing. I ate very little of the meal. My friend enjoyed her dish and the salad/dressing particularly until she found a big thick puddle of similar dressing to that on my slaw underneath one of the baos which she found unpleasant and scraped off. The add a glass of wine with the meal for $5 deal was appreciated. The fish was $20 and the bao $16 so average pricing. The outlook is enjoyable overlooking the lawns and wave pool and yellow/white candy striped sun umbrellas. There is ample car parking adjacent. So, overall not impressed with my first visit as far as the food is concerned (which is why one goes to a restaurant) but given the good service, location and price, I will try here again but I may not rush back.
Generous serves. Barra beautiful. Japanese garnish overbearing and more to do with covering the plate than adding to dish. Green salad great.
We were excited to come here for a seafood meal since it opened and were extremely disappointed when we finally got to go there!
There was nothing on the menu that caught our eye that we really wanted to try like there always is at restaurants. We chose the very expensive platter for 2 as a starter but our 3 y/o son had my share of it because his kids serve of Barra and chips was disgustingly small (barra was literally 2 pieces that was half pen length and as wide as my little finger!), kids eat more these days so parents are forced to pay for an adult meal for them as businesses are getting stingier.
I had bread and olives off the platter for dinner and refused to pay exorbitant prices for main meals that did not sound inviting at all and were right up there with the price! There was also nothing for starters for kids either (writing this makes me feel that they don’t really want families with kids to visit!)
Most meals were shared plates so bad luck if you wanted something different to your partner!
We went home hungry and very disappointed so won’t be going back in a hurry....if ever
Service was excellent although they don't stock light beer. We only had the prawn small share and the crocodile small share both are entree meals but were enough for a light meal. Icream and chocolate was enjoyable and pineapple dessert was too. Not sure what they did to the chips but need to be improved.
Great atmosphere and caring staff. Food was great too
Both the barra and snapper were great with interesting accompaniments. Both the steak eaters agreed that, for the price, there should have been more on the plate with the rib eye. Desserts were well received especially the matcha dish. The double expresso coffee was a let down given the overall high standard of the food. Staff were pleasant, helpful, and friendly.
Lovely food, service and a great location with a lovely vibe. Childrens menu a little fancy for my child but we found something on the full menu he enjoyed.
interesting menu with kids options, great decor, nice cockltails. glad we tried it
Superb, lamb was divine. Very busy because of mother’s day but the service was outstanding
It was nice but extremely busy, there wasn’t enough staff and the food took forever to come out. There was a table next to us and the poor lady never got her door because they forgot about her order. However the food was really nice and I think they where just caught off with how busy it was so I think if it wasn’t so busy the day would have been a lot nicer. I would still recommend as a place to eat.
Food was great when it came although very busy for Mothers Day so understand a little wait time. One meal (kids) was forgotten completely even after we reminded them 3 times. It came eventually once we had finished our desserts.
Spent Mother’s Day here and it was fabulous, bubbles and share platters - everything was delicious. Will definitely be back again!
Service and food was outstanding. Love trying new restaurants and this one did not let us down. Food and drink menu variety was excellent, catering for all tastes, including gluten free and vegetarian. Seafood was fresh, steak was cooked to order - all served with fresh, zingy side salads (and other sides if required). Share plates are a great idea, and it meant we all got to taste different things, but it was cost effective as well. Definitely going back!
Food was good. Slow with.drinks. waiting staff seemed overwhelmed. Either not enough staff or fairly novice staff. 5 star prices on what overall was not a 5 star experience.
Excellent food. The G&T’s are amazing! Will be back for sure.
best meal in Darwin for a very long time - it was a very pleasant lunch - even with children!
We had booked a table for six people so I think the welcome could have been a bit warmer. The food was good, but I think the ceviche would have been better bought out first, rather than last and we needed to ask for it. The waiter was doing a good job on a very busy day so we all thought it was bad form when the manager, we think, criticised her openly in front of diners. Bad form from him. On a busy day it may have been better to employ extra staff. While all negatives are minor they were noticeable.
Disappointing evening. The highlight was our waiter Anthony. Very positive and informative! However, the drinks were so slow to come and replacements for empty glasses not offered. The top half of our whole fish was good, but the bottom kept cooking, so when we turned the fish over, it was just mush. A waitress tried to take away the plates we were still eating! Overall, a very average meal. You can’t get away with charging 5 star prices for a 2 star experience.
Room for improvement when regarding the food but overall good and we left happy.
The Asian slaw dressing wasn’t good or balanced.
Our chips were bad, like the bottom of the barrel
The fish croquettes were really disappointing. It’s a simple dish and they can be excellent but I don’t like the recipe used for them a snapper rocks.
We also ordered the prawns.
The flavours were a little underwhelming so far and I think to get the customers coming back you need to hook them in with food they can’t resist.
Great service, delicious food, outstanding cocktails and superb service by the manager. We will be back given Darwin has been waiting for such a place for far too long.
Great new venue, the staff were so friendly, confident and fun! Great menu and absolutely beautiful establishment. Just what Darwin needs.
A great new addition to Darwin Waterfront, good menu options- something different!
I cannot fault Snapper Rocks especially as they have just opened. Service and food was on point.
The food was incredible and even the kids meals have been really though out!
