Service was extremely slow. We had to wait at least 30 minutes for our starters, two of which were served cold and had to be returned to the kitchen. The food was ok. Some of the meet was dry, the coleslaw was not good. The serving platter had too much food on them, so we had to take doggy bags. I would rather have less food and more sophisticated serving. The house wine was good and reasonable. Why do you include VAT on the bill? I have never seen that before.

Don't bother ! We went for the Sunday lunch with high expectations. We are local and this place has a good reputation. No roast beef, no bloody Marys, rock hard cold yorkshires which must have been made a long time beforehand, soggy and fatty roast potatoes. One of the worst roast dinners I have had, the best part being the carrot and spring greens. Will not be going back, there are plenty of better places nearby,

Initially we were very disappointed to be told the lunch menu was not available due it being half term despite a half term post advertising their lunch menu on their Facebook page. On my 3rd attempt, the manager gave us the lunch menu albeit limited availability. Food was fine but not what I would have ordered if the full lunch menu was available as advertised. I’m not sure why smoke and co wish to alienate school/college/university staff and only offer their lunch menu during term time weekdays??

Everything was spot on. The food was incredible, the service was friendly and fast, without being rushed and it was just right for the occasion we were celebrating (staff wished my wife happy birthday as soon as we arrived). I would recommend Smoke and Co to everyone who loves their meat!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 – Smoke & Co, Margate We visited Smoke & Co with high expectations after seeing countless Instagram reviews praising the food, especially the melt-in-your-mouth brisket. For starters, we had pork ends, prawns, beef ends and hummus. They were good overall, although nothing was served piping hot. For our mains, we ordered the platter for four, with sweet potato, corn on the cob and other sides. The biggest disappointment was the brisket, which I was most excited to try. Unfortunately, it was hard and rubbery rather than soft and tender as advertised. The ribs were okay, but nowhere near the fall-off-the-bone standard shown in the Instagram reviews. The other meats were decent, but nothing exceptional. The broccoli was also extremely undercooked, practically raw. Overall, the food wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t live up to the hype or the expectations set by social media. Perhaps we caught them on an off day, but based on our experience, I wouldn’t give it five stars. Would I return? Maybe, but I’m undecided. I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, it just wasn’t what we expected.

The food tasted very nice, but really was like warm. For the price, to be served like warm food was disappointing. Music was cranked up to a level where it was difficult to talk to other people on the table. Waitress was charming but seemed rather vague when requests were made - I.e. for plates to eat the platter from.

We arrived on time, around 5–10 minutes early, as suggested by the booking system. However, our table was not ready, so we were left standing just inside the front entrance in the bad weather. When we were eventually seated, there was not enough space for seven people, and the seating arrangements were very cramped and uncomfortable. We were also not informed that the kitchen would close at 10 pm, nor was this mentioned on the booking system. We were seated at around 9 pm, leaving us very little time to enjoy our meal. When we asked about dessert at 10:03 pm, we were told that the kitchen was closed. The waiter went to check whether any food was still available, but instead of returning with an update or explaining the situation, they simply brought us the bill without any explanation or asking whether we would like another drink instead. Throughout the evening, there was very little attention to customer service. Nobody checked in with us to see whether everything was satisfactory or whether we needed anything else. We felt that there was little effort to ensure we were comfortable or enjoying our experience. As for the food, it was average overall, although there were some highlights. The pulled meats, brisket and chicken were really good. Unfortunately, the ribs were hard and dry, and the macaroni cheese had been overcooked on top, leaving the pasta with a dry, burnt crust that affected the dish. Overall, the lack of communication, cramped seating, inconsistent food quality and poor attention to customer service significantly affected our experience. This was a birthday meal for a group of seven, and we had made arrangements in advance, so we expected a much better experience. While there were some positives with the food, the issues with the seating, lack of information about the kitchen closing time and the way the evening was handled left us disappointed. With better planning, communication and customer service, the experience could have been better.

Food was mediocre at best. Had the platter, lots of variety of food visually, but overall bland and under seasoned. Did not enjoy the Mac &cheese at all. Sauces - one was great, other one was what I imagine a toilet cleaner would taste of. Lots of room for improvement, though doubt I will ever return.

A platter for 4 among 4 of us and we still had left over. Food was really good. My only niggle was the ambience was a bit flat. It didn’t feel like a very special place to go for an occasion (my husband’s birthday) for the price you pay for the food. Perhaps others experience will be different and might just have been dampened by a slightly miserable day outside so hardly anyone else was there. The location though was very easy to get to with public parking close by. I’d have given it 5 stars if the ambiance/interior was nicer. Maybe we’ll have better luck next time. At least everything else was almost a 5. So good effort.
