Ask for David and you won’t be disappointed! His service was incredible, from the top notch recommendations for wine and food, to his funny personally. Such a wonderful experience. We will be back soon!
The appetizers were outstanding and the drinks were excellent. The rice in the seafood paella was a little gummy.
The food was delicious and the waiters were very nice but the ambiance was definitely lacking. The inside was too bright and the patio needed some help. I’m sure they had to remove some tables due to Covid, which is understandable, but the patio felt very empty even though most of the tables were full. Maybe some plants would help fill the empty space? Also, our table was a little dark. I think a candle on each table would definitely make this feel cozier and would be more inviting. Lastly, the thing that bothered us the most was that we spent nearly $150 and arrived at a reasonable 7:30 but they started packing up the chairs while we and another table were still sitting there finishing our wine at 9:15. They even turned the lights out to let us know it was time to leave. I should mention that the paella takes about 30 minutes to cook so It would seem that they would expect their guests to stay a while. I think this place could be great if they would work on the ambiance and overall experience. Don’t serve tapas and timely dishes if you want to kick out your guests and lock the doors at 9:30 pm.
The place is small and there’s so much construction happening near the area we weren’t sure where to park. Our server David was friendly and gave great recommendations. My boyfriends parents were especially happy about the wine! Das the zucchini cups were all gone but the piquito peppers were delicious, as was the paella’s. Meat was a little dry but overall, it was a great spot. Menu is small, excited to see what else they offer!
Pandemic isolation was too much for us. We saw Sketches of Spain on OT and decided to try it. What a great experience! We were able to enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine while enjoying a perfect evening on the patio. We will definitely return to taste other menu items.
Amazing place! Great food and service, we will be back and recommend this place!
The restaurant is cute and the patio was nice. The paella was really the only good entree. We had the fish of the day (cod) and it was not good at all. Very chewy. The lamb was bland. Ordered the potatoes for my two year old to eat after the waiter said they were not spicy but it was actually spicy. The prawns were just whatever. I would suggest a bottle of wine rather than the sangria.
First time dining and enjoyed the food! A little pricey, but good. Had made reservations and they gave our table away, but we were able to be seated after not too long of a wait.
Another great add to the Bishop Arts experience. Excellent Spanish cuisine and wine list. A little overpriced but the outdoor patio and overall ambience was worth it. It was funny to have a Spanish restaurant playing all types of Latin music. Stick to your roots!! 😏
It was a great experience to enjoy a great paella in Bishop Arts District area. Even when lunch menu seems to be different that dinner, it had great options. Thank you!
Food was excellent. Service was good although we were brought something we didn’t order as an appetizer. We decided to eat it anyway, so we also paid for it without drawing attention to the matter since, in the grand scheme of things, it was a minor error and these things do happen from time to time. This was a birthday dinner for my wife, which was noted on the reservation and the greeter did make the proper acknowledgement of that when we arrived. I’m provably too naive but I had hoped for at least a little something on the restaurant’s part to mark the occasion, like maybe a small glass of wine or maybe a couple of candles on the table. Still, the experience was far from unpleasant and the meal was excellently prepared. We would definitely consider going back.
As an aside, we were completely unfamiliar with the part of the Dallas area wherein the restaurant is located and had no idea of the extreme difficulty we would have in finding a lace to park. There is some construction in the immediate area which did exacerbate the matter. Consider leaving well in advance of your reservation time just to be safe. Our experience was on a Friday night but Covid didn’t diminish the number of people who ventured out as many of the nearby restaurants and bars seemed pretty full and most of them compete for the same limited parking in the area.
Good Spanish tapas and excellent wine. Paella was just okay - meat and veggies overcooked and dried out. Would return and taste another main course.
Feeling like in Spain! Cozy ambiance, big tapas and buenisimas torrijas! I need to return to try paella and more!!
Great food, great service and great atmosphere! The food was well priced and all very delicious. You can tell that they've put a lot of thought into their menu.
Good ambiance, as house as been remodeled nicely as half restaurant seating and half bar with wall and a hall in between. Relaxing atmosphere. I had a delicious dish with rabbit and chicken over seasoned Spanish rice served in a skillet. I could not really tell the difference in the two meats. My wife had an eggplant dish served cold that she said was just “okay”. We knew it might be hit or miss on that though.
The shrimp appetizers were soaked in a delicious authentic sauce and served whole and steaming hot. The servers were from Spain and knew everything about every dish. Also the water was served “cool” in good Chrystal glasses with no ice. Love it that way. Scenic view over Zang as we sat on the heated patio. Good bang for buck too as prices seem in tune with Bishop Arts.?Will definitely go back.
Fantastic food and service...valet parking across the street for $7. Give them a try...we'll be back for sure.
Small plates (tomatoes, eggplant, potatoes) and seafood paella were outstanding.
Really lovely evening and delicious food. Great hospitality
I am actually from Spain, Hands down this is the best and most authentic spanish restaurant in Dallas. The chef is from the Basque Country in Spain, the owner from Spain and the manager from Galicia, Spain. Great service, very comfortable outdoor space with great heaters!! And the beat is the price is really good for the quality, much better than other restaurants in town that are overpriced. A must!!
Love this place! The octopus is a must for an appetizer, it never disappoints. The black paella is so unique and delicious. Can’t go wrong with any of the paellas on the menu.
Beautiful restaurant, fabulous food & service. Love the outdoor seating
