Our produce is sustainable, seasonal and organic whenever possible and sourced from local farmers, so our dishes vary every night.
Shu sets each evening’s menu so that it is perfectly balanced in its range of dishes and flavours. We will introduce you to traditional favourites alongside Shu’s more inventive dishes.

Inspired by the vibrant Sichuan cuisine of SouthWest China, Shu presents a vegan set menu in 10 different flavours. This 10 course vegan degustation has been running out of the kitchen window since 2014 and continue interpreting the traditional Sichuan flavours into a modern palate with fresh, local and seasonal produce. Loved it. only thing is it took over 2.5hrs for our 10 course degustation. Just the breaks inbetween didn't need to be as long. But it was delicious and well worth it!
The $25 experimental set meal was such good value for money. It was also just different and fun. I highly recommend. The staff are also lovely.
Vegan degustation was out of this world, each bite was so full of flavor. Wine pairings were perfect. So much value at such a great price point. Will definitely come again
Loved this place, came for the all you can eat dumplings. Super quirky, funky place, good vibes and lots of great food, loved the little vegan side dishes that came with the dumplings aswell, got soooo much for the price, we wouldn’t of gotten half of that for 28 dollars anywhere else so I’d highly recommend and I’d definitely come back

This place gives off funky vibes, never seen a place like it! The 10 course vegan degustation was perfectly timed and we left feeling satisfied. The avocado cheesecake was definitely a winner for me! Will be back for sure! :)

5 course vegan banquet was delicious! staff were well informed and friendly. funky decor with clear plastic chairs - cool! ordered a side of crispy fried chicken for the non vegans - also very yummy

Absolutely loved it, had every dish explained to us and the wine pairings matched perfectly, the three hours we spent there flew by. As people without a lot of desposable income who rarely dine out, this was absolutely worth the money for the service and experience (and the food was amazing! We were stuffed by the end)
Great service and food was beautifully presented. Shu himself was a great host and made us feel very comfortable. Vegan degustation was delicious, favourite was the watermelon tatare and silken tofu.
A very well constructed degustation menu. Each course was different in its own way, but still worked well together. The knowledge that there is a degustation menu that is entirely vegan AND delicious is amazing.
Service was also amazing, very attentive and the layed back vibe of the restaurant was very welcoming.
Lovely spot - the fit out is really nice and not what we were expecting. The vegan degustation was incredible (even for a carnivore!) and so filling. Really fresh, beautifully presented food. I'd love to see the restaurant become busier to help the vibe as it should be pumping! Keep up the great work.
It was a shame that my table was by a door and the tape didn’t cover all the gaps. The breeze coming from the bottom gap kept me cold

My partner and I came here for our second anniversary and we both ordered the 10 course vegan degustation. I had read reviews about how small the portions were and I was a bit weary however I was pleasantly surprised. Each course was delicious and well put together. The noodle and pan fried tofu dishes were my two stand outs for the night.
Shu takes Chinese Cuisine to a new level. Bringing family recipes and creating special dishes that bring everyone at the table together. And Shu can offer this in Vegan too! #goShu Shu made our Mother's Day luncheon super special for our Mums.
Choice of either Vegan Degustation or Seafood/Meat Degustation. We have dined many times before here but it was my choice for a special birthday. We chose the Vegan Degustation but Shu without hesitation kindly accommodated us by a special request for additional meat/seafood dishes for sharing amongst guests who wanted this. The food is intricate, delicious, distinctively special. Great selection from small cocktail and wine list, well balanced. The restaurant space needs to be seen to be believed. A very special place that needs to be experienced, words cannot describe it. Shu is a wonderful host.

The food at Shu was absolutely beautiful - one of the best meals I've ever had! With every bite my friends and I were shocked vegan food could be so delicious! Cannot recommend Shu highly enough.
The restaurant has lovely, friendly staff, and it has a terrific atmosphere, very nice food. Maybe not the wine though with the Vegan meal, my daughter was very unwell mixing white, red and Rosè wines.
Fantastic music, the bathroom with its colour changing lights were very cool indeed.
For a little restaurant it has a big presence with very bold flavours in the food.

The overall experience was good but felt like there were still some teething issues being worked out. A lot of positives, always with a 'but'.
Each dish was tasty and creative, but cold. Even the ones you felt should be hot, like the spring roll and fried tofu. There were large delays between servings. We arrived at seven and it was after ten by the time the last dish arrived. This can be normal for a degustation, but the waits here felt a little too long. The music was a little too loud and the temperature a little too cold for comfortable conversation.
Shu's decor is quirky and unique. A feast for the eyes but like the food it felt cold... the cool autumn night amplified by the chilled metal dining table.
It was a fun dining experience with a lot going for it. A good night with some good food and excellent company... but didn't quite hit the mark for me.

We had the pleasure of coming on Easter Saturday , with my husband and daughter , for the 5course degustation menu . The location was great in the trendy suburb of Collingwood . The decor is quirky but lovely.
My husband is a vegan and it was amazing to find a restaurant that understands and knows how to cook and present tasty vegan food in a very sophisticated way.
Value for money and service was very personable and efficient .
Highly recommend this little jewel of a restaurant.
