We are embedded in the centuries old Sichuan palate, but we present its incredible spices, heat, textures and flavor complexity so that it is accessible and exciting for today’s diners.

Our produce is sustainable, seasonal and organic whenever possible and sourced from local farmers, so our dishes vary every night.

We loved the food, the atmosphere and the waiters SO much that we didn’t want to mark anything down, but the only thing we didn’t like was how much time between each of the courses there was. We got the 5 course and it took long enough that we were hungry again between courses! But the food was really, really excellent. Some of the most creative and unusual vegan food I’ve ever had.

The wait time between each meal was ridiculously long. The food however was delicious but the lighting could have been dimmer and the waiter could've been more attending and louder when educating us about each meal.

My husband & I loved our dinner...The 10 course vegan degustation was an adventure in taste & inventive plant based food. The service & atmosphere was excellent & it was nice to have a quick chat with Shu the owner & chef at the end of our meal... Would definitely highly recommend & do it again! 5+ stars ⭐️

The food is truly terrible - basically al dente vegetables with paprika in various forms. It must cost pennies to produce, so although the price seems cheap for a 10-course degustation, you get what you pay for. Pretty sure other parts of the meal were cooked from frozen.

The amuse bouche is a supermarket rice cracker with a block of tofu, dessert is a frozen block with some coconut yoghurt on it. There were some decent tastes and textures in the ‘mains’ - but these could also have been cooked from a packet.

There is a really strong sewage smell on the way to the loo.

Service was nice.

Apart from that, this place is truly a scam.

Vegan degustation was small and overpriced. Balance of flavours in some dishes were adequate and others were poor. A couple of the 'hot' dishes came cold and one of our mains was extremely salty (and i loveeee salt). My partner isnt vegan but I am and we were both very hungry after, so much so that we went and ate at another restaurant straight after. After spending $150 on two degustations and a glass of very acidic wine we were not overly happy. The service on the other hand was great, our waitress Ali was very attentive.

This place is a bit hit and miss - definitely not a Sichuan restaurant but some of the vegan options are very creative and delicious, especially the raw platter that is served at the start of the set menu. After that, it kinda goes a bit downhill with random flavours that don't really complement each other or follow any kind of theme. Decor is very kitch and a bit overdone. But, good to see some vegan restaurants surfacing.

We went for the vegan experimental 5 course menu and it was pretty ordinary:
Dish 1) The iceberg lettuce salad was warm, making the crisp leaf become limp, but the dressing was ok.
Dish 2) Waffle cone with smoked tofu, avocado and banana. The tofu was nice but the dish was trying too hard, the chef attempting to mix savory and sweet but it was weird mush.
Dish 3) Potato pancake with mushroom. This was quite nice, the dressing on the top was nice and flavours were good.
Dish 4) Spinach jelly. No... no... bland, slimy mixture to bind it all together in the bowl, could be easily improved if they tried it first.
Dish 5) Desert. Nothing amazing but given the varity of underwhelm I was happy to be done.
There were plenty of people in the restaurant so i'd assume this place does better than my experience.

The staff were nice, the restaurant is eclectic which fits. I won't go back but I had to go first to know that I won't.

excellent customer sevice. food very tasty, on the spicey side however this is sichuan cuisine so to be expected. matched wines at $85 on top of set menu cost seems very expensive so did not take this option.

Service was impeccable but they seated us in the back section that was cold as heater was a big space and only the four of us (much busier in other section), to be fair the waiter did offer me a blanket. But this was not the dining experience I was after. They finally at dessert time moved us when a sewerage problem caused a waft to linger.

So ambience sadly took away from interesting food and good service.

The 10 course menu was misleading as the first 6 “courses” came out in two settings, the food looked beautiful but lacked flavour and at one point the waitress bought over a non vegetarian dish and had to rush back to take it before we ate it.

I had seen the social media for Shu for a long time and was very disappointed with my visit.

Vegan degustation was delicious. My only recommendation is maybe not have every dish be so spicy. The atmosphere was great and staff were very attentive. I would definitely recommend.

Wonderful experience. The waitress was available, yet gave us privacy. Plus she was welcoming and well informed on the menu.
We found the chains hanging from the ceiling a little confusing and out of place, however the remaining decor was pleasant.
The real winner here was the food.
10/10 for presentation.
A great night! Will return!

Shu is by far my favourite restaurant for vegan food! The flavours are unbelievably good, and the service is amazing. Spoiler alert: the decor and atmosphere is also 10/10. Been many times, and will go many more times!

I booked and thought the vegan taster was unavailable and was pleasantly surprised to find out it available Wednesday night at well five courses for $25 is a fantastic value. it is a rolling menu that changes each week and the quality of the food is exceptional. Will be recommending to my vegan friends as a venue to check out unique dishes for very reasonable prices.
