The food was delicious. Our chef Kevin was hilarious and wonderful. We had a great time.
Always a solid meal
Made reservations for my sons birthday. He loved it. Great food and entertainment, the chef was very kind and engaging to the entire table.
Great food cooked by our chef Antonio!
Great place great date night on vday!
It was great, food and service. Did a nice job with Valentine Day crowd
Hibachi chef was great and entertaining. The wait staff was very attentive.
The food was amazing but we felt rushed to finish and leave so the next group could come in. It was my son's birthday and we had to wait 10-15 minutes after dinner for them to bring out the birthday desert. Then we felt like they wanted us to take it and eat in the car. Lol!
The atmosphere was fun, but the restaurant is run down and really needs an update. The food has too much oil and butter for my taste.
Food lovely but very rushed we were out 40 minutes after sitting down.
Waiter took forever to get drinks and then hot tea was not. Slow taking orders. Hibachi chef was excellent! Great personality, funny with kids and food was delicious.
Ordered appetizers - they came out after the hibachi food/show was done and had eaten main meal already. Fried rice had no flavor. Had to ask for sweetener for tea three times. No refills of drinks. This was our third time this year. Will not be back.
Love coming here! They always have amazing food and amazing service. This place will forever be my birthday spot!!
I placed a reservation on open table and restaurant did not have it. But they were very accomodating and got us in without a wait.
Very pricey but the food is always good. No alcohol or soda and it still cost me $50 for just me.
Antonio, our hibachi chef, was the best we've ever had anywhere - he was ten kinds of fantastic! The food he prepared was good and he nailed the cook of the steak! Unfortunately, he prepares his cuisine in a restaurant that feels more like an old buffet room with sticky carpeted flooring, bad lighting, and uncomfortable chairs. We'd hate to have people not go there for Antonio's sake, he really is a master hibachi chef! So if you overlook the bad ambiance, ask for Antonio; you'll not be disappointed!
Highly enjoyed the experience. The sushi and sashimi was on point and I will definitely be back.
We were seated at the Hibachi table... dinner was good. Chef was engaging and funny!
Wonderful place to celebrate a birthday
Service was ok, food was good, but the place in itself.. we expected more. The carpet/floor was sticky (I guess greasy) and the place is all painted in black, with no natural light, and it was less 'classy' that I would have liked it to be.. for the location (Southlake Br) we expected something different.
Price wise, all dishes are in the 22-28 dollar range, so it is by no means a 'cheap' place. We only had lemonade/iced team, no alcohol, and we paid $45 per person~
Kevin was amazing and interacted with our kids through the whole meal. Great family experience all around
We took a party of 8 to Shogun for my bday dinner. The only thing that happened was that we had a reservation for 7:15 and didn't get seated til 7:35. Otherwise, the service was really good and the food was excellent too. Would recommend going again.
Kevin our chef was GREAT! The only reason for not giving all 5 stars is because we asked to set directly across from the chef at the hibatichi table but the hostess said “we have to leave room for other people coming in”, it was a Monday night, not busy at all and they didn’t even seat anyone else in the whole place until 30 minutes after we arrived, a big group who obviously had a table reset for just their party. Hostess needs training on customer service.
The food surprised me, I usually don't like shrimp but it was cooked to perfection. I loved the sushi, the chicken, the rice, even the salad. Everything impressed me and I immediately found favorite dining experience. The entertainment was fun too
I love hibachi restaurants, but for the most part, they are a dime a dozen. The food was good, the presentation (show) was subpar--our cook was not very charismatic, but my biggest issue was with the cleanliness of the restaurant. Everything was sticky. The tile floors of the bar area, where we waited for our table, were incredibly sticky and it remained on our shoes until we came home and cleaned them with hot, soapy water. The tables, blinds, carpet, everything was sticky. I'm sure it's unique challenge for a hibachi restaurant, with the cooking happening at the tables, but I was grossed out.
Great Hibachi restaurant. Chefs are great with the “show” (tricks, spatulas, conversation). Many options on the mixing of streak, chicken, seafood, veggies.
We did have a problem with Open Table reservation was not known by the check in person, but we got seated in 10 minutes on a busy Saturday night.
Food was not good at all. Service was very good. Chef was good.
The food was very good (especially the fried rice) and Kevin did an excellent job cooking and entertaining.
Very pleasant experience. Filet was great. Avocado bombers were the best
Kids had a great time... the show is the main attraction here. Food was decent at best.
Just was not very impressed. First time to visit Shogun Higachi. While it is appears to be patterned after Benihana it does not compare. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was served closer to medium well. When you cut the steak into bite size pieces before cooking you have to pay close attention to cooking time. Unfortunately, that did not occur. The fried rice was run of the mill. Nothing extraordinary and was very limited on egg.
After waiting an hour past our reservation time we finally gave up and left. The poor hostess was forced to make drinks (ordered a dirty martini - was given an apple martini with olive juice GROSS), she had to clear tables and seat people. We were given the excuse that they were short staffed, however it seems this is the norm for this place. It was a pretty disappointing experience, especially for a birthday gathering. Definitely won't be back and most definitely would not recommend considering most of their reviews are consistent.
We had reserved a table to celebrate our sons 9th birthday. I mentioned this when booking the table. Nobody said anything about a birthday when we got there, not the waitress or the chef. For some reason we got the one chef that did not want to do anything fun even though several kids at our table. Chefs around us were doing fire, smoke coming out of the onion tower, etc and kids kept looking around as to why this is not happening in front of them? The food was fine but the whole atmosphere not what we were expecting. At the very end I mentioned to our waitress about a birthday and then 10 minutes later they bought out a dessert. Unfortunately not a great experience for us.
There was no air conditioning. It was so hot in there. Service was okay. Our cook seemed to have no interest in being there and didn’t really put on a “show”. The kids were disappointed.
Very disappointed. First time visit and won’t go back.
Our kids love the "cook on the table" experience and since we were in the area for my son's birthday, we decided to try Shogon Higachi. My daughter summed it up pretty well when she commented, "They are not very excited, are they?" The cooking performance was pretty lackluster. The space itself was rather dirty and difficult to walk around in. We went through a doorway and had to squeeze behind patrons at another table in order to get to our table. I question the design aesthetic of putting "Happy 2018" in LED lights along one entire wall.
Fun place to eat for our son's graduation and they accommodated our last minute additions to our party size.
Our cook interacted great with the kids and the food was excellent!
Great time at this place! It was not very loud which can be hard to find at a hibachi restaurant. Our chef was great and friendly. Interacted well with my party. The food was very good with large portions! My only complaint was that the room was a bit warm. Could have turned down the ac a bit. Other than that it was a great place for a group meal.
Very good hibachi. Large portions. Very friendly and responsive staff. The presentation was standard fare. Will be back.
I was disappointed that they did not have our reservation that was placed just that morning through Open Table. Then the fact that the wait staff & manager were unorganized and rushing around with no mind to letting the customers to follow them the their table. They farted off without us without asking or directing us to follow. I was SUPER disappointed in the “showmanship” or should I say lack of showmanship of the chef cooking on the hibachi grill for the five of us. The atmosphere & carpet were filthy. There should NOT be carpet in a restaurant for obvious reasons. It breeds germs, bacteria, spills make the floor (carpet) looking filthy.
Shogun Higachi is rated 4.5 stars by 40 OpenTable diners.
