From a specially-commissioned cooking line consisting of a wood oven, hydraulic grill, rotisserie and customised yakitori pit, the element of fire speaks through simply seasoned, seared meats and vegetables.
The menu covers raw to cooked, with yakitori, noodles, dumplings, bao, robata grilled and spit roasted meats.
Our bar and kitchen operates all day. From lunch, to snacks with afternoon sakes, and right into the night.
Amazing food (as always) and some of the best staff. Hard to decide what’s better.. the restaurant could be ten times the size and still there wouldn’t be an empty seat
Love the food but if you want to sit at the bar, then you need to request when booking otherwise you will be seated at a shared table on stools. This is also the same if you have a table of 4, you need to request a booth otherwise you will be seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant on small stools.
Just amazing food! Small details made it so enjoyable and the range of flavours and meals was amazing. Can't wait to return
Shobosho is not just about good food. It’s about the ambiance and the theatre of the open kitchen. If you’re a two (which we were) you’re seated at the counter looking on to the kitchen. Contrary to some other reviewers I thought these were the best seats in the house as watching the kitchen turn out the different dishes with rapidity and deftness was pure entertainment. The food was amazing too, inventive and delicate. I’m a vegetarian and I felt I had plenty of choice and what I ate was truly delicious. Excellent service topped off a great night.
Delicious food. Really different in some regard. Look forward to going again
Please get rid of the stools though!!
We had a great evening! Highly recommend it! Quality food and service
Massive flight delay from Sydney meant we were and hour late and were pretty grumpy when we arrived. We had let the restaurant know but were still surprised they still had our table earthing, greeted us by name and just made the frustrations of the journey melt away. There is good service and great service and this team is great. And the food is fantastic as well...!
Outstanding food and service. It’s a must visit when in ADELAIDE
Highly recommend! My husband and I absolutely loved the food & atmosphere and would definitely go back again.
We were there for lunch in March and it was fabulous.
It seems to have lost it’s MOJO and lost it’s way.
Service OK but food JUST.
The food was outstanding and the service attentive and friendly. Perfect for dining solo or in a group.
We did not stay because we were expected to sit on a v small wooden stool facing a boring wall
Good interesting menu. Staff knowledgeable about wine.
Great atmosphere. Amazing food. Great sitting at the bar and interacting with the chefs and wait staff.
Food was fast and fantastic. Staff were great and the place had a really good vibe. The only negative were that dishes were a little expensive given the serving sizes.
Amazing food, celebrating friends bday, compliments to the chef, looking forward to next menu
Great service, very helpful with how the menu worked, recommendations, additional drink orders, etc. Great food. Would definitely go back!
Loved the food and wine selection, but the food...AMAZING!
Really liked it. Wasn't sure if the blonde waiter was a bit annoyed by us.
Great vibe, excellent wait staff and even better food!
We were suppose to seat on stools but my wife have a bad back so they found a way for us to be on a “private” table which change everything.
Food was excellent, service professional and friendly.
We did it all : cocktails, 2xsake, 4 savouries, 2 desserts ( Japanese candy sorbet is amazing).
Close your eyes and go.
Wonderful food, fantastic floor show watching the kitchen staff! They were amazing and worked tremendously hard! Loved it and want to come back!
Top notch experience, from the food and the service through to the design and the overall feel of the space. We loved it.
Awesome food experience and wine list solid but missing in a few spots. Understand looking to support local though. Wait staff awesome as well! Overall: Busy, noisy but lots of fun if you come prepared. Don’t miss out on this one!
disappointed in the service, felt like we weren't welcome and not cool or young enough to be there.
recently dined at Lucy Lui in Melbourne which is very similar but service and food there was outstanding and a benchmark for u guys i'd say.
yr food was lovely, least fave was pork dish as very fatty but not enough acid in kimchi to cut thru.
Food was outstanding and the service was excellent. Highly recommend sitting at the bar seating to watch it all unfold. Absolute precision with their food presentation.
We had a waiter who was new and he killed it! Lovely service, he knew the menu well and gave wonderful recommendations. The food is gorgeous to look at and eat, and the atmosphere is modern and intimate.
Shobosho has been my favourite restaurant in Adelaide since it opened. Every dish is outstanding.
Great dining experience; must try if you’re visiting the city!
Appreciate the fact we were not hurried to leave
Everything was delicious. You could clearly see the time and love put into every dish. I would dine here every day if I could!
One of my top 3 restaurants in Adelaide. New dishes on menu were pointed out by staff, ordered and can highly recommend. Never had a bad experience here.
Cleanest open kitchen I've ever seen in my life!!
Will definitely dine in this place again!!!!!!!!!!
From the moment we walked into Shobosho we knew it was going to be an incredible evening. The restaurant was busting with large and intimate groups of people clearly enjoying the experience. We sat at the counter near the front door with a bird’s eye view of the bartender mixing unique concoctions of specialty cocktails. Further down we could see the kitchen with the head of the kitchen barking out the new orders coming in from the tables and the chefs answering her back in unison that they heard her. Our waiter/bartender meticulously took us through the menu recommending we go with several of the smaller dishes and one main course. We started with the salmon (with a nice kick) and rocket salad then moved on to the dumplings and grilled asparagus (also with some heat) and then had the 1/2 chicken for the main course. The chicken was crisped you perfection on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. It was enough food for an army but we devoured every bit. It was our first time in Adelaide and read the many positive reviews of the restaurant on-line. They did not do it justice. It was one of the best meals we’ve had anywhere in the world. Dinner and drinks and tip came to around $140 Australian and was worth every penny! The only downside is we live 6,000 miles away and can’t come back every month!!
Tasty food and good service. Knowledgeable team, happy to make recommendations and talk about the menu, with healthy dietary catering. The atmosphere was great from the moment we walked in. We had an excellent evening and recommend coming here.
Fantastic atmosphere - we sat at the bar and were entertained all night by the frantic pace of the kitchen. Extensive drinks list which was excellent. Food was delicious - but we did the “Feed Me” option and were a bit disappointed with some of the selections as the ‘stand out’ dishes were missed and we had some serious food envy. Kingfish was unreal, as was the lamb, but the udon noodle and crab scrambled egg sandwich were tasteless. Looking forward to going again but would definitely order a la carte.
Excellent impeccably prepared and presented food! Chashu fried rice, crab meat omelette entree and pork tonkatsu sandwich were standout dishes! Keep up the good work!
The food was amazing, best we have had in Adelaide. The vibe was similar to that of little eateries we ate at in Japan. In particular, waiter James was very attentive and knowledgeable. He anticipated our needs, he helped make our Shobosho experience that much better! We will be coming back to eat regularly!
We had a really great experience at Shobosho, the food and service was great.
The staff were very helpful with explaining the menu and watching the chefs at work really made us appreciate the food, seeing firsthand how they all have to work together to get the orders both correct and served.
Fantastic venue and stunning food. The food was fresh and flavourful. Will go back!
