We hadnt eaten at Shobosho before and were very happy with our choice! The food was excellent, with very very well balanced and interesting flavours.
The service and knowledge of staff with their food and wine/drinks list was excellent as was their service, something not seen often enough in restaurants. The open kitchen where you can see the Chef's making the food was very cool.
We did the "let us feed you" option which we thought was a great way to experience Shobosho.
Excellent restaurant, we would highly recommend it and will be back!!
Good food but probably not completely worth the money. Also reminded them twice it was a birthday event and asked them to do something for it but they still forgot, staff didn't seem very apologetic about the matter either.
I hate to come out the gates with an overall negative review but:
Positives:
1. Food was very good. Cooked well, full of flavour. Good sized servings.
2. Service was fantastic, attentive, not interruptive and considerate and professional.
3. Wait staff were fantastic.
Negatives:
1. We were unclear on the courses for the set menu, we were told a course was our last, when there were still more to come, the final bill was adjusted to consider the missing course but was a surprise.
2. We had 2 of the same item come out for the set menu, which seemed odd.
3. I booked online and paid a $35 dollar booking fee, which was not deducted from the final bill.
Overall I was a little unhappy with the amount paid (around $175 dollars for 2 people) I had to pay and what we got overall, but this may have just been due to unclear process or the restaurant being a little too busy and some human error.
Unfortunately due to the cost issues, I would not recommend this place to others or be likely to return.
Blue Swimmer Crab udon noodles was a highlight. Everything was exceptional
Really enjoyed our meal at Shobosho, small, intimate and very pleasant
Totally recommend eating here.
Food was fresh & beautiful! Extensive wine list and service was fabulous.
We booked an outdoor table and even enjoyed a Musial close by !
Busy night but staff not attentive - had to ask for someone to get drinks/food on arrival - seated and ignored. Didn't get a table like I booked online - had to jam at the bar. Service was very ordinary which is shame because food was good.
Absolutely delicious as always! We will be back again soon!
Best restaurant I’ve been to Adelaide so far! Food, service and atmosphere outstanding. Thank you for an amazing night!
I had booked for myself and my partner to celebrate finishing his PhD and both of us accepting new jobs. On arrival the waitress asked what the occasion was for, which actually ended up as us being engaged as my partner (now fiancé) proposed earlier in the day. The waitress staff were so lovely to us, and provided a celebratory glass on wine and dessert. It was a lovely touch to a delicious meal. We didn't have to wait long between dishes. We order the $75 per person and would recommend it to others. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect night.
Good place and atmosphere, amazing food and very professional service.
Highly recommend.
Food was amazing - especially the salmon tataki and pot stickers. (Foudn the teriyaki chicken a bit average.)
Small space which makes it quite loud inside, but also quite vibey.
Not the cheapest night out...but good food.
This was the third time we had been to Shobosho and it yet again didn't disappoint. The food was phenomenal, service was attentive and friendly and the vibe was awesome. All I want to do is go back!
The food was just amazing
The pork sausage roll was the biggest surprise it was superb
Could not fault anything and the young gentleman who served us was pleasant and knowledgeable
Delicious meal and excellent service! Everything was perfect!
The food was excellent and would definitely go back with a smaller group. e.g. would be perfect as a date spot. I was a bit disappointed with the service and noise for 8 people.
We were sat at the Yakitori bar but as it was a U shape, I was about 2m away from the people on the other side of the table and there was a speaker directly above us which was quite loud. So we were unable to talk to everyone. Additionally, our dessert was forgotten so there was about a 40 minute gap between our last dish and dessert. Having said that, the food was so excellent that I still overall enjoyed the experience. Just wanted to pass on the experience.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Adelaide and have eaten here many times. Usually the experience is faultless. The food on the latest visit was top notch as always, however this time the staff were inattentive (experience was poor from being greeted at the front door and throughout the meal). Hopefully this was just an off night. Will return again and hopefully next time the service matches the food.
All good dishes though beef with ramen not tender.
Atomosphere was incredible, Setting was the closest thing to authentic Japanese feel we have experienced in Australia the food was outstanding and the service friendly and very informative.
Absolutely phenomenal food, very tasty and reminiscent of my time in Japan. Great atmosphere and service, definitely worth a try!
Way too expensive for what you get and got charged 4 bucks a head for sparkling water without any notice. Food is ok but not worth the price.
Absolutely fantastic, staff knew everything from wine origins to pair with selections, the food was flawless
New experience for us but given good guidance by friendly wait staff and very happy with our order and the amount of food. Drink service also very good and laneway atmosphere fun and easy.
Probably the most underwhelming culinary experience I had in Adelaide. Compared to other places with a tasting menu, the offering is small and limited in total dishes - overpriced for what it is as an evening dining option
Definitely look into other places (a few doors / streets either side) for something which is a bit better. More expensive and less enjoyable than most of Melbourne's Asian fusion offerings
Great welcome, excellent menu explanation, straight up wine list provided, no wait for first food course followed by well spaced 2nd & subsequent courses.
Music level excessive for us 60 plus patrons.
Definitely a restaurant to return to.
Our Victorian friends loved it.
Keep it at this level.
Superb food, prompt service, accommodating wait staff
The place is amazing from the food to the service! Can’t wait to go back!
Amazing food and experience. Would definitely return again.
Food and service was en pointe and wasn’t overly expensive. Would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu
This was my friend's first time at Shobosho and they were super impressed with the food, sooooo good! As am I very time I dine here.
They charged me $70 for not showing up and when I tried to call to cancel no one answered. Very disappointed with the experience
The food was delicious. We had the feed me with some extra dishes added. All dishes were well presented and tasted amazing. The service was excellent from all staff and they were very accommodating of our requests. Would definitely eat here again.
Flavours took us on a journey, and service amazing!! Will definitely be back for more
Beautiful food (we had chef’s choice of 4 courses), yummy wine, great service and awesome tunes. Will definitely go again!
Incredible food, great wine and the people were amazing
Best Japanese food! Amazing service, helpful staff. Everything on their menu is so good, can’t wait to return
This place never disappoints. Love everything about the experience.
Great food and great ambience, would go again next time we’re in Adelaide
Fantastic experience that reminded me of why I fell in love with Japanese food in the first place
It was a bit too busy for it's own good. While the service was at a high level, the staff were clearly put under the pump and that affected our experience resulting in wrong orders or drinks occasionally.
We ordered the let us feed you option. Most of the food was divine but if I'm being picky occasionally lacked acid or a sense of freshness. Saying that, the only real disappoint was our mains which were very lack lustre.
Generally a good experience, perhaps a little over priced for the quality.
