At Shōbōsho we blend smoke, steam, and fire. The ancient tradition of Japanese yakitori is combined with the finesse, skill & texture of all that is raw, cured, pickled and fermented.

Our bar and kitchen operates all day. From lunch, to snacks with afternoon sakes, and right into the night.

Shobosho is by far one of the BEST restaurants in Adelaide now, serving up the freshest and most insane flavour combinations (that you could probably never image) the Raw tuna, edamame, black rice and grilled Nori dish is out of this world, and I can never fault this place everytime we come back!

The food was amazing and so was the service. I will defiantly be coming back for the tuna and salmon. I cant remember what the rose was but it worked really well with the food. A day I wont forget.....

Anxious to try Shobosho for nearly 12 mths now - after attending a Tasting Australia function. Not disappointed - food delicious, staff friendly, extremely attentive and happy to answer our never ending questions. A very unique experience that we will never forget and will definitely return to enjoy again.

absolutely loved it! Cool atmosphere. Reminds me of a Melbourne side alley restaurant. Casual and laid back with some house beats playing in the background. Average selection of Japanese whiskey on offer. I tried the Yamazaki 12 year neat. Nice barley notes with aged cedar and peaty aftertaste. Food was well presented and attention to speedy service was appreciated. They were able to accompany our request to swap the dumplings for the pork sando. Overall 4.5/5. Service was ok. We asked for a bar seat online but were seated in booths instead. Waiters were attentive but lacked a welcoming feeling from them. Overall we would go back again and recommend to others.

The food was excellent. I'd say the only miss was the Blue Crab California Roll. It was okay, but the crab was a little lost. The Tuna, Pot-Stickers and Tartare were highlights. One of our dishes got missed, but by that stage we were full, so no major drama. Great drinks list too.

Food was good! But poor service! Went there for the very first time and for the amount we paid, we were expecting a better service! The bill was put on the table when we were still going. When we finished the food, we continued on with some chats and then one of the waiter brought the eftpos machine pressuring us to pay and rushed us through! Very disappointing! Obviously need some customer service training

Our food arrived prior to our drinks. We wanted to wait to have our sake to accompany our meal, and as we were seated at the bar, watched the barman spend many minutes meticulously arranging mint leaves in cocktails, readjusting them and then dusting with icing sugar while our drinks docket sat in front of him. Our $27 skewer of wagyu was going cold in front of us while we waited. We also ordered the heirloom tomatoes on the recommendation of the waiter, who suggested our order was "on the small side". The tomatoes were pale in colour, with hardly any flesh or flavour and much like I would expect to buy in a major supermarket - flavourless and very disappointing. Especially for a $17 side. The other food was good, but other than the "pot-sticker" dumplings, nothing that I would particularly strongly recommend. I had wanted to come to Shobosho since it opened and was really disappointed with the food and overall experience.

Don’t mind spending nearly $300 for 2 People for a nice dinner but felt really cramped on the bar bench. Food was great but if I’m to spend good money on a dinner for 2 I would like to be comfortable . Felt a little disappointed as I was really looking forward to the experience. Very little space for plates and glasses . Felt like I was eating on a aircraft as had so little room.

We went to shobosho with quite high expectations. We decided to have the chefs menu to try a variety of their dishes. I felt that the majority of the dishes were quite average and nothing stood out. There was a particular Japanese Greek salad that was quite bad that we couldn't finish. The two couples either side of us that also were given this salad and it seemed like they could finish it either. The teriyaki chicken was quite nice but we were only given the quarter. Considering the price of the meal, I felt that they could have considered the half. Perhaps the menu is better during other months but I didn't feel like it was anything amazing

Firstly many thanks to the person on the door who was able to calmly change our reservation to enable us to have a chair with a back.
Food choices and drinks were extensive and delicious and knowledgeable staff ensured ease of ordering.
A wonderful food and cultural experience.

Unfortunately after all the hype we were slightly dissapointed with the food. The raw tuna was great and definitely worth trying but unfortunately the rest of the food was extremely mediocre. Our pork cutlets were over cooked that we barely touched them. The restaurant was beautiful and the ambience was great. Very busy for an 8pm sitting so vibe was great but unfortunately attension to detail got a bit lost due to it being busy. Hopefully we can try you again and it was just a busy 'off' night

Anniversary meal with the wife. Ordered the Wagyu tartare and raw tuna which were outstanding...tuna was a highlight of the night. Followed with the half chicken...again top draw with the bread to mop up the juices...liquid gold...garfish was next...told on arrival that it was boned from head to tail and we found at least a dozen bones which was the only negative of the night...apart from the bones the Gar was ripper...finished with an ice cream sandwich and a apricot cheesecake which were ok...would have liked more SA wine choice by the glass but apart from that really enjoyed the evening...still one of my favourite restaurants around

Service slow and inattentive. The lack of ventilation for an open kitchen was appalling. We had to shower and wash our hair after leaving as the smoke across the restaurant was so bad, it stung your eyes and impacted the entire experience. Food was okay but not worth enduring the uncomfortable restaurant environment. Definitely would not return.

Excellent service and drinks list. We were seated at the kitchen, which I like, but it was extremely smokey at times - that was the only downfall really. Yummy food, with a good balance of different sized dishes. Great food to share. Would definitely dine again.
