From a specially-commissioned cooking line consisting of a wood oven, hydraulic grill, rotisserie and customised yakitori pit, the element of fire speaks through simply seasoned, seared meats and vegetables.
The menu covers raw to cooked, with yakitori, noodles, dumplings, bao, robata grilled and spit roasted meats.
Our bar and kitchen operates all day. From lunch, to snacks with afternoon sakes, and right into the night.
Wonderful food, fantastic floor show watching the kitchen staff! They were amazing and worked tremendously hard! Loved it and want to come back!
Top notch experience, from the food and the service through to the design and the overall feel of the space. We loved it.
Awesome food experience and wine list solid but missing in a few spots. Understand looking to support local though. Wait staff awesome as well! Overall: Busy, noisy but lots of fun if you come prepared. Don’t miss out on this one!
disappointed in the service, felt like we weren't welcome and not cool or young enough to be there.
recently dined at Lucy Lui in Melbourne which is very similar but service and food there was outstanding and a benchmark for u guys i'd say.
yr food was lovely, least fave was pork dish as very fatty but not enough acid in kimchi to cut thru.
Food was outstanding and the service was excellent. Highly recommend sitting at the bar seating to watch it all unfold. Absolute precision with their food presentation.
We had a waiter who was new and he killed it! Lovely service, he knew the menu well and gave wonderful recommendations. The food is gorgeous to look at and eat, and the atmosphere is modern and intimate.
Shobosho has been my favourite restaurant in Adelaide since it opened. Every dish is outstanding.
Great dining experience; must try if you’re visiting the city!
Appreciate the fact we were not hurried to leave
Everything was delicious. You could clearly see the time and love put into every dish. I would dine here every day if I could!
One of my top 3 restaurants in Adelaide. New dishes on menu were pointed out by staff, ordered and can highly recommend. Never had a bad experience here.
Cleanest open kitchen I've ever seen in my life!!
Will definitely dine in this place again!!!!!!!!!!
From the moment we walked into Shobosho we knew it was going to be an incredible evening. The restaurant was busting with large and intimate groups of people clearly enjoying the experience. We sat at the counter near the front door with a bird’s eye view of the bartender mixing unique concoctions of specialty cocktails. Further down we could see the kitchen with the head of the kitchen barking out the new orders coming in from the tables and the chefs answering her back in unison that they heard her. Our waiter/bartender meticulously took us through the menu recommending we go with several of the smaller dishes and one main course. We started with the salmon (with a nice kick) and rocket salad then moved on to the dumplings and grilled asparagus (also with some heat) and then had the 1/2 chicken for the main course. The chicken was crisped you perfection on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. It was enough food for an army but we devoured every bit. It was our first time in Adelaide and read the many positive reviews of the restaurant on-line. They did not do it justice. It was one of the best meals we’ve had anywhere in the world. Dinner and drinks and tip came to around $140 Australian and was worth every penny! The only downside is we live 6,000 miles away and can’t come back every month!!
Tasty food and good service. Knowledgeable team, happy to make recommendations and talk about the menu, with healthy dietary catering. The atmosphere was great from the moment we walked in. We had an excellent evening and recommend coming here.
Fantastic atmosphere - we sat at the bar and were entertained all night by the frantic pace of the kitchen. Extensive drinks list which was excellent. Food was delicious - but we did the “Feed Me” option and were a bit disappointed with some of the selections as the ‘stand out’ dishes were missed and we had some serious food envy. Kingfish was unreal, as was the lamb, but the udon noodle and crab scrambled egg sandwich were tasteless. Looking forward to going again but would definitely order a la carte.
Excellent impeccably prepared and presented food! Chashu fried rice, crab meat omelette entree and pork tonkatsu sandwich were standout dishes! Keep up the good work!
The food was amazing, best we have had in Adelaide. The vibe was similar to that of little eateries we ate at in Japan. In particular, waiter James was very attentive and knowledgeable. He anticipated our needs, he helped make our Shobosho experience that much better! We will be coming back to eat regularly!
We had a really great experience at Shobosho, the food and service was great.
The staff were very helpful with explaining the menu and watching the chefs at work really made us appreciate the food, seeing firsthand how they all have to work together to get the orders both correct and served.
Fantastic venue and stunning food. The food was fresh and flavourful. Will go back!
We opted for the 7 course meal for sharing amongst 5 of us, and it was a brilliant suggestion from the waiter. Not only was the quality of the food amazing, but it was so varied and in generous portions, that it made the whole luncheon very easy to socialise over.
Excellent food with amazing and attentive service. Dealt with allergies very well. Only complaint would be that the stools are quite hard and uncomfortable to sit in for a long period of time.
We so enjoyed the sho experience. We have raved about and recommended it to all we have met this week in our travels in the barossa and beyond. Keep up the good work guys and girls. 😋😋😋
Delicious food with an awesome atmosphere. We sat at the bar which was so interesting to see how the food is prepped. Would be great for a first date as would fill in any awkwardness in conversation. Highly recommended!
Loved the atmosphere, service and food. We chose the feed me option for 2 which was great. We will definitely be back and after being seated in front of the kitchen, we know what we will independently order next time. Cheers joe
Food was great, the Meatball Sandwich was AMAZING, great atmosphere watching the dishes prepared right in front of you, fantastic experience.
Amazing food, friendly and approachable service and great venue. Will be back when we are in Adelaide next!
The food was just amazing. So much flavour and just exquisite in every bite.
A superb lunch. This is a well run restaurant, great service & food. We will I’ll definitely be back.
Fantastic food, friendly efficient and attentive staff. It can be a little noisy but you can still hear the music at a reasonable level. Small but well curated range of sake. Would happily bring any guest here and it is number one for our personal celebrations.
This is our second visit. As soon as we ate there, I wanted to come back and bring my daughter who was visiting from interstate. Again, the food was inspired, creative and flavoursome. Service was excellent, and the amount of effort they go to, to clean the cookers is amazing - it actually forms part of the entertainment I think!! Will def be going back!
Best modern Japanese food in South Australia! LOVE it!!
The seating very uncomfortable as the booths are very small. I also don't like sitting on stools if we had
to sit in the middle tables.
The food was great and with attentive quick service. The ambience was noisy and busy with an open kitchen so it was mix of experiences. The wine list had to Cabernet t all but the Dome Shiraz was good. Cheers!
We enjoyed our time and food in general. But was a bit disappointed about the Wagyu beef as the sauce tasted like chemicals. The chicken was amazing though.
The staff were lovely and accommodating. Felt like each of them were brining some of theirselves to the experience, making it genuine and comfortable. Along with the amazing food.
Amazing to sit so close to be able to watch the food preparation. Amazing food - both quality and flavours. Fantastic wine list and fabulous staff. We will return!
Two issues with what promised so much! Firstly, not the most comfortable of seating for larger parties of over 50 year olds. Low wooden stools. And secondly, we had the larger of the fixed menus ($75/head) and found it hit or miss. A couple of excellent courses, and a couple of less so (the leek - looked great, not really for sharing). The wine list was excellent, albeit a little eclectic, and fully priced. $600 for 5 of us, including 3 bottles of average priced wine for lunch. But then, we knew that when we ordered it all! Would I go again? Probably not, which is a great shame. Young persons place, choose what you like on the menu (and it has some great choices) and you will not be disappointed.
Stunning food (try the leek), informed professional staff.
Special occasion and food, staff made it truly memorable
Amazing food and dining experience! Loved it!! Perfection 👏
Great food and atmosphere overall. Dessert was disappointing. $75 set menu is no cheap. So you should not get a scoop of ice cream on a plate for dessert. C’mon at least give me a nice presentation. Service was ok... anything exceptional. I guess they were busy with big tables!
Don’t expect Japanese food, expect Japanese Plus. Original small plates with a modern Japanese/Australian spin. We left it to the staff to make the selections. Excellent food - a must try.
