At Shōbōsho we blend smoke, steam, and fire. The ancient traditions of Japanese yakitori is combined with the finesse, skill & texture of all that is raw, cured, pickled and fermented.

From a specially-commissioned cooking line consisting of a wood oven, hydraulic grill, rotisserie and customised yakitori pit, the element of fire speaks through simply seasoned, seared meats and vegetables.

The menu covers raw to cooked, with yakitori, noodles, dumplings, bao, robata grilled and spit roasted meats.

Our bar and kitchen operates all day. From lunch, to snacks with afternoon sakes, and right into the night.

One of my favourite restaurants. My friend is a chef with a restaurant in Tokyo and had never eaten here. We decided in the lunch time tasting menu. The first four small plates were great but we were a little disappointed with the last two. Cabbage and chicken just aren’t that exciting....but that’s a personal opinion. The kingfish, edamame, bonito, is still a giant hit. Thanks for a great lunch.

Do the Gochiso menu if you go. It's a little pricey (about $75pp), but worth it. You get between 7-8 different dishes, each one as unique as the one before it. And it runs the gamut, from seafood to meat, to veggies. All delicious. We've gone everytime we've visited Adelaide!

Food is OK but pricey. But what makes me really uncomfortable is that the chef tastes every dish with the SAME spoon without clean it and he even licks the spoon sometimes.
Thanks that we ordered dumplings which he was not able to taste. Won’t be there again.

Always a great night! Staff are excellent and the menu changes enough to keep it variable but old favs remain.

It is noisy and busy and hot with the open kitchen and it is great because of it

Every time we go to Adelaide we make sure to book a dinner here

An interesting lunch and comparison to my previous visit (Saturday dinner) was quite a dramatic difference - lunch was subdued whereas the dinner was noisy and "busy". Despite the business and noise we enjoyed the dinner more

Nice food but it was overpriced with small portion sizes. They had run out of multiple items on both the food and drinks menus when we were there which was disappointing.

Most amazing food I have ever eaten in my life. Had the service to go with it, everyone there made it not just somewhere to eat but a proper experience. Highly recommended, also recommended sitting facing the kitchen when you go. 10/10, thanks Shobosho.

The food was really delicious. Especially loved the tartare. Good service. However was a bit on the pricey side. I would definitely recommend still though. We had a booth which was great especially when your sharing, perfect for 4. I will definitely be back.

Dined at Shobosho with my hubby for my birthday dinner. Did not disappoint. Food was incredible, so much flavour packed into every dish. If we had an edible vessel to mop up the sauces from the plates I am sure they would have gone back to the kitchen clean as a whistle. Great atmosphere too. We will be back!

We went to Shobosho for a quick dinner before a show. Our dinner reservation was for 5pm and even at such an early time it was busy! The service was quick and attentive. We loved the different flavours each dish had to offer. We ordered 3 entrees and 1 main to share between two. Perfect serving sizes and a great drinks list to match. We thought the price was okay for us however could teeter on the more expensive side for other people.

This was our first visit to Shoboshu. We chose the Chef's 5 course degustation menu and it was brilliant. The Leek dish and the omelette were a standout!

Great food. We felt uncomfortable to have waiters whispering multiple times, amongst themselves while taking our order and then running after us twice, in the street and then at Maybe May, assuming that we didn't pay for our meals. Great food and atmosphere outside of this.

This is the 2nd time that we have been to this wonderful restaurant and we absolutely love the food.
This was as special event with Clayton Wells of Automata Restaurant in Sydney. The ambiance and food and the dynamic of this foodie heaven is a must for anyone that lives and breathes food!

Perfect staff, perfect food, perfect, fun, friendly service. I took my husband in for his 40th birthday on Saturday and we were blown away with every aspect. Amazing.
