At Shōbōsho we blend smoke, steam, and fire. The ancient traditions of Japanese yakitori is combined with the finesse, skill & texture of all that is raw, cured, pickled and fermented.

From a specially-commissioned cooking line consisting of a wood oven, hydraulic grill, rotisserie and customised yakitori pit, the element of fire speaks through simply seasoned, seared meats and vegetables.

The menu covers raw to cooked, with yakitori, noodles, dumplings, bao, robata grilled and spit roasted meats.

Our bar and kitchen operates all day. From lunch, to snacks with afternoon sakes, and right into the night.

We sat at the bar which is excellent if you like to watch the bustle of the kitchen and the preparation of the dishes. Michael provided outstanding service throughout the evening and offered advice on selection choices from a 5 part menu suitable for sharing. We settled on Wagyu crackers, raw kingfish, blue crab salad, pork fried rice , 1/4 teriyaki chicken and hi-chew sorbet to finish. All dishes were served with fine dining care, innovative and delicious. The noise level was slightly high and probably not suitable for a first romantic date. Highly recommend an evening here

My expectations were high as I have eaten at Shobosho previously. I was not disappointed on Sunday. The food was excellent as usual and the service was fabulous. Very happy to recommend Shobosho.

Great food and service. Pretty extensive wine list. A little on the noisey side for large group.
Sitting at the bar and having a tete a tete with a significant other, downing an aged Sake and watching a chicken with the feet attached go around on a custom built spit roast ............. awesome!

We enjoyed some of the early courses in the chef's selection from the lunch menu, but the main courses were a bit too rich for us. I have seen glowing reviews about these same main dishes so I know that it comes down to a personal preference thing rather than it being poor food.

Food was slightly too salty than usual, and overall the gochiso meal felt heavier than it should have been and we all found ourselves drinking so much water.

The other times i have been to Shobosho, the food was absolutely splendid, and everything complemented each other. (This was my 4th visit, and i've had the gochiso menu each time).

The food was good and tasty
The ambience not so, I never want to leave a restaurant smelling of smoke from the cooking fire
Very expensive for what you get, for example don’t order the crab and rice dish, $31 for half cup of rice and 3 pieces of crab = rip off
I wouldn’t go back

Fantastic experience all round. Great for a first date through to group fun. Joel & the team really looked after us and it's one of our most memorable bits of our trip to SA. Book in if you're travelling to Adelaide soon!

The food and service at Shobosho were terrific. We were a little disappointed that our requested table sitting was no longer available - but the restaurant did phone ahead to let us know. We sat at the bar and while interesting to watch the kitchen action, it was a little busy and warm from the cooking fire!
Standout dishes were the katsu pork sandwich and delicious fried rice - with truffle I think! A lovely bottle of Muscadet - and really there's not a lot to complain about!

Guest Chef from Hong Kong $90.00 per head for food only, i think food was overpriced for what was served. Chicken was the main ingredient, without anything else on the plate. Seems that some restaurants think that having loud music playing contributes to the atmosphere. For me, i couldn't hear my partner or the waitress unless they shouted.

We both loved it, but were not happy we were able to sit at a table. The seats at the bar are not very comfortable and we both suffer from lower back issues. The food and service amazing and we hope to come back soon and sit at a table.

Shobosho is always outstanding for the friendly, efficient and knowledgeable service, the interesting cocktails and carefully curated wine list and, of course, delicious and interesting food. Hint: the prawn crackers are a must!

Everything about the experience at Shobosho is fantastic. The ambience of the room is utterly enjoyable - it is just buzzing. The waiters and waitresses are so professional and polite. They make your experience feel personal. We sat facing the kitchen and being able to watch was just so fascinating and added to the experience. The food was, well, just could not be faulted. The level of creativity that came out on the plates was out of this world. The flavour combination of the foods were just to die for. It was hands down the best experience I have had at a restaurant.

Fantastic Service, Fantastic Food. You can’t ask for much else when you are eating out.

Very accomodating waiting staff. Excellent selection of Drinks. Food was out of this world.

Would highly recommend! Can’t wait to get back!

Great food, beautiful atmosphere, first time my partner and i were in was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had, finished up with a good chat to the sues chef who just radiates passion along side his team, second time in still holds a great spot. Really cool to see how no matter where you are seated your experience is always different and unique and i really enjoy that, one of the best places to go for asian food!

Already have recommended it several times!
Amazing food and great service, we had a great time. So thankful for the waiters menu help & the recommendation of the Raw Kingfish - the best thing I’ve ever eaten!
