From a specially-commissioned cooking line consisting of a wood oven, hydraulic grill, rotisserie and customised yakitori pit, the element of fire speaks through simply seasoned, seared meats and vegetables.
The menu covers raw to cooked, with yakitori, noodles, dumplings, bao, robata grilled and spit roasted meats.
Our bar and kitchen operates all day. From lunch, to snacks with afternoon sakes, and right into the night.
As usual fantastic food
Very innovative and tasty
The half roast chicken is a star
Love the restaurant
We went to Shobosho for a quick dinner before a show. Our dinner reservation was for 5pm and even at such an early time it was busy! The service was quick and attentive. We loved the different flavours each dish had to offer. We ordered 3 entrees and 1 main to share between two. Perfect serving sizes and a great drinks list to match. We thought the price was okay for us however could teeter on the more expensive side for other people.
Food amazing ! Definitely go i ng back.
Venue is very cool.
Awesome!! Would definitely come back, the staff were all fantastic!
This was our first visit to Shoboshu. We chose the Chef's 5 course degustation menu and it was brilliant. The Leek dish and the omelette were a standout!
always a great meal - loved the fried rice and the lamb in particular! So full no need for dinner....
Warm and inviting atmosphere. Modern, delicious Japanese food prepared with love and detail. Plenty of dishes to choose from and and very helpful service.
The food here is great - very interesting, made for sharing so you can taste lots of things. Fairly noisy with older people!
Great food. We felt uncomfortable to have waiters whispering multiple times, amongst themselves while taking our order and then running after us twice, in the street and then at Maybe May, assuming that we didn't pay for our meals. Great food and atmosphere outside of this.
This is the 2nd time that we have been to this wonderful restaurant and we absolutely love the food.
This was as special event with Clayton Wells of Automata Restaurant in Sydney. The ambiance and food and the dynamic of this foodie heaven is a must for anyone that lives and breathes food!
Perfect staff, perfect food, perfect, fun, friendly service. I took my husband in for his 40th birthday on Saturday and we were blown away with every aspect. Amazing.
Our experience with Shobosho has been mixed. We originally booked a table for my son's 18th birthday. We received a missed call from the restaurant a couple of hours before we were due there. I left a message saying that I received a missed call and if it was something other than an booking confirmation for them to ring me back. As we live a fair way from the city we left, not having received a call. Upon arrival to the restaurant we were told that it had been shut down due to a problem with their large extraction fans. I said we hadn't been told this as there had been no message, just a missed call. No apology was forthcoming.
We decided to give Shobosho another go. The service was very friendly but the wait staff kept changing. This became an issue as we wanted to leave ASAP (it was getting very late at this stage) and asked - a few times - for all the food to be sent to us at once. This never happened. The wait between courses seemed interminable, particularly for me - a coeliac - who could only eat every second course or so. We also had to let the staff know a few times that we didn't want dessert - each time a different staff member.
We were happy to have a 'feed me' menu but I feel that we were still charged for the food that we didn't end up getting. Additionally the wine on the menu that we ordered was unavailable.
Amazing food. Pork sandwich was to die for. Waitress Fen was awesome. Great wine selection also.
Great food, interesting choices, speedy service, friendly but professional atmosphere. Will visit again 👍🙂
Took my mum out for a special dinner. She didn't really know what Japanese food was like(thought it was just raw fish).
After tonight she is a convert. Loved the teriyaki chicken, lamb belly and dumplings. Even got her to try some sake!
Very enjoyable night out
Excellent food. Friendly and informed staff with amazing suggestions. Great value for money. Seems well catered for large parties or can hide away in a booth with that special someone
Our Shobosho experience was outstanding in all respects. All Chefs' selection dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. A lot of fun watching the open kitchen in action. The Shobosho team was very dynamic, friendly and knowledgeable. Special thanks for looking after our vegetarian diner. Great fitout, service and wine list. Shobosho was a highlight of our trip to Adelaide. Thank you.
Excellent food - adventurous with well balanced flavours; good drinks list. Staff are very knowledgable and helpful.
The tastes and vibe were awesome. We were a little disappointed that for the price of the degustation/feed me option we still left slightly hungry and the request for some yakitori was turned down. However if you are not a big eater then give it a try!
Overall a great dinner experience, food was delicious and quick service, great drinks selection, great atmosphere. Bit of attitude from our waitress. Highly recommend.
It was our first time dining at Shobosho and we were looking forward to it as we had heard such great things. I made a booking for my boyfriends birthday and we’re greeted with our waitress who really ruined the experience for us. She wasn’t friendly whatsoever especially when we asked for help with the menu as it was our first time. Whenever we asked a question she would respond in a really condescending manner as if we were stupid for asking. She wasn’t interested in providing any form of customer service at all. It’s such a shame because the food was amazing and the atmosphere was great for a birthday lunch. We own our own bar and restaurant and definitely wouldn’t employ someone with such a negative attitude. It really ruined our experience and hasn’t left us feeling like our money was well spent. We’d love to return but hope we aren’t served by her.
We had a 5th birthday lunch for our business, which we do every year to celebrate the milestone. I have dined at Shobosho before and was blown away by the food, so I couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate. We were not disappointed!! Amazing!
AMAZING!! The best Wedding anniversary dinner ever. Food incredible good, staff super. Thank you!!
Food, service, ambience all really wonderful thank you.
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Thank you so much!
I was there for Matty Matheson and his influence was felt across the meny for the evening. The highlights for me was the dish that sounded that least appetising...beef marrow and pickle on toast with beef broth. I could have drunk the beef broth all night. It was divine and it alone made the meal great value.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere and the staff were sensational.
Visiting Adelaide for the weekend and discovered this wonderful spot. The food was delicious and the ambience was perfect - both relaxed and energetic at once!
What a vibrant place, with restaurants like this Adelaide is right up there with the other capital cities.
We sat at the counter and watched the action and only back from a couple of weeks in Japan in the last couple of weeks, we were ready to compare. We ordered 4 dishes. Kingfish appetiser, Sui mai, pot stickers and chicken yakitori. All delicious- the chicken a real standout. The mix of Japanese and other Asian delights is refreshing. The wine list is pretty impressive too. Highly recommended by two happy diners.
Shobosho is a totally immersive experience and we loved it. Watching the chefs at work while seated at the counter was theatrical and exciting. But the star of the show was the food - unique, delicious, different and exceptional. We plan on returning very soon as nothing compares to it.
Outstanding food and service! It’s definitely a place to go.
Very Good!.... Have been here more than once...Food quality is great....
Food was awesome. Was great to sit at the kitchen bench and talk to the chefs and watch how they work.
Great service from a very friendly waiter. We sat at the kitchen bar and watched the chefs cook who were also very friendly but more importantly very skilled. Good fun
Great atmosphere, delicious food and wonderful staff.
Dinner at Shobosho was amazing, staff excellent, we could not fault our dining experience.
Outstanding cuisine delivered with friendly knowledgeable service. One of our favourite restaurants. Highly recommended!
Fast service, VERY friendly staff, delicious food, delightful wines, great whisky, lovely sake. We can't wait to visit again!!!
We had the Banquet option and it was outstanding food with a good mix of familiar dishes and some more inventive but all equally delicious. One of our party members was running late but the host was able to accommodate our booking for longer which meant we could all enjoy the meal and take our time which was greatly appreciated.
Love the food, presentation of the food is exceptional, and staff are extremely attentive and know their menu. Great wine list too!
