Shoal Creek Tavern
Sat in the rear of the restaurant for the first time as we met another couple (SCT newcomers) there. All was the usual terrific experience we receive in the bar area. Only drawback was that following the meal, one of our guests stated his steak was undercooked by a fairly large margin. He ordered medium rare and said it was “really” rare...
We love Florencio! We have been long-time customers of Jim’s places, since The Village Grill days. The food and ambiance at Shoal Creek is fabulous!! It’s cozy and yet so nice! Our server Andrew was outstanding. The Happy Birthday written on the complimentary dessert is such a beautiful way to end the evening too. Thank you!
The food was absolutely amazing and the staff was so very accommodating. I’d highly suggest visiting (especially for the brisket burger)!
Great locally owned restaurant with great service and selection. Our waiter “Zack” was awesome!!!
The pork chop that our companion had was excellent. He ate the whole thing. The rib eye chicken friend steak was outstanding according to my husband. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Texas.
The outside dining area was comfortable when the heater was turned on, it was a little chilly prior to the heater being turned on.
Great food and atmosphere. Menu is amazing.
Food is excellent, but a high price point for every day family dining.
This was our second visit and we were very pleased overall. The food was very good and the service was attentive. It’s fast becoming a favorite.
Service was excellent. Drinks were excellent. Food was excellent. I think I just found my favorite place to go to. Everything was so good, the drinks and appetizer and dessert. I am absolutely amazed.
Six ladies met to celebrate a birthday. Service was great as was the food. The only complaint was from the three ladies who had a salad as part of their meal. The plate was not big enough to hold the salad once you started eating. The opinion by all of them is for the salad to be chopped into smaller pieces. Our waiter was kind enough to give the birthday lady a free dessert, which was fabulous.
We've never had a bad experience at Shoal Creek! Every time we go we enjoy the warm hospitality and fantastic food and drinks. It's one of our regular hangouts!
Good food and service they made my daughters birthday very special.
My family and I were visiting the area, all getting together for my mom’s 65 birthday. My dad loves beer and tap rooms so I booked a table thru opentable expecting them to be ready for us. At no point in the reservation process did they ask if we would like to sit inside or on their covered patio basically outside. We arrived and there were 3 young hostesses just standing around. One hostess took us to a table (not that it was reserved or had a sign or anything) there was no obvious plan for the red. The table they showed us to was out on the covered patio that was extraordinarily warm. I asked if we could sit inside to which the hostess turned to a table basically in the doorway to the outside and offered us it. When I asked if we would be able to close the door to the patio she said of course I will. Well she didn’t so I did and was immediately informed the door must stay open. I know it all sounds petty but my parents were very warm and as it was a celebration we asked if there was a table further in the restaurant. As we were waiting a very rude woman, can only assume she’s the owner or manager, came up to ask the hostesses what were we needing...it’s not the best course of action to have a discussion about patrons in front of them! Let’s just say we chose not to sit in the hallway on pushed together two tops! We chose to go to a different restaurant. To add insult to injury as we were leaving she was like, wait we can sit you here and close the door?!?! Don’t recommend and I wouldn’t think Open Table would want to support this restaurant - we will definitely NOT be back BEWARE horrible experience
Went for brunch. The roasted jalapeño corn cakes were so yummy!
We generally love everything about Shoal Creek except the noise level, but the service on the particular night we went was not up to their usual standards. We had to ask for separate plates for the appetizer and then again for the dessert - not something you should have to ask for. Even after asking, the response was slow. Our waiter was courteous, but didn’t really seem on top of things. Hopefully this was an exception to the rule of normally excellent service/food/ambiance. We’ll go back for sure!
Fathers Day celebration
Have dined here dozens of times. Busy times/ Weekends, weekdays, and Easter brunches, etc. Will never return for Father’s day or another special occasion. Over 1 hour and water just delivered to the table. 90 minutes to see our orders. With a reservation we waited 40 min to be seated. The restaurant was not full. Very disappointed at the management of Father’s Day brunch. The house was overwhelmed. Management should pay attention...it’s a great restaurant that failed to execute today.
Father’s Day brunch. The sour cream pancakes were the best pancakes I’ve ever had. Yum. Everyone was happy with their meals.
My guest and I had the lamb chops. This was my second visit for the lamb chops. They tasted outstanding. The server was attentive and apprised my guest of dishes that would help her avoid her food allergies. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening.
We have been here multiple times, we will continue coming. Solid place for dinner, lunch, and brunch. I have had many entrees, all have been great. The asada tonight was very tasty
We are regulars to Schoal Creek. Always have wonderful food and fantastic service. We never have to worry about my husbands garlic allergy as they are very attentive and cater for him.
Bravo Schoal Creek staff.
This is a great place to go for a night out or before/after a movie nearby. We sat at the bar and received amazing service from Juanito. We love to try new cocktails and know what flavors work for us and he gave us several drinks that hit the mark. The stuffed shrimp on the seafood appetizer was great, the other fried items just average. The chili relleno and grits were also great. Can't wait to come back and try some more drinks!
We were celebrating a special occasion, noted on the reservation but I guess the staff did not see the note. Server never asked if were were celebrating anything either.
Ordered a double cocktail. Based upon size, I wonder what the single size was because it was not there was double the ice but not sure double the beverage. Definitely DOUBLE the cost.
We ordered the calamari/shrimp appetizer which was good then had two house salads which were good but a little pricey.
I tried the pork chop to get something different and should have gone with a steak. Was tough and did not like the seasoning. My wife’s steak tasted pretty good as I stole a few pieces.
No dessert to review.
No complaints with the service.
Would we go back probably but not anytime soon as I t was not an OMG experience.
First time visiting. 25 year anniversary celebration. Food was delicious & service was excellent. Really enjoyed the intimate setting. Spent nearly 2 hours but time flew by. Staff was personable & really knew their menu. Highly recommend!!
Great dinner for Mother's day, food was excellent as were the "Old Fashions" and the wine. I recommend this for an enjoyable dinner any night.
Excellent service. Food was very good. Appetizers particularly good. Shrimp/Scallops excellent. Entrees good as well. Chicken dish was rather bland. Overall a good experience.
The food ordered from the menu is delicious & well prepared. The Mothers Day buffet on 5/12/19 was not warm & not aesthetically pleasing, it didn’t look like the individual dishes ordered from their menu.
Mothers Day Brunch served buffet style. Although it looked attractive, some of the items offered were poor quality for the price.
Fabulous service on a very busy day (Mother's Day); very attentive.
Buffet was delicious, fresh, wide variety.
10/10 will buffet again.
I have visited this restaurant once before and really enjoyed the food which is why I chose it for my Mother's Day brunch. I was disappointed to find out that on Mother's Day they only offered a buffet style setting. I was dining with my children ages (8,6, and 10 months) who barely eat. So paying $16.99 each for the oldest two was disappointing. I wished the restaurant had disclosed at the time of the reservation that there was only this special Mother's Day buffet and given the open to choose if it was worth it for our family to join or choose to enjoy their regular menu at a different time. In addition to paying too much for the kids, I was disappointed that there was not a green salad option on the buffet. All in all, I would return to enjoy the regular menu but certainly not for a 'special occasion'.
Overall, I was disappointed. I made reservations on Open Table for Mother's Day at 10:30am. About a week later, the GM called me saying Open Table made a mistake and they had to change my reservation to 9:30am. I get a follow up call from the GM two days before to confirm my booking where I was informed Mother's day was buffet only and that my reservation was only good for an hour and a half - Felt rushed before we even got there!
The food was okay, but nothing so great to justify $35/person plus drinks. Add to that the time constraints, I felt Shoal Creek was focused more on making money than providing a positive experience.
Food was OK. We attended the Easter brunch, and the food was not very hot at all. Most of the “hot food” I consumed was Luke warm and somewhat bland. I probably would not revisit this restaurant.
There was a bit of confusion with the table availability for our reservation for the Easter Buffet but we did get a seat within 20 minutes of our arrival despite the fact that were empty 4 top tables the whole time.
The food on the buffet was delicious but the layout of the food was a bit tight.
Great price though for the quality of the food.
The food, presentation and atmosphere were great. Definitely get the bread appetizer...delicious! I ordered the stuffed chili rejenno, and it was very good as well.
Visited with 2 friends to celebrate a birthday and just catch up. Service and food was excellent and wine and drinks were very good. We had three different meals and each one was very good with nice presentation. I had the pork chop and is was excellent. Very limited noise level, good for talking. Staff was very good at paying attention to our needs but not interrupting our conversion or meal. I would recommend this place to another looking for a good meal and good wine list.
Friendly atmosphere, great bartender and creative drinks. Amazing menu
Outside on the patio was a bit noisy. Next time we'll ask for a table inside. Otherwise, an enjoyable experience.
Great place to dine with friends. Food, drinks and service were excellent. Will definitely be going back.
Excellent brunch menu! There were 4 of us and everyone ordered something different and everyone liked their choice. It is a great atmosphere and reasonably priced. Highly recommend!
