About this restaurant

  • Neighbourhood gem
  • Charming
  • Healthy
Shin isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a piece of culinary history. We were the only restaurant outside of Japan ever invited to be featured at the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, a prestigious honor shared with just 45 others worldwide. Born from that legacy, Shin brought the soul of Japanese ramen to Los Angeles, where we were proudly named the #1 Japanese restaurant in LA for over two years.

Now nestled in the heart of Hollywood, Shin serves authentic ramen, hand-crafted sushi, and signature teriyaki bowls in a stylish, welcoming space. And if that’s not enough to set us apart — our owner is also a longtime professional magician and Magic Castle member, often performing spontaneous close-up magic right at your table.

Come for the food, stay for the experience. Whether you’re seeking world-class ramen, a memorable date night, or a hidden gem to impress your out-of-town guests, Shin delivers an unforgettable journey of taste and wonder.

Sushi, ramen and more in the heart of Hollywood 🍣🍜⭐️ Shin has been serving the flavors of Japan since 2011. Their menu features a wide variety of sushi, rice bowls, ramen and more. What we tried: • Pork gyoza • Ghost dip • Yellowtail jalapeño • Chicken teriyaki bento box • James Mulligan roll • Assorted nigiri 📍 @hollywoodshin 1655 N La Brea Ave Los Angeles, CA 90028

Shin Hollywood (@hollywoodshin) serves up a wide variety of authentic Japanese dishes—from ramen and sushi to A5 wagyu and desserts 🍣🍜 The Shin ramen was rich and comforting, and the A5 wagyu rock was such a fun, interactive experience. We also tried the eel rice, a large nigiri and sashimi combo, plus toro and sweet shrimp on the side. We ended with crispy tempura green tea ice cream. Spacious seating with high-back leather booths, plus free parking makes it an easy spot to come back to. 📍1655 N La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028 #LosAngelesEats #HollywoodEats #JapaneseFoodLA #SushiLA #Hollywoodfood

Tried SHIN in Hollywood and loved it! Flavors are bomb. 🙌 I recommend Baked Salmon Sushi with caviar and Crispy Rice with Wagyu and Caviar. I didn’t try the Ramen because it was too hot the day we came but they were featured in Ramen Museum in Japan. @hollywoodshin #shinhollywood #hollywood #losangeles #foodie #losangelescreator

✨ We finally checked out the newly reopened @hollywoodshin and the menu did not disappoint! ✨ We started with some incredible small bites. We couldn’t resist the classics: Agedashi Tofu, Vegan Gyoza, and Takoyaki. Then went big with the dramatic A5 Wagyu Rock for One 🔥🥩. Of course, ramen is a must here — we tried both the Tonkatsu Shoyu and Tonkatsu Shio bowls, packed with rich flavor. 🍜 We also had their comforting Veggie Curry, plus a sushi + sashimi spread: Ikura, Scallop, Toro, Uni, and fresh cuts of Bluefin, Salmon, Secret Shrimp, Toro Sashimi, and Yellowtail. 🐟🍣 A little bit of everything and every bite was worth it! Thank you @vegasandfood and @hollywoodshin for the delicious experience. #sushi #reopening #hollywood #ramennoodles #foodblogger

We went on Christmas day and I think they were understaffed. The waitress forgot our miso soup. We were full with other foods so didn’t remind her.

Very comfortable Japanese restaurant with a small parking lot. Plenty of seating, friendly staff, clean bathrooms and the food is very good. There is a small happy hour menu. But the menu has plenty of options and nice pictures to help if you are not sure. Good music and there are a few tvs around the place with music videos or sports playing. When you arrive and sat, you receive a hot towel, a very nice touch. When you are done, you touch the cube on the table signaling staff that you are done.

There was fairly loud music playing at the restaurant as well as the TV is going which is not the environment I like for dinner. Some of the waitresses on their way out to take a break we're playing a electronic game they had near the cash register and were screaming with joy repeatedly which was pretty disruptive. On the other hand the service is incredibly attentive and the food is top-notch. I would go back. One more thing they had the AC on too high and it was freezing in the restaurant. Still the food is out outstanding there.
