Fantastic ambience, service and menu. Food we chose was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks for a great meal!
The roast dinners were nice - stingy pie portions and mash though
Superb as always. Great service, good choice on the menu and beautiful food. Excellent way to spend an afternoon.
Lovely food and atmosphere to dine in. Staff were attentive and friendly, and we really enjoyed our meal. Will definitely be coming back
Absolutely love this place. The breakfast is like no other and the value for money is excellent.
Staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is ever too much to ask. Can't wait until social distancing is lifted so we can return.
The best dining experience we've ever had. Amazing food, lovely service. Experimental chef who isn't afraid to take risks.
A lovely night out to celebrate a family birthday. Wpuld recommend.
Totally wonderful in every way. We never wanted to leave. Already plotting a return trip. Have the pie!
Excellent as always
Superb food as always and great service. Every mouthful of food was a real experience and the combination of flavors worked perfectly. We enjoyed dinner on Friday so much we went back for a delicious Sunday lunch. So lucky to be near to such a great place!
Visited for breakfast and the Food was excellent but service lacking massively. We waited 20+ minutes to order despite clearly being ready. We ordered hot drinks with our order and had to ask for them as they’d been forgotten and we only received them at the end of our breakfast. No fresh glasses, bowls plates for the cold cereals, juices etc. Had to ask to be supplied with what should have already been there. Total lack of interest from staff- we weren’t asked if we needed anything and weren’t checked on at all.
We had high expectations for this meal following recommendations from friends and reviews. The pudding was the best bit however the wine and steaks were overpriced for their average flavour. It was a "nice meal" however we were hoping for an "excellent meal" as we were celebrating.
Fabulous dinning experience! Highly recommend this gem!
Absolutely wonderful evening. Fantastic food with great service. No rushing just a lovely ambience in the dining room, (as well as the pub) not too noisy not too quiet and very polite waiting on staff. Don’t waste time reading this - Just GO! - we will be again soon. Thank you
Sunday lunch was the best we’ve ever had here they have really upped their game. Can’t beat their Sunday lunch and good value too Especially liked the nut roast and the roast beef was amazing
Gorgeous food, friendly and efficient staff and a cosy atmosphere. Would highly recommend the roast lamb.
Average Sunday lunch that was relatively expensive. Was not given the option to sit downstairs and so was sat upstairs with screaming children and poor atmosphere. No gluten free Yorkshire puddings which is poor. Overall, very unimpressed.
Lovely atmosphere and great food! We will go again!
Lovely as ever, cosy and quiet. Food very good, excellent fish and chips. Only drawback - the vegan starter was way too salty. Otherwise a lovely lunch. ❤️
An excellent Sunday lunch - the best Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes I have ever eaten in a restaurant. We were there for a family birthday, and we were not disappointed in any way. The "nibbles" were absolutely delicious, and the roast pork I had was moist and succulent. The others said their roast beef was perfect. Desserts were small, but just enough after such a good main course. We will definitely be back!
Excellent food, good choice to suit all tastes. Service friendly and efficient without being over-zealous. Felt that the staff knew their way around both the menu and the wine list. Good value considering the quality of the food.
A lovely authentic period inn. Polite, helpful staff. Good menu choice and good value for money. The Sunday roasts, we had beef and pork were excellent quality.
The pork was exceptional, however the beef lacked a wow factor. All in all a lovely experience and somewhere that appeals to all ages.
Food was delicious, great vegan options, great service, wonderful venue
Really pleased to have found a Sunday venue that is this quality in the local area - really delighted we bought some friends here
Service and staff were very good
Great new(ish) menu. But the cooking of it leaves much to be desired.
The food was great if not a little bit expensive. However, I really enjoyed it so if you’re prepared to splash the cash you won’t be disappointed.
Our favourite restaurant. We are never disappointed here, great food, great service in a beautiful setting and surroundings. There were six of us who ordered different dishes and we were all delighted with our food
Had to send the food back all I could taste was salt very disappointing
Very good always enjoy visit. Unfortunately it always seems to be raining longing to be able to sit outside.
Lovely food, great service would definitely recommend; lovely restaurant loved the atmosphere
We have been to this restaurant before and have never been disappointed with a meal. Exceptional service and food we just wish it was closer to us!
Lovely setting by the river. Would recommend sitting in the main room with the fire in the winter months as can be a bit drafty by the entrance door.
Cocktails and mulled gin was very good, as were the puffed cod skins.
We had lunch and found that we should have ordered greens to accompany the pie and beef. These are quite heavy dishes.
We found the pumpkin gnocchi a bit solid with not a lot of flavour but nicely presented.
Overal a lovely place but don’t sit by the drafty entrance in the winter.
Lovely, cosy Inn with a welcoming fire blazing and a nice atmosphere, despite it being a quiet, early January Tuesday lunchtime. Friendly and efficient service and delicious food. Will definitely return at any time of year.
3rd visit, as lovely as ever. Looking forward to birthday visit in February
Very pleasant meal, obviously on the day we picked the pub was very busy which slowed things down at times. Family visiting from Norfolk were very impressed, we've been before and would certainly recommend it for 'special' meals.
Outstanding, best pub and restaurant food in Yorkshire, outstanding service that should be applauded by the owner. Real customer focus.
Been here numerous times, always a pleasure. One of the most hospitable places to enjoy a lovely meal. Be back soon...
Dropped in for a meal when bringing Granny back home after Christmas. Delicious food, cosy atmosphere and good service.
Another great meal the lobster mac and cheese with truffles was to die for. My grand daughter said her chocolate brownie was sooo scrummy
Excellent food & friendly great service. Love this place as it is located in a beautiful place as well.
