While our energetic space evokes the feel of old-world, urban India, our hope is that our modern plates and craft cocktails breathe new life into the country's diverse and flavorful cuisine. By removing some of the unfamiliarity associated with Indian food, we hope to create a fun, relaxed environment for all to enjoy!
Good outdoor dining experience. Make a reservation to ensure you get a table.
This is the BEST Indian Food in the Northeast! Definitely coming back to try more!
The food was excellent (especially the rosemary apricot naan and the goat curry) and brought out very quickly however, our server barely came to our table, never asked how we liked our food or if we wanted more drinks. It also took over a half hour from the time we asked for our check to the time it was dropped which was not ideal. I was there before Covid and had absolutely stellar service that was as excellent as the food. Hopefully next time I will have a better experience with a different server
There are only two restaurants that I will eat outside now and Sherkaan is one of them. The tables are properly spaced, paper menus, wrapped silverware, always gloves and masked servers. The food and drinks are always inventive. Rose lemonade!! Fabulous okra crisps shrimp, chicken rice. All done to perfection. Can’t wait to return.
The food was incredible. And the waitress was even better! All fresh ingredients! Already can't wait to return.
I had been wanting to go for a while but we live far away. Today coming home from a weekend away we decided to drive through New Haven. We were looking for vegetarian / vegan food and remembered Sherkaan. Given the pandemic, we haven’t eaten out much but this was the perfect experience for the moment, and would have been outside of pandemic times as well. We ate out under the pergola and the service was wonderful. Positive, attentive, discreet, and informative. We ordered a large selection of Street food dishes and chaat — too large given the generosity of the portions. Our server helpfully packaged up two of them before we even finished eating at our request. The ambiance was great — it was safe and fun. We would definitely come again to try more dishes and the extensive cocktail list. Sherkaan is a totally winner!
OMG. That Dal Makhani is really special. Breads and Chole also excellent. Cocktails are dee-lightful.
We had SUPER CoViD-careful service when we dined July 2nd. Much appreciated the care and attention to detail (single use menus, gloves and masks, tables sprayed and wiped after each dining group, plenty of pleasant outside seating.)
The cardamom ice cream dessert with salted caramel was awfully good, and we'll try the chocolate dosa next time. . . Not cheap, but very good value for the money. Highly recommend.
Perfect outdoor dining for these pandemic times. Delicious food.
My Bf is a chef and he was blown away by the taste and how full of flavor each dish was. Everything was phenomenal!
Great food, great staff, overall amazing experience and would definitely return.
The food was amazing! Very nice aesthetic and great taste. We came for the cocktails because the bartender is the best we’ve found in CT so far (used to craft cocktails in NY which are hard to find in CT) and they did not disappoint! Cocktails were beautiful and tasty. Can’t wait to come back!
The food was very tasty and varied flavors and textures. The service was good, with proper attention to social distancing and masking the waitstaff. Eating outside was a pleasure.
Awesome Indian food in a perfect spot. Enjoy your outdoor eating here - it’s a summertime MUST!
Great experience can’t wait to go back
The only complaint I have is that the seats were wet from the rain, and we had to ask for something to dry off the chairs with. I felt like that should be something the staff already looks out for. Other than that, I had an amazing experience! I would still definitely recommend! I'll go again.
The BEST restaurant in all New Haven! The spices and flavors are bold and brilliant, and the cocktails are beautifully balanced and carefully crafted. Do not miss out on this gem!
Always a wonderful experience dining at Sheerkan.
We love this place! Highly recommend. Especially enjoyed the kachumbar salad and the chaat dog. Great for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike.
Great food, creative menu, love the servers and atmosphere.
Eclectic menu was interesting and food was flavorful. Hard to determine how much to order because of huge variation in portion sizes even in the same menu category/section.
Lovely spot, great atmosphere coupled with an elegant thoughtful and flavorful menu. Casual yet intimate with attentive service, highly recommend.
Simply awesome - everything we ate was amazing, and the cocktails are to die for. We’ll be back!
Over all good experience food could be better as most of the things were blend and not as per real Indian food. The ambiance and decor was very good. Service was outstanding. Overall it was good but could be better
We were greeted nicely and our table was nearly ready. I feel as though we should have had a table not near the door since we made a reservation.
We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. We ordered 3 appetizers and a meal to share and everything came out at once and very quickly. We were overwhelmed with how fast everything came out and were confused to why it all came out at once. We were scrambling to make room at the table. Because of this we were rushed and we didn’t have time to talk before our food came out. The food runner seemed to throw the food on the table and not bother to ask us if everything was OK, because it wasn’t. We needed side plates and we didn’t have any.
When we did order our food the server explained to us that the pickles on the menu are not typical pickles made with vinegar. My husband and I love trying new things and we wanted to order three of the pickles. Your server discouraged us from doing that, and also failed to mention that the reason why the pickles are different is because they are a purée. We only ordered one, but in the end that was our favorite part of the meal. We wish we had two more.
We will be back again, but we will have to modify how we order our food, one at a time. I will make a reservation and ask not to be seated near the door. And I hope the food runner is a little bit more friendly when she drops off the food.
Huge plus though, I do not drink alcohol and I was very pleased to see a non-alcoholic menu!
Great place. Very well run. Can’t wait to return.
The food was not served hot; and lacked flavor; their push towards fusion was not good at all.
Hello, We appreciate your feedback on your dining experience. Just curious, did you mean hot as in spicy or temperature? We have found many people asking for less spice in our dishes, but it is always possible to request more! In the future just let your server know you are looking for more heat and the kitchen will be happy to accommodate you.
Great food . I always go back for the vada pav sliders and the drinks. The staff is friendly and I like the rustic Indian atmosphere
This was a terrific find, recommended by a New Haven resident who knows the area restaurants like the back of his hand. Excellent menu options; very eclectic and interesting decor; quick service; outstanding food prep - and amazingly low prices for such quality!
Hi Kim, Thank you for your great review! We look forward to seeing you again. -Sherkaan
Everything was great!
I had really hoped for the best but found the food very bland. Had 4 small plates, a salad and 3 larger sharing plates.
We had a reservation & were warmly greeted . We were escorted to our seat & within 2 minutes the waiter was asking for drink needs & telling us about the menu. We threw caution to the wind & ordered a variety of meats, sauces & flavors. The cocktails were wonderfully presented & tasted the same. Our food arrived quickly & our hands couldn’t stop dipping in sauces that were so layered & flavored.we all left full, satisfied & happy. Cannot wait to return.
Great food, great location, great decor. Very helpful wait staff. Had Samosa, Bad Spud Frankie Roll, Dum Biryani, Dahi Puri, Bhel Puri. Lovd it!
The food at Sherkaan is inventive, playful, and delicious. As someone with celiac disease, I appreciate the care they take to make my meal safe and enjoyable. I also love that they often have a dedicated fryer, so I can usually eat their delicious fried food!
Great food! We loved everything we ordered. Drinks are different and great. And the food is on another level.
Great lunch with my family thanksgiving weekend! Food was freshly prepared and wonderfully flavorful.
Terrific food! Good service, fun atmosphere. My new favorite spot!
