Shelbourne Social by Dylan McGrath
Visited The Shelbourne Social with The Taste Brunch voucher. Maitre d' had awful customer service. We were ignored firstly, restaurant was very quiet, then when he did come to us no eye contact asked for my name then said do you have your voucher without even looking up so this was a bad start. Waiters that served were pleasant but as someone who is meant to be in charge the maitre d' customer service was abysmal and it felt like you were treated differently by having a voucher. Food was nice, starter was mediocre, good cheeseburger for main and the whiskey sours very tasty. I would not recommend or attend again.
Delicious food & lovely friendly service & atmosphere
Delicious food - we had a set menu and every course was outstanding. The service was extremely good, very friendly people.
Great meal and amazing cocktails would definitely go back little bit in the pricy side but well worth it had the stake as was unbelievable my friends had the burger looked unreal bar man was nice and made as a few cocktails not in the menus desert was amazing had the honeycomb icream over alll great night had so thanks Shelbourne Soical 👌👊🍹🍸🔥🔥
Love the place! Well done. Vodka martinis, delish wines great food lovely staff especially the tall dude in the smart suit
I was in the Shelbourne Social for a work lunch and upon arrival we found the decor to be beautiful, plush and comfortable. The service was less then I expected considering the price points, the wait staff seemed understaffed and it was hard to get their attention. I ordered a pork rib sandwich with avocado but there was no avocado on my sandwich and I gave up trying to get the attention of the waiter and just ate it as we were on a time constraint. My pregnant colleague ordered a burger well done and it arrived medium well, so we just swapped it amongst ourselves as she cannot eat under cooked meat in her condition. Another colleague had ordered chips on the side and they never arrived and we managed to get the attention of the waiter to say this and he went off to get them and they still never came. We asked for the bill and the chips were on the bill so we let a different waiter know and it was rectified. The food was beautiful, really high standard it was more the wait staff and apparent disorganization I found disappointing. I would definitely give it a chance again as I hope it was a one off experience and the standard is usually much higher.
Good value for the early bird menu . The food presented well and was very tasty . However , when staff offer side orders , they should also advice the customer about the additional cost for any side orders.
The Service was terrible from the lunch staff especially the man who appeared to be the host who ignored myself and one of the people accompanying me were left standing for atleast a minute while he fixed menus and pretend we were not there. He then didn't take a drinks order untill we asked could we asked. My steak then came out well overcooked. There was a noticable change between lunch and dinner service as the staff were much more pleasant and attentive. As it was my graduation from college I had been looking forward to this meal for a long time and was very let down.
From the moment we went to the bar upstairs until the moment we left the restaurant almost 5 hours later the experience was flawless! The wait staff were attentive without being too over the top and the food was simply divine! The best dining experience I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back and recommend to everyone I meet!
The waiters really made the experience that bit extra. Couldnt do enough for us and went over and above. Made my birthday special with a happy birthday plate. Food was delicious. Would definitely recommend
Becoming a regular - Dublin's best Sunday Brunch in opulent surroundings .
Very good as always
I dined in your restaurant on Friday night and while the food was quite nice, the general atmosphere of the evening was spoiled by a few things.
Firstly, when I booked the dinner for Valentine’s Day you had advertised online that a vegetarian menu would be on offer, however upon arrival it had been scored out and no longer an option. Your female front of house was quite abrupt and rude when I questioned this. I understand there were vegetarian dishes on the full menu, but no choice was provided, merely one dish per course that any vegetarian had to take.
Secondly, the menu stated that a cheesy mash was to be provided as a side with the mains, however we were presented with fries. Again when I questioned this, one female waitress simply stated that you had run out of the mash. Common courtesy would have been to inform us of the change and ask if we had a preference on a side, as fries were not what we ordered. Having explained that we did not want the fries another waitress offered us a different side of broccoli...which we were then charged for!
While the food that I myself consumed was very tasty the general hosting of the evening was poor. I will say that your male front of house was incredibly personable and very accommodating throughout the night having recognized the restrictions regarding my partner’s vegetarian options, or lack thereof.
While I understand that valentines night is an incredibly busy occasion for any restaurant, these issues could have been avoided with clearer lines of communication between staff and customer. For the price of the set menu for the evening, I would have expected better having dined in all of your other establishments.
Interior design is amazing and the service was very good! Music was a little loud for our taste- but I guess thats a personal feeling. Regarding the food itself, reputation seems to be ahead of what you actually get. For 65€ for a Valentines menue, we would have expected flawless food and drinks. The food was very good but not worth 65€ per person. The fish we had was somewhat overcooked which cannot happen at this price level. All in all we had a nice time!
Love this spot. The staff are brilliant and atmosphere is buzzy. Although it's not cheap, the food was super and we had a fabulous time (as we have every time we come here). Thank you so much!
This was my second time @ Shelbourne Social. Each time it was on a Saturday before. Rugby match. The menu had changed considerably. On this occasion it was a 3 course meal for €40, which I thought was a bit steep in price. We booked for 12.30, allowing ourselves an hour & 45 minutes to kick off. Unfortunately we were unable to have the third course, the desert, due to time constraints. The staff were very friendly & attentive. The food was superb. Couldn’t have asked for nicer. It’s just a pity it couldn’t have come a little quicker or perhaps we should have allowed ourselves a bit more time. Anyway, I would definitely return. Excellent quality.
It was a nice experience, not the first time there, food was great.
Poor food offering. Uninteresting
We attended The Shelbourne Social on Wednesday 5th February 2020 with a voucher from Taste.ie. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and attentive. The food and drink was outstanding and we were not rushed off our table despite the staff prepping for the night time rush,... they couldn’t do enough for us. The music and atmosphere were just what we needed for a nice relaxing afternoon With a delicious bottle of wine and cocktails. Credit to the staff, fantastic venue and will definitely return and recommend to friends and family :0)
Good food and ambience, excellent service provided by the staff
Great value. Lovely food
Great choice of food, quality was really good, and great value
Food was excellent as always and there was a great atmosphere.
Amazing! Staff are extremely professional, food was incredible, and cocktails to match. Highly recommended, buzzy atmosphere. . ,
Staff go out of their way to be helpful as I have for medical reasons difficult dietary requirements. Always present delicious alternatives. Always a lovely warm welcome. One of my husbands & my favourite restaurants.
We had no waiter assigned to our table so it was a bit hit and miss with getting water and a drink initially as I had to call someone over which should not have been the case..it wasn’t overly busy so no excuse really but everyone was very nice and friendly..the food was lovely especially the steak tartare for the starter, and chips were yummy..over all it was nice but I am not sure if I would run back to it again as quite expensive and you would go for a special occasion.
Great Nee Years Eve dinner.
We went to Shelbourne social for new years night. The bar upstairs was quiet and very pleasant. The restaurant was at normsl busy levels, and the food overall was good.
My only note was in relationship to their burger. I was asked how I want it done and I advised medium to well done, when arrived the mince was practically raw inside. When pointed out I was advised that because their patti is thick medium to well done would be very pink inside. This was not explained at the start at the point of order and needs be!
I did not eat it, and we got free deserts, which is fine.
Went for dinner on new year’s eve. We loved the food: all the starters and main courses were just amazing. The desserts were not up to that excellent standard ( the vegan chocolate cake was particularly not good in my opinion).
Espresso was not great either but that’s just being a bit picky.
The service was bubbly and warm, we really enjoyed our time there.
I will definitely go back!
Great atmosphere and service.. Food was lovely but overpriced.. Will go back again for special occasions.
Fabulous restaurant and will definitely be returning! Georgio served us and he was so knowledgeable and friendly. Food and service 10/10
Service, atmosphere and food all really good. Would definitely go again.
Xmas dinner with a friend
3rd time there and this Saturday (Dec 14) was very very poor. Staff not trained and attitude very poor. Food was good but service that bad we would not go again. Kenny
The food was gorgeous, would highly recommend . Oysters was top class
Staff are amazing very nice , great with our two kids 6 & 4 years old ,helpful picking there food .
Food is heavy , the breads served with egg ..2.5 ? Cucumber dish served in a rich dressing i would prefer to dip rather than served coated. Fabulous cocktails and lovely wine list
Service was very good and the restaurant is very nice but there wasn't many options on the menu and the food was over priced.
The menu is a mess. The entire lunch was rushed, we were served our main course 30 seconds after we finished our starters (which were basic and you're meant to share!). The beef on the bone doesn't come on the bone and was already sliced and drowned in sauce, it could have been anything. We were served dessert without asking for it and when we wanted cheese. It wasn't because they were busy as there was only 1 other table.
We were sat in the area with the lower ceiling and it was difficult to hear each other at times. Food was lovely - however, the portions of the starters were inconsistent as they were for sharing - four starters were too much but it was included in the price - should work that better!
