Food is outstanding - so so good! Fresh pasta, tasty burrata appetizer, and delicious hazelnut chocolate cake. Plus they brought a dish of soft serve custard for my companion’s birthday. Request a table in the back dining room if you want quiet — it was really nice to actually be able to hear the conversation during dinner while at a busy downtown restaurant.

Sfoglina creates the best pasta dishes in town. The complex brown sauce on its lamb short ribs elicited praise from the three in our party who chose it.

The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed. We got the pasta tasting, which is a nice option. The cacio e pepe was really good. The calamari appetizer was great as well.

We loved the spirit of Sfoglina - we were welcomed and the wait staff was very friendly and responsive. Our favorite dish was the squid ink pasta with lobster, but everything was very good.

Wonderful dinner! One piece of advice is it's not a great destination for picky eaters. I normally think Italian is safe for taking my picky friends, but my dining companion did not find anything but dessert to her liking. This is more of a personal problem -- the food was wonderful if you're open to more things -- but check the menu before you go if there will be a picky eater in tow.

Had dinner on a Saturday night. The ambiance was fantastic and food and portion sizes were perfect. Staff was attentive and efficient. Kept the meal moving but not rushed, table clean and glasses full.

Celebrated my birthday. Had a wonderful time. The waiters were spectacular. Gave us Prosecco and gave me a birthday dessert with a signed card from the chefs. Food, wine and noise level all were great. Seating was a little cramped at first, but once settled in it was fine.

This is a perfect place to dine with friends on a special occasion. Everything was perfect- -the delicious food we could share family style, the ambiance and decor, the booth for 6 with a round table, the concern of the manager and staff and perfect service by David H. He advised without pushing, was knowledgeable and generous. Even other diners around us were friendly. E are and drank what we wanted and averaged ~$50 pp. + a generous tip.

The NYE special pasta with seafood was exceptional, as was the veal from the regular menu. All the food was authentic from different parts of Italy.

We let our engaged and engaging server select wine by the glass. The $24 red was not as good as lesser Sangiovese. The only disappointment was that blood orange/vanilla soft swirl gelato dessert was fine to share but the orange gelato similar to what you can buy in a supermarket.

Tables are close together but you’re not in your neighbors’ conversation.

The pastas are all excellent. Sharing three with a glass of wine or two with the veal would be an excellent, good-value dinner.

The trio of pastas were the finest outside of Rome. And the service impeccable...our waiter was always there at the right time. It will be our New Years Eve day tradition from now on.

The group was family and friends, coming from Italy, California, and Arlington...restaurant was chosen by the person in Arlington,
from previous dining experience. Great service, which was much
appreciated. One person is president of Matson in SF, her pasta was NOT good, and it was taken off the bill. Still, a good choice
of restaurant to meet and eat.

Modest portions for the price. Wine list is short and pricey for the offering. Our server did a nice job. My wife’s veal was very good. My swordfish was dense and good as well but very modest, maybe 5 ounces.

The restaurant is really nice. We had reservations and were seated right away. It was nice to be asked if we had allergies or dietary restrictions. We started with the burrata and cucumber salad. The burrata was complemented very well with yellow and red beets. The cucumber salad had an interesting ranch style dressing. We had various pastas. Ended up tasting a bit from everyone’s plate. The Ravioli with goat cheese was my favorite. My son loved his cacio e pepe. There was nothing wrong with the pappardelle with chestnuts and truffles but I felt it was overrated. The portions were just right. All in all, a pleasant evening. Surprisingly, very quick service, too.

cocktails were remarkably good and impeccably prepared, whether the old classics such as the Boulevardier or newer cocktails I had never heard of. food was top notch, not pretentious, but obviously prepared with care and respect for classic Italian dishes. Service was excellent, and well-paced.

Best service of the year. Food, mediocre. Wine good. All in all, if it weren't for central DC expectations on price point, this would be an overpriced, marginal meal experience. PS, the soup was terrific.

We went for Christmas Eve so it was expected to be very busy. Hostess was not friendly and created more confusion than order. The bar was not keeping up and took very long time to server drinks. While sitting at the bar as well as on the table.
Service at the table was friendly but rushed, of course, and with it came mistakes.
The food itself was good, even though our kid did not like their interpretation of a carbonara (a sunny side up egg on top of few rigatoni/cannelloni). The pappardelle were at times stuck together, which is not nice if you have a delicate truffle dish. Speaking of the truffle, they sliced it at the table on the pasta while keep weighing it on a little scale they brought along. Not sure whether that was supposed to proof something or make it appear more exclusive. It was just silly and not appealing.
The noise was ok for a holiday.

Food was really good and the serving portions were perfect.

We got the small private room so it was perfect for a large group and very nice for conversation.

Loved the pasta sampling portions to share. Fish was also really good. Would love to eat at restaurant again.

Thank you very nice evening and birthday celebration.

Pastas are the stars here. We had the three-pasta tasting, which gave the two of us a full meal. Best of the three was a daily special (lamb ragu) but all were tasty. They also have a nice Amarone by the glass – not cheap ($24) but delicious. The bottle is about the price of four glasses.
