Seven Stars Inn
The Seven Stars Inn is the original Chester County steakhouse. We may be new to OpenTable, but we have been wowing our guests for over 275 years by featuring overly generous portions of the finest beef, veal and seafood served in a gracious white table cloth atmosphere. Legend has it that the Inn even served President George Washington himself in this very same historic building set in scenic Chester County.
The cocktail lounge is warm and inviting, and the well thought out wine list includes a broad spectrum of varietals and geographic origins.
Family friendly, the Seven Stars has not only a great Children’s Menu but also a Young Adult’s Menu. Both of these menus scale down the size of the serving and price of their offerings to help mom and dad afford an evening out with the whole family.
All major credit cards are welcomed.
We had dined at the Seven Stars Inn a number of times before they changed ownership. The previous owners were relatives of a friend and that’s how we first learned about them and their fabled Prime Rib. We wanted to dine by ourselves before taking any of our family or friends since the change, to make sure this was still a restaurant we would recommend. The answer is a resounding Yes! We were promptly seated and our waitress, Brooke, took our wine orders and brought warm bread. While they do not have very many wines available by the glass, we were able to find two to our liking, as my wife drinks Chardonnay and I opted for a Baby Amorone. She provided just the right amount of time to let us look things over, and asked if we had any questions regarding the menu. I started with the Snapper Soup, served with Sherry. I was warned that the bowl was very hot. It was and the soup was delicious. Our entrees consisted of the Chilean Sea Bass for my wife and the Prime Rib for me. The portions of both meals were enormous. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. We ended our meal with Limoncello and Cappuccino. Brooke’s timing was excellent. She was discrete but readily available and checked to see if we needed anything or to have plates removed throughout our meal. Of course she brought take home boxes at the end. Our verdict is that the Seven Stars Inn is a superb, first class dining experience. We will return.
Everything about this place was fantastic. The only minor drawback was it took about 15 minutes after getting seated and filling our waters for anyone to acknowledge us. We had to snag a server ourselves. Once we did, she (Jade<333) took wonderful care of our table. The food was excellent and the Cabernet she recommended was one of the best wine's I've ever had. When our entrees came out, everyone's steak was overcooked. Jade rectified this quickly and had new steaks brought out to us so fast. The meal and ambiance were perfect for the celebration we had.
The clam chowder was not as good as the shore ( previous night). Not bad but small chunks of potato, etc. especially for the price.
My surf and turf was burnt. Ordered it medium. My one lobster was ok. The second was chewy and hard. Not what I remembered from 7 stars. The other dinner shrimp stuffed with crab was delicious. So I’m not sure what happened but for $195 dollar bill. Will not be going back anytime soon.
Overall we had a wonderful time.
always a great meal everything was outstanding portions are plentiful can not wait to go back.
It was a fantastic experience. Food, service and ambiance were all first class. They weren’t kidding about the “large portions” either!
Mad o menus
Could probably do without the package crackers and cheese. Bread was super stale. Caesar salad had an amazing dressing and fresh cheese but wilted dirty Romain. King cut fillet medium, dry and tasteless.Crab imperial and sides were average. If you’re not going for the massive prime rib ... don’t go. Service was phenomenal as always. And that’s the only thing that’ll bring me back..
Even though we have lived in the area (within 30 minute drive of the restaurant), we have never tried the Seven Stars Inn - what a treat we were missing! My husband and I decided to try it, and really enjoyed our time there. It is a historic location, dating back to pre-Revolutionary war times, is decorated nicely and has lots of character to the many different rooms. Our waitress told us they are known for their generous portions, and she wasn't kidding! We both started with the jumbo lump crabmeat cocktail - immensely generous serving of fresh crab. For dinner, I ordered the prime rib - melt-in-your mouth tender and could only finish barely half of the portion. My husband ordered the King filet - largest filet mignon we have ever seen! Needless to say, we had delicious leftovers to bring home. Service was friendly and attentive. I got the feeling that many of the waitstaff have been working there for years.
Absolutely a great place for celebrations/special occasions. We will be bringing our entire family back. So glad we decided to try the Inn!
I only say noise level is moderate because the folks next to us were loud talking, had voices that really carry; otherwise, it would have been much quieter. Can't wait to go back!
Excellent in every way! Would definitely recommend it.
Returning to the old Inn in food and service.
Great new find.
Too expensive for the quality of food you get.
While it was a nice meal, it did not live up to my expectations. The Queen filet was OK, very tender but not especially flavorful. The Bernaise sauce was also just OK, a little thick and it could have had a bit more tarragon and butter. The strip steak was better, but was it worth the cost? Perhaps I should have gone with the Prime Rib, but not sure I want to go back to possibly be disappointed. Maybe it was their limited menu for Easter, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt.
Our experience at the Sever Stars Inn this time was not good. We had a reservation for 2:30 on 4/4/2021 (Easter Sunday). We were seated at our table which was against the wall on the 2nd floor. The tables all around us were empty. The waitress came and took our drink order and informed us that due to the holiday and having over 200 reservations they were using a smaller menu which did not include all of their regular items. We ordered (2) glasses of wine and requested ice on the side. She came back with the wine (no ice). Asked if we were ready to order. We ordered our appetizer and meals. I again requested ice for our wine (never received the ice). While we were waiting for our salad the young lady that was seating the guests went to seat a party of (3) at a table about 10 feet away from us, the party did not like the table and requested the table directly behind us. The seats were much closer than the allowable 6’ of social distancing but the young lady sat them there. We received our salads and were in the process of eating them when a server came with my meal, since I was not finished my salad I requested she take my dinner back so I could enjoy my salad. The table was seating for (2) so there was absolutely no space on the table for another plate. We finished our salads and our meals where delivered to our table. When we were finished eating we requested to go boxes for our leftovers. I boxed up my husbands leftovers first and the server came back to take his plate and before I could box up my leftovers he was trying to take my plate. I explained that I still needed to box up my leftovers. I boxed up my meal and we paid the check. This is a shame because we had such a great experience when we were there in August. However this time we were very rushed.
It was amazing love this place
Food and server were excellent, only issue is that the salad came out at the same time as the meal, leaving very little room on the table. Felt a little rushed from that point on trying to eat and clear plates at the same time.
Seven stars has a new owner that took over 2 years ago. We know something was different. Quality sure went down. We were celebrating our Anniversary and no one mentioned it to us at all. Very disappointed. I did not like my dish and the waitress and manager were speechless when I told them. I’m guessing that doesn’t happen often it was very dry and bland. They did replace it with something different. Came out in no time. If something is market price are we supposed to ask how much the item is or should the waitress just tell us?
Food was delicious, as expected. The drinks were great. I recommend the limoncello martini. I wish we had room for dessert because there were so many appealing options. Our server Vicky was great. Any time we needed anything, she noticed before we even thought to ask. This truly is a fine dining experience, and you totally get what you pay for here. We will definitely be back for another date night. We left full and happy.
Food was very good, for the price the portions were small but very good.
+had hard time on steps .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great value for the amount of food you get. The atmosphere is quiet and had no problem hearing conversation. Always have pleasant servers.
Very good to see that they have survived this plague.
It is very much as it was. Thanks
I have been to the Seven Stars Inn before, but a friend of mine who was celebrating a birthday had not, so what better way to celebrate than dinner at the Seven Stars Inn. The look on her face when they brought out the Prime Rib was priceless! The food was amazing as always and our server Terry was so much fun and recommended some great drinks such as their homemade Limoncello Martini! Their reputation of big portions is well deserved and if you have never been, than put it on your bucket list! You will not be disappointed!
Celebrated my husband's birthday on a Thursday night. Safe distances were kept between us and other guests. All the wait staff wore masks. Food was excellent (as always) and we truly enjoyed our meal. The prices are steep but the food quality and quantity were worth it.
Excellent as always. Have been there many times over the last 40 years and have never been disappointed.
Birthday. Nothing mentioned even though was documented in the reservation.
Our reservation was for 715p. They sat us. Took 30 min for a waitress to come to the table, she was not pleasant at all. Very rude. She got us our drinks & took order. Another half hour for our salads. Then an hour and 15 min for our actual food so at that point we were there 2 hrs. I ordered filet mignon medium well, it came out RAW, bright RED IN THE MIDDLE, not even hot. At that point, we left. We have been there many times & will never EVER GO BACK. They did take our raw meal off.
Dinner was absolutely delicious. From the bacon-wrapped scallops, to the twin stuffed lobster tails, to the best prime rib we have ever had. Portions are crazy...we are still eating leftovers!
Service was outstanding. Our server was Teresa. Very attentive and very hard worker!
Will definitely be returning in the near future.
very disappointed the last 3 times we were there. Quanitity and quality of the food is nowhere near what is used to be. Waitress pleasant. Service slow. Food sad to say was mediocre at best for the prices charged. Always enjoyed going there but not lately, things have changed sorry to say.
Very nice place
We went for dinner Saturday night to celebrate my mother's birthday. We asked if they would sing but they declined. Other than that, the food was delicious and the overall experience was wonderful as usual.
The meals are large. Very good food. Get the prime rib or the very large lobster tail. You won’t go wrong with anything that you choose.
If your looking for great food and portions this is your place..I will definitely be coming back
Had an excellent meal with my family. Trudi is the best bartender!! Perfect dirty martinis & excellent wine recommendation. Mike & the crew are awesome in the kitchen. Dinner was delicious, as always!! We enjoyed the crabmeat cocktail, bacon-wrapped scallops, sea bass, potatoes au gratin. It's always a fun time with great food!
I loved it as usual. The staff are always so nice, the food was so good. I love this place.
Fantastic it was our first time there.
Overpriced. Inn seems to be very run-down. Server was great. Food was okay.
In over 20 years of dining there, they never disappoint. This is one of our go-to for special occasions or date nights. It is so nice to still see Irene hostessing there. They have adjusted their portions down to normal human sizes, well almost-we never leave hungry anyway.
They did a very nice job maintaining the expectations the level of service we have come to expect and the ambiance during COVID. Prices did increase some, but its to be expected and when you are getting the quality of food and service at a local historic landmark-its easy to accept..
