The wait staff wasn’t too on the ball but the food made up for it- the food was excellent!! We’ll be back!
There are 6 tables next to a bar. Way to expensive for a hole in the wall. Would not go back nor will I recommend the place
How disappointing! After reading a review in Newsday, I was anxious to try this restaurant. A friend and I decided to have a Saturday lunch. When we arrived at 12:30, the place was totally empty. A pleasant young man took our orders. I had the chicken club sandwich and my friend the house burger. Both came with fries. The flavors of the chicken club were good, but the chicken was much too thick and very dry. The bread was barely toasted soft white that had a hard time holding the sandwich together, and became wet and mushy from the sliced tomato and aioli. My friend's burger was fine, just nothing special. The fries were obviously homemade, but very greasy and not crisp. For dessert, there were only three choices: chocolate mousse, flan and gelato. My friend ordered the mousse and described it as tasty but somewhat gritty. I ordered the flan, which I didn't get because "something was wrong in the kitchen." I ordered a coffee instead. A party of 4 arrived during our meal, but that was it.
And now that name which has to be the worse restaurant name EVER! To make matters worse, the owner has removed all references in the decor to early aviation on LI which was his inspiration in the first place.
I am terribly sorry you had a sub par experience, although a lengthy public flaming that is mean spirited, and frankly personal is completely unnecessary. I could have been contacted and fully reimbursed you for your dissatisfaction rather a diatribe over a sandwich. Your review doesn't pay my staff, vendors or bills. What do you think it would accomplish? You don't have to insult the decor, name of the establishment or point out the shift was a bit quiet. Please, never, EVER come back!
Great local place. Delicious food, freshly prepared. My only complaint is that the dinner menu is a bit limited.
This was our third time at this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Great menu and service and, as an added bonus they had on great music : Sade, Les Nubians, etc. Perfect evening for a date and there were tables with larger groups that all seemed to be having a great time. Highly recommend.
Booths are very uncomfortable
Food not served at right temperature
Our first time… It was quite enjoyable. The place is so clean and welcoming. We loved our lunch
Food was outstanding , enjoyed the octopus and another member of the party enjoyed the salmon; I sincerely recommend.
First visit to this restaurant. Went for Restaurant Week, so of course it was excellent value. But the food was wonderful, service warm and friendly, and they've got an excellent, extremely well thought out wine list. We were so impressed with the quality of the food and general experience in this tiny restaurant that we absolutely intend to return.
Squash soup and Branzini were delicious. Dessert of warm bread pudding with gelato was fantastic! Excellent and very friendly service!
Awesome place with a great owner/chef and delicious food!
Lovely addition to the Port Washington dining scene- food is yummy and service is friendly & super attentive. New menu is diverse and fresh- just great!
I think after they get over the newly opened bumps it could be quite good. The pate was very good and I liked that most dishes were not over seasoned (possibly slightly under).
Delicious meal with great service- a gem in port Washington. We will definitely be back. Especially nice for a weeknight dinner out. (Btw, the menu on open table is out of date, new menu more interesting and less expensive.)
Just didn't love it! Wish the menu had more and the service was better.
Restaurant is out of business. Showed up and if was closed
Restaurant was closed! Update your data opentabke!!
Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff. Very pricey for the portions. I had the salmon which was cooked beautifully and tasted delicious but was small. It came with a side of sliced potatoes and some kind of tomato onion cilantro fresh salsa. There were literally three slices of a Yukon gold potato. I would not go back.
Was disappointed. Portions tiny and prices high.
When my wife received a dish congaing tomatoes (which she is allergic to) she asked the waiter if it could e modified and was told no-so I ate it. No replacement was offered.
Was in summary excited to try it but was disappointed
Could not get a reservation before 7:30 on open table. We walked into the restaurant and there were 2 people there.
We came here for our anniversary. We just moved to Port Washington and heard about the restaurant from a friend. The service, atmosphere, and food were great! We are happy that we chose Secrets of Flight to celebrate our anniversary. We are looking forward to coming back again!
Loved Secrets of Flight. It is a great little cozy spot in Port Washington perfect for a romantic dinner, dinner with friends or pre theater for a Landmark on Main Street concert. Service was friendly, attentive and professional. Wine list was excellent and paired well with our meals. Short ribs were tender and delicious and the branzini was as well. The shrimp boulibaisse and the beet salad were great too. Definitely will be returning.
We very much enjoyed our time at Secrets of Flight. Food, drinks - it was all delicious. Shrimp Bouillabaisse and Short Ribs - outstanding!
We had a wonderful experience as this was our first time at the restuarant. Shared grilled octopus and a beet salad; for entrees we had the vegetable cassoulet and roasted chicken. Finished with a chocolate tart. For wine we enjoyed a nice bottle of St. Emilion. My only knock on the food was that my chicken was a little under-cooked.
We will be back for sure!
Secrets of Flight is a cozy new spot with a limited but well prepared menu. The ingredients were fresh and of high quality. Salmon and bronzino both sampled at our table were excellent. Service was uneven and some lighter appetizer options would be appreciated.
I ordered a Woodford bourbon double neat.
They charged $24 for the drink. The entire bottle cost less than double that. I felt this was very expensive and over priced. Food and service was good.
Service-attentive but not overbearing
Food-delicious With a constantly changing menu, we are anxious to return
Ambiance- attractive, artsy feel.
Well worth a visit.
Great new addition to Port Washington! Food was delicious. we had the short ribs and branzino as main dishes and there were lots of interesting options for next time. Service was knowledgeable about the food, cocktails and wines and very attentive during the meal. lively atmosphere from the bar, music, lighting, and artistic decor yet still easy to hold conversation at the table. A great choice for everyday or special occasion dining. Will definitely be back again soon!
Great food and ambiance. Welcome addition to Port Washington
This was our second time there and the food was as delicious and fresh as the first time. Alex, who is the chef and owner, is hardworking and congenial. Waitstaff is knowledgeable and pleasant. So happy to support local business and talent.
When we got there for 6 o’clock reservation they were taking pictures of food right next to a table in the very bright light was flashing in my eyes for almost the whole meal. Then someone was taking pictures of us for Newsday and did not ask permission for us to be in the pictures I was not happy about that ..
Great food, service, and energy in the room.
Excellent food, service, menu is a bit different but forced me to try things I normally wouldn’t choose, all of which was very good.
I saw the comments about this restaurant on Facebook and had to see for myself. I can say, I have not been happy with restaurants in Port Washington until I came here. FINALLY something that is great! Love the decor, the wait staff, the food, service, and the owner! The owner put his heart and soul in the place and it shows!
Tasty! I sat next to window/door so it was a little chilly for me. Overall a very pleasant experience! Would def recommend.
Very nice upscale casual restaurant. The food was very good although maybe could have a few more choices on the menu. I would not hesitate to go back.
great restaurant in town. Food is top notch. The owner and staff and super nice and passionate about the restaurant.
We want this place to succeed as the vibe and ambiance and ambition are so great....the owner needs some expertise in the kitchen...he is trying so hard ...food a tad overdone ? Just needs tweaking to improve
Delicious meal from start to finish. Chef is passionate and dedicated to excellence. Hope to be a regular!
Chef/owner, Alex, has created a gem of a restaurant here on Main Street. I went three times in the past two weeks and found the food was consistently outstanding. Small plates offerings including the pate and shrimp bouillabaisse were great starters. The lamb shank and the sword fish are wonderful.
