Came for dinner during Harvest Fest. The menu was a bit misleading, as it implied you got a burger and a salad. However, it was either a burger OR a salad. The burger was tasty, but it was much smaller than a normal restaurant burger (think Macdonald's size) and it did not come with any side. The pierogi appetizer was tasty but extremely salty, and the chocolate pudding for dessert was mediocre and again, quite small even though it was intended for 2. Overall, Harvest fest menu was less than impressive but service was good. I would not come back for dinner, but might return for an after work drink since Say Uncle is in a convenient downtown location.
They need to reassess their staffing requirements during busy times. I sympathised with the 2 waitresses they had on who were trying their best to stay upbeat. We got there before the rush, so had (somewhat) prompt service initially, but as soon as more people started to come in they didn't have enough staff on to serve everyone. We got our first drink order in, then sat with empty drinks for an extended period of time before I went up to bar to order my own drinks. Only after we were halfway finished these second drinks did the waitress come by (she had to be flagged down) to get our food order. I also witnessed multiple people come in, sit down, and leave after no one acknowledging them for 15+ minutes.
It was also freezing in the restaurant and each time the door opened a blast of cold air would come in. It's a shame they don't have secondary doors, I can't imagine they can keep it warm in the middle of winter.
The beer was good and food was just ok.
It was a treat to have such lovely food in such a casual enviroment. There was a blip up with my open table reso but they were able to accommodate us. The menu doesn’t have too many options, but all the options looks fabulous. Prices can’t be beat. $10 for an entree.
Having had a great brunch experience here previously, I had pretty high hopes for lunch with some colleagues. We found the menu to be quite odd & awkward, with few choices that appealed to us as a group. Their Green Goddess salads were ok....overly dill-y but the salmon was nicely prepared. My grilled cheese was disappointing - small, not very cheesy & with no side-dishes on offer without an extra charge. We all agreed that we would not return to this new neighbourhood spot for lunch.
