no memorable dishes maybe the artichokes but even those were little heavy on the liquid smoke taco ice cream dessert was so hard it shot off the plate when trying to cut into it
Absolutely fantastic experience. Food and service were both outstanding
Absolutely my new favorite restaurant in Seattle. If you go there, make sure to order the pork belly steam buns. They are the best I've ever had. And if you are in a group that shares meals, I'd recommend trying a bunch of items off the menu and splitting them with the group!
I LOVE IT HERE! This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. Highly recommend!
I went with a group of eight friends for a birthday celebration and it exceeded all expectations. Our server was so knowledgeable and made the evening a lot of fun. The space was great and the food was delicious. We did a sampling of most of the dishes for that table and loved it all!
Erin our primary server ROCKED the house!! Food was delectable. All the dishes we ate had different flavor profiles, ranging from the pork belly buns with the fresh crisp flavors of vietnam to the pan seared scallops with fall harvest essence. Do yourselves a favor and eat here!
The sauces are outstanding. They need to serve bread so one can savor every last drop (or at least provide straws).
Overall, it was good. Some of the dishes were outstanding but due to my allergies, I couldn’t try many. Not good for GF people. Only few dishes were edible for non-people.
The food quality is amazing. We had a lovely experience and our server was spectacular.
First time but will not be the last. It was a dining experience.
you MUST get the monkey bread!! Everyone loved their brunch dishes
This is a perfect place for gathering a group for cocktails and snacks ahead of going somewhere else. The service is great, the food is tasty, but the family-style service is tilted toward benefiting the restaurant rather than the guests when plates arrive at the table with zero timing and no rhyme or reason other than whenever it comes out of the kitchen. The meandering menu probably has something for everyone but will never really satisfy anyone; there is no sense of a meal arc or even a genre; this is an Instagram restaurant geared to photographed plates and customers advertising their overpriced underwhelming food.
It was our first time to dine at Sawyer and all four of us enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and the food was so tasty and beautiful. We are looking forward to returning for another great time.
I didn’t see you about six times. Every meal has been great. The service is always good. And I love the building: the high ceilings, original wood floors, tall windows. The food is the star though. You must have the grilled artichokes. The duck was amazing as was the porchetta. One time I eat with a friend at the bar and had excellent service as well. My only struggle and Sawyer was the last time she didn’t open table and not in one of the more enclosed areas I found the noise to be very very loud. But I know now to request one of the more enclosed banquettes. I highly recommend Sawyer I’ve now taken five other people there because I love it so much!
My third visit—1st for my client/friends. As always, wonderful, delicious, fantastic service. Gracious, generous and esthetically pleasing. Love love Sawyer!
Everything about our experience was wonderful, and the food is outstanding. Will be back soon!
The food was fantastic! Celebrated a birthday with a large group including kids and they took great care of the kids and the rest of us! Would highly recommend!
Service was amazing. Very fun to try lots of different flavors.
Loved Sawyer! Great date night spot. Loved the decor and vibe. Quiet enough to have a conversation but not library quiet. Food was SO DELICIOUS and really well styled. Super impressed and would go back.
My wife and I loved this place so much. I had been excited to go here for months after discovering them through the James Beard awards, and this place absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. We ordered a little less than half of the menu, and every single dish was great in its own way. Can't wait to come back!
We love sawyer! Amazing food and drinks! Highly recommended! We will be back
Recently moved to the Seattle area, and have had so-so dining experiences in Ballard. Sawyer will be in regular rotation.
Loved Avery. He made our visit fun and memorable!
Restaurant week and had one of the best meals in a long time- so goooood!
Great food! Wonderful experience for seattle restaurant week! :)
I found my experience at Sawyer to be extremely disappointing. I am a long-time Ballard residents who is really into good food and wanted to try it after reading positive reviews about the food. The food was decent but not amazing. First, of all I thought the venue to be so cold and uninviting - it is a cavernous space that is not used well and conveys a coldness. When we were seated, we had terrible service - no one checked in with us for a long time - and after that, it wasn't clear who was our waiter - we had four different people bring in food to us (and it took a long time for it to come when there weren't that many people). A couple of the servers were totally off too - as cold as the space. I really would not recommend this place and will not be trying it again.
Probably one of my new favorite restaurants in Seattle. Amazing atmosphere, considerate staff, and delicious food!
Cons: No parking, had a reservation and still had to wait, desert was clearly pre-made and refrigerated (to be fair, I went there during restaurant week). Entrees were okay but not great.
Pros: Appetizers were very good. Drinks were great (and not a bad price). I would go back for drinks and apps but definitely wouldn't drive.
The first course of Dungeness Crab Scallion Pancake could've been a meal itself! Fantastic flavor combinations, and a fun wine list.
The pork buns were delicious! Some of the best I've ever had. We'll definitely go back soon.
I really enjoyed the pork bun sandwiches and the animal style burger. The food sounds casual but it was dressed up well and presented with style. The scallops were impressive and satisfying for seafood lovers. The waitress was nice enough to have my cocktail remade when I didn’t really love it.
I went for restaurant week and had a lovely experience — will be
Our waitress was amazing!
We loved our special anniversary dinner at Sawyer! Our server was extremely knowledgeable and gave us excellent recommendations. He was friendly and really made the experience memorable. All of the food was delicious. The only negative is that it was a little bit drafty.
Great experience and had an enjoyable time. It was our date night so we were happy to try something new. Food wise - the blackened fish needed seasoning. The pickled onions were great - if there were more of those in the dish then you could definitely get away with the lack of seasoning. The crab pancake and apple and beet salad were fabulous.. I'd pair those together - definitely more bang for your buck. For the peanut butter cheesecake - definitely say that there are pieces of peanut butter. I would have loved to have eaten this - no PB allergy but not knowing this upfront makes all the difference. Overall we'd come back.
Wonderful experience dining at Sawyer, and we look forward to enjoying many more memorable evenings there.
Great ambience in a really cool space, the Menu is modern and had great options.
Highly recommended!
Wonderful food. Great historic building. Fabulous service. I will be back.
LOVE the pork belly tacos. Have to have them every time
Good experience - food was good but more choice would have been good
Amazing food, great ambiance and decor, perfect service. Cannot wait to return to Sawyer! Food is a reimagining of classic meals and flavors, so even picky eaters will find something to enjoy here.
