Late birthday dinner
It was a special night out with amazing food. So appreciative that the staff actually checked the booking and were aware of my food intolerance. They helped us choose from the menu. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was special.
Would highly recommend for any special occasion.

All excellent, and a superb way to celebrate our 50th Wedding anniversary. Paynesville was somewhat different in 1970, but now enjoying lovely spots such as this, and we were fortunate to be able to celebrate in this way. All excellent.
An absolute must if you are anywhere near! Delicious, creative food, great cocktails and wine and extremely good service. We loved the whole evening - a district cut above the rest!
Swrvice was incredible, price was suprising. We were shocked when we got the bill that it was so cheap. Food was amazing. I dont really enjoy seafood normally but tried some new things and loved it. Would definately go back
Found the meal an adventure of the taste buds. Serving sizes were good. Would have liked a 3rd flower on the cauliflower entree.

It was an absolute delight to find such a beautiful restaurant in the Gippsland Lakes region. The food was excellent, the wine list was well considered and the ambience was relaxed and friendly. It was the highlight of our trip to rural Victoria.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting experience. The service was excellent. As good as any similarly priced big city restaurant. Reflecting the Paynesville seaside town feel.

Once again Sardine provided an exciting eclectic menu of local produce and sea herbs that excites your tase buds, outstanding.
Excellent wine and food with exceptional table service. One but can only feel relax in the atmosphere which seems to have been created just for you and your guest. A must visit to Paynesville if only to experience this delight.
A very enjoyable and interesting meal. We did the smaller of the two chef's choices meals and every course was excellent and we were full. A great night out.
Excellent experience. My wife and I shared entrée of sardines and zucchini flowers - couldn’t fault them. I then had the venison which was the best I have eaten - largely due to the jus which complimented the meat rather than a very rich sauce as is often served with venison. My wife had the cod with mussels which was a good combination. All meals presented creatively and sensibly and the hot meals were actually hot.

Wonderful meal, the only place to eat in Paynesville .We had zucchini flowers, olives, Chargrilled Octopus, Lakes Entrance bugs, followed by peanut butter parfait. Wines by the glass showcase local viticulture. Very reasonably priced. highly recommend. Staff knew their stuff too and very good service.
Great food and service. I was expecting they might do something special for our anniversary as they asked in reservation about the occasion was little disappointed in that regard. But still spoke highly recommend it
We had the tasting plate and were delighted by the interesting and varied courses offered. The element of surprise made it great fun and there were one or two dishes that we tried that possibly we would not have ordered but still enjoyed. The presentation was excellent as was the service. We were a party of 4 and had a table closest to the window in the outdoor section which was lovely. It was a relaxed setting with plenty of space around us and quiet so we could have conversations effortlessly without intruding on others or hearing the conversation of others.
The amount of food per course was just right so we left feeling replete but not overly full. Our only quibble was that were served a wine that we hadn’t ordered - a communication error possibly. Unfortunately it was not to our taste and consumed it nevertheless. The error was discovered when the bill arrived. The apology was made and the price adjusted so it all ended well.
I would like to add that I was disappointed that Nicholson River wines, from a local vineyard and quite wonderful, didn’t appear to be on the wine list, although another local winery was there. There were lots of wines from elsewhere in the world but in these challenging times I would like to see more support for local wines of top quality. The restaurant does make great use of local food produce so why not incorporate more local wines is our feeling. All in all a very enjoyable dining experience.
The 19 Gippsland wines on our list have been chosen as the best expressions of our wonderful region + to match the dishes on our menu. We are pleased you enjoyed visiting another of the local wineries.

Wonderful, fresh, innovative food. The kingfish crudo was a sensational combination of flavours and the beef tenderloin was superb. The choice of wine by the glass was extensive and promoted local winemakers.

Drinks a bit pricey!
We lashed out and had the degustation. Food was fabulous, especially the baby bugs. Matching wine value was not quite there. But otherwise highly recommend.
Outstanding in every way!
We chose the basic degustation at $85 per head. Wine prices always add significantly to the bill. Wonderful food. Waiters easy to speak to. They gave us time to answer our questions and knew most of the answers. We have advertised Sardine, Paynesville to our friends back in Geelong. We regarded our experience as excellent and of fair value.

Dinner was delighful, service amd recommendations from the staff were excellent. The size of the meals were perfect to share and every dish was delicious. This venue is a must visit for all. The only disappointing part was that it wasnt open for lunch too :)
After not dining out since January this was the best place to break the drought. Food was absolutely beautiful with local and Australian produce. Service fabulous we felt very special even dealing with covid safe everyone was lovely.
