Sandstone Point Hotel
Sandstone Point Hotel, just a short drive north from Brisbane, offers a beautiful location at which to enjoy contemporary, globally-inspired meals with something delicious for every type of taste. The chargrilled garlic prawn skewers with lemon mayonnaise and the slow-cooked chili pork belly with shaved apple and watercress make sharable and taste bud-warming starters. Some of Sandstone Point Hotel Ôs specialty mains include the grilled chicken supreme wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with creamy brie, the angus striploin steak slathered in creamy garlic sauce and the sand crab and scallop mousse lasagna. More casual fare, such as the Point slider plate with a barbecue pulled pork, barbecue chicken, beef with horseradish mayo and brie and avocado sliders and the spiced lamb pizza with cucumber, mint and spinach yogurt, are also popular.
Sandstone Point Hotel also has a full kids' menu, making it an excellent dining choice for the whole family.
Beautiful large restaurant with friendly staff & quick service. It was busy when we came in but our food arrived surprisingly quick & it was a delicious meal. The only negative experience of the night was the table beside us had a very loud intoxicated lady who I noticed disturbed everyone at the tables surrounding her because she was all you could hear while trying to enjoy your meal but this is no fault to the restaurant, we still enjoyed our date night there.
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Sandstone. It’s definitely improved and the standard of food was much better than on previous occasions and improved service as well.
We went back this year - it is a special occasion for us. We love the waterside views, the food, the staff, the environment, the kids play area and the seating outside but undercover.
It called off a perfect Mothers Day for my Princess
Wonderful atmosphere and grounds - will definitely be back here. Came for a late lunch on mothers day and food came out quickly and was delicious!!
The ladies toilets near the restaurant were DISGUSTING. They are dark, wet, dirty. Why? Put some lights in and clean them up. The bar staff are rude and have no customer service training. The positives are beautiful views and music
We ordered a $42 Op Rib which came out stone cold, when we asked for it to be rectified they heated the plate and nothing else
This is not to do with our meal at all. That is always great as is the venue. I would like to see a paved path from the top of the hill to the bottom down to the fish and chippery to assist with getting the disabled and elderly down there with greater ease. Down can be done but uphill is very difficult with wheel chairs.
Also I wanted to take my elderly mum and dad in their wheel chair and walker to that table and chairs area under the beautiful tree so they could be in the shade and overlook the grassy area to watch their great grandchildren play but wheel chairs cannot access that area.
Excellent food, and generous meals. Casual yet sophisticated venue with a beautiful view.
Overall I would not be bothered again, I had my brother come from Sydney and thought it would be a pleasant spot. I had booked the table online and yes the seating was there, and pleasant enough.
Then we started with the disappointments - meals - one burger, one steak sandwich and one fish and chips - totaled over $92 with the 15% loading, this took close to the hour to arrive, although we had been warned that it would be about 40 minutes, but... it was closer to 60 minutes.
When the meals did arrive, there was so much salt on the chips that it burnt my mouth and could not eat them, the steak had grizzle on it that I wondered what part of the cow they used, and my husband could not eat the fish - he picked at it a fair bit and removed the batter which was not cooked properly and really, I suppose I could choose something from every aspect.
So - no, I did not think it was value for money, a smaller - healthier meal would have been more appreciated, a piece of pan fried or grilled fish with a small tasty salad. We had asked for the Thai beef salad but.... could not be done without the peanuts. We had asked for bangers and mash, but.... there were none.
So would I recommend to a friend? Definitely not, unless I knew that this type of meal and wait time is for them.
Great service, food was awesome and super atmosphere.
If you're ok with really average service from really morose staff then everything else is great.
Great setting good food but should have table service. No shortage of staff that stood around talking
Great atmosphere and speedy service. Meals are huge. Best chips around
Food was excellent. It is a little pricey but as a treat well worth it. Service was a little slow which was a little surprising given not that busy, however cooked to perfection and fresh.
The food was beautiful & the service fantastic. We look forward to coming back
My family and I (five adults) went to Sandstone for dinner. This was a good choice for us as we have two vegetarians and one vegan in the group, so we had to find somewhere to accommodate everyone and that's not always easy. The menu is varied and was perfect for all our tastes and tolerances. It was a little noisy however as there were a few crazy kids running around. Screaming (even if it is fun) is not a great background noise for dinner. You order your own drinks from the bar and food from the restaurant counter, so service is minimum. But the staff we had contact with were very pleasant. All in all it turned out to be a good night and we all left feeling well fed and happy with our choice of venues. We would go back again.
Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon. Our party of 13 enjoyed it and for many it was their first time attending Sandstone Point. The only negative would be the volume of the outside muso playing in the restaurant was a bit loud.
Great food, great atmosphere, all round great venue. Plenty of room to move and fantastic for dining with kids!
Great atmosphere, we enjoyed eating inside, food and service was fabulous. Thanks
Great family friendly place. Staff where very attentive
The booking process was easy, service was very good and we really enjoyed our lunch! Will be back again soon!
Lovely food in a beautiful location. The outside tables give a great view on a sunny day.
It would be good to have some outdoor tables for small bookings of 4 or less.
Had to wait about 40 minutes for food and the lighting outside at table 50 could have been brighter.
Great value and a fantastic environment. Affordable family day out.
Good food and atmosphere. Not a long wait for food.
Staff were friendly and checked on us a number of times to make sure that everything was ok.
It is our second visit for dinner with family and friends and we will be definitely be back again.
Great service and great sized meals. Atmosphere is lovely
The food was delicious couldn't fault it, it took a little while for the food to come out but it was worth the wait.
So impressed that we will be booking a larger table towards the end of June.
We always enjoy lunch or dinner at Sandstone.
We brought some friends too and they enjoyed the food and ambience.
I definitely recommend this place to everyone.
The evening was quiet with approx 8 tables occupied. They had run out of a couple of menu items quite early as we ordered at 6pm. Garlic, cheese pizza was nice, lamb shank pie was beautiful and the mussels were provided in a huge serving, while the mussels were small they were very sweet and flavoursome. Only disappointment was the wine list which suggested no Australian Sauv Blanc wine due to a misprint. Wild Oats Sauv Blanc is a WA wine but according to the wine list is from NZ. Will go back again soon
Service atmosphere food all good. Being very busy is a positive but does come with some draw backs.
Maître de was very helpful. Good time thanks
We had a lovely family lunch the mud crab was amazing. Highly recommend booking a table.
Really enjoyed our time there. However would love to see a bit more options on the menu. Definitely need to add ribs to the menu.
Chips were cold, salad was dry with minimal dressing, forget sauce with sons steak
Excellent venue, many different areas/bars to choose from, very good service, average food.
The atmosphere was lovely. The opportunities to entertain everyone in the family was in one place. Great playground, animals, plants, soccer, music etc It felt like being on a mini holiday with the beautiful water view
We ordered 4main meals and 1 kids meal. 2 main meals were bought out about 50 mins after we ordered. The other 2 main meals came out about 30 minutes later. The kids meal came 5 minutes after that. Nuggets and chips took 85 minutes to cook???? One of the main meals was the seafood tier. The fresh seafood was amazing. The cooked seafood was over cooked and soggy. The lamb shank pie was great and the battered barra was great. The nuggets were over cooked - not much chicken was in them as they were dry and crunchy. The food is overpriced. I have heard so many great comments about how wonderful the food is. It’s a pity we didn’t get to experience that. The hotel itself was amazing and a great location. Would I come back for the food - I don’t think so for the price we paid it was so disappointing. Thank you
Good food, nice environment and service. Relaxing day out.
Was a wonderful first experience at Sandstone Point Hotel. The staff for very accommodating for my elderly grandparents and were quick to help with any issues. Was a tad expensive but that’s what you pay for top quality food. Not one of us had any complaints regarding the food. It was top notch! The kids had a fabulous time playing in both the indoor and out door play areas but were a little disappointed about the petting zoo not being open. They still enjoyed them self nonetheless. Overall, we had a fabulous time and will definitely be back!
Favourite tavern in Australia. Very special every time you visit. Outstanding location, brilliant facilities for young and old and great food.
