Good value for money, enjoyable food. Adults enjoyed there meals. Good place for whole family.
Visited for my birthday, staff were lovely, the food was incredible and there martini’s are well done
I booked this place thinking it was a nice cafe to have a Hens brunch the morning of my wedding. As travelled from Victoria I am absolutely disgusted by the service of waitresses at this place. If they find it funny to spill a HOT coffee on my guests lap and not apologize or have any sympathy I'd like how to see how they would react! I am a quiet person and would never confront anyone but the way we got treated she definitely got a mouthful from me. When spoken to management about it we got told it's the waitresses "attitude" what a joke!
I feel a little bad saying this, and I also feel bad as I didn't mention it to the staff at the time, but my fish and chips were awful.
The location is great, the service was excellent, very friendly and attentive staff. Plenty of drinks to choose from and food is priced well, but the battered fish was overly battered, overcooked and oily and the chips were not nice either.
I would be reluctant to return.
We reserved online with Open Table - Beware, the restaurant will likely NOT honour bookings made here. On arrival we were told that despite booking and confirming on OT, we were outside of their allowable booking deadline of noon and we were subsequently shamed for not knowing this was a policy (stated nowhere on Open Table not on their website). We were told “if you’re lucky we might have a table within and hour but once you get seated it will be a minimum of 50 mins for food”. After stating our displeasure the hostess offered for us to wait at the bar and the first round of drinks was on the house. Okay... so three people in our group of six tried to order cocktails and were abruptly told off by the bartender that those didn’t qualify for “free” drinks, and we were charged full price. (The other three were minors and ordering soda water so the math should have evened out!). We were eventually seated at a makeshift table on the side of a walkway. We tried to order two dishes on the menu and were told that they’d run out (the cheese plate being one of the items) - so some people just settled for second or third choice items. We ordered... then... never saw our server again. My husband eventually ordered another round of drinks at the bar and a side of chips which came within 5 mins. Meanwhile our dinner order took 90 minutes to arrive and even then, items were missing. After asking a random staff member to check, we eventually received the missing dishes. Overall this was a horrible experience and I’d recommend you avoid this spot at all costs. No one seems to give a whit at this disjointed, horrible “establishment”. You’ll regret your choice.
We booked at 11,30 for brunch but weren't told that food wasn't served at 11
We were starving as we had run the marathon (which I mentioned in my email) so had to go somewhere else
The staff weren't flexible at all
This was our first visit to Sandbar and the resturant was really nice! My partner and i ate some garlic bread followed by a beautiful steak for dinner. The staff were very friendly, even allowing us to enjoy a cocktail each after our meal! Great location, right on the beach!
Thank you. We had a wonderful night out with our kids. Food was delicious and staff were friendly. Will come again next time we in Australia
The food definitely made up for the customer service. Our waiter really didn't want to be there and hurried us to order our drinks as soon as we sat down! It was nice when they took the effort to tell me that the kitchen wasn't gluten free because the fried chicken I had on my burger (gluten free bread) was cooked in the same oil as the fries which weren't gluten free. Also the fish and chips was way too big of a portion. The fried piece of fish was as long as my friend's arm! All in all, probably wouldn't go this restaurant again :(
Great vibe, great food and great drinks! Would recommend to come here for a casual feed and drinks or in a group as we were.
It wasn’t a disaster, however a series of small issues made it disappointing, so I wouldn’t be in a rush to return.
Good value for money casual dining. Kid friendly atmosphere.
Great brunch with great service. Food and drinks were all perfect. We had a great time and we will be back. Perfect for all ages. Lots of families there, all enjoying the view of the ocean.
On arrival we were told our reservation was not confirmed even though I got an email saying that it had been confirmed. Then we got seated after 10 minutes and waited another 10 minutes to get our ordered taken. The waitress did not speak very good English and it was very difficult to place out orders. We waited 45 minutes before we asked where our orders were only to be greeted by a sigh and a tut. The meal was average and cold like it had been sitting there for a long time. Then when paying the lady did not ask how our meals were or anything. We felt very very unwelcome and felt like we were a burden. I will never return and would not recommend to anyone
Amazing location. Food was Devine. Only downfall was we were served 25 minutes after being shown to our table. Would still recommend. They just need to work on there service :)
Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Overlooking the ocean and staff very friendly.
The service was terrible. The waiter had very poor communication. They didn't have what we wanted off the menu and what was bought out to us was sub-standard. Ended up only ordering an entree and leaving so we could have dinner somewhere else
Very slow service, the staff didn’t seem to care too much whether you needed assistance.
The food was ok too much chilli added so it wasn’t too pleasant to eat. My friends meal was even hotter than mine she didn’t enjoy it either.
Main meal we had fish and chips * 2 was fairly small for the cost , looked liked they had used one fillet of fish for two meals and one serve of chips between the two plates, the accompaning coleslaw the biggest item on the plate had no dressing at all , response to them being informed is we will tell the kitchen for next time
Great price, easy to find right in Surfers. Friendly staffs and delicious meals.
When we arrived the table we reserved was ready to go.
It was a hot day but the restaurant wasn’t very cool. We asked for the fans to be turned up as it was so warm.
I tracked down a waiter to take our order after about 15 minutes.
There was a mishap with the one of the orders but I’m not certain who’s fault it was.
The food was good.
Excellent location, fantastic service and lovely environment.
It's a few months since last time I went for dinner and the Lemmy burguer was already in my head before we went last Saturday. As a fan of Mötorhead, was funny and was yummy as well, but for my surprise when I opened the menú and It was there anymore. For the rest all good as usual. Thank you. Bring back Lemmy please
The ambience was lovely and we were happy with our table. The host was welcoming, although we waited while he attended to a patron drink order. Whilst the F & B attendant was pleasant her absence from our table was more often than not. This was surprising considering the place did not appear busy. We would have spent a lot more money had she offered drink service. The food was okay. The edamame beans tasted like mature soybeans meant for tofu, not the young ones that are soft and edible. The salmon was overcooked.
Overall, this was a disappointing dinner. However, I have eaten lunch here in the past and, enjoyed the experience. I feel that this establishment is more suited to casual shoppers and beach dwellers.
Great food, fun vibe, delicious espresso martini - awfully slow service.
I came to Sandbar with a group of 9. We were seated on the beach which was really nice! We firstly ordered drinks which took about 15-20 minutes. 2 waiters came to our table offering us the wrong drinks...twice! We ordered about 6 sides, the garlic bread came out right after our drinks and then about 40 minutes after that half of our tables meals came out. All steaks were cooked incorrectly and all food was freezing. After half of us had finished our meals the rest of the sides came out and the rest of the tables food came out. Probably the worst dining experience I have ever had....
Fantastic food! We just thought the wait for the food was quite long considering how many people were there
Service was so bad
We had to wait an hour for our drinks and it’s wasnt busy
We can see them sitting on the bar
When we got the they were very warm
Had a lovely dinner with 11 guests, including kids. Service was friendly and our requests were met with a smile. Kids had fun with the colouring in and pool tables. Great setting right across from the beach. We had a fun night. Great for groups and families.
Food service was lacking. Didn’t have the ingredients for our order but didn’t tell us after waiting for over 30min. Then they messed up reorder. We finally cancelled.
Strawberry cheesecake cocktail was probably the best I’ve ever had! Amazing food and staff too!
We have been a few times and it’s usually really good but this time no...just because it’s busy doesn’t mean you should drop your Standard of food, we were happy to wait the 1/2 hour but not for what was served. Service and atmosphere was great.
We got there at the time of the booking and the restaurant was closed!
We made reservations at Sandbar in LaQuinta California and evencalled to make sure they had our reservation at 7:00 pm. Which they denied that we had reservations but they seated us. We plan to call for reservations fro now forwards
Had lunch with a friend and we both enjoyed the teriyaki salmon on soba noodles and had sides of salad and sweet potato fries. We just had water to drink and the bill was about AUD$70. We sat on the terrace which faces the ocean, but there is a busy road between the restaurant and the beach, so there was quite a bit of road noise. The service was friendly but a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry. Overall it was a nice experience and I would do it again.
Ridiculously slow service, several food order mixups for our table and we had to go to the bar for drinks as the waiters were often nowhere to be seen.
Our Family shouted us a trip to Surfers for a reunion and through enquiries at The Focus we were told that your establishment was the answer to our prayers and how right they were.
Thanks a million for the magnificent evening and for the excellent service that (old age, can't remember his name) but he was French, provided,Nothing was too much trouble for this chap.
Thanks once again Sandbar have to say we couldn't have picked a better place for our Reunion meal.
Our reservation was for 7 pm and when we were seated we were advised it was 30 minutes wait for food. One hour and 15 minutes later the meals arrived!! We were shocked by the wait. Staff could have offered a side dish or fries complimentary to tide us all over but did not. There wasa mix up with the food as well and one of our guests waited another 20 minutes for her meal. You seriously need to life your game - more staff, more cooks, apologies would all be helpful
Great location right on the beach and fast friendly service on a busy Saturday nite.
Great evening good food and great atmosphere and well priced. Service was a bit clunky though had to chase second round of drinks
