Overall a great place for lunch & dinner. Loved the seafood thali. The salt in the shrimp dish was slightly on the higher side.
Went there to celebrate our Anniversary and invited some close friends.
It’s very upscale with great ambience, delicious food and awesome service. Only thing I disliked was too much noise. My husband & I went for our anniversary and we were seated in the middle of restaurant. It was very loud around us. We would have preferred a little quiet place.
Food and service are very good. Staff ensures that any concerns are well taken
Nothing special. Overpriced for what is at best average food. Decent ambiance and service.
Great service - friendly staff - unique dishes - overall wonderful experience
This was our first visit to Samudhra. We ordered the Tandoori Chicken and Tandoori Paneer Tikka, which were both very good. The Daahi ke Sholay was fried, so not to our liking. But it was out mistake - we did not ask the server what this dish was - it just sounded different. We ordered vegetarian entrees, and found them very oily. The taste was good, but could have done without the extra oil oozing out. The palak paneer was quite tasty though. The Garlic naan was very good. The desert was good, but very rich again, Overall, the food is good, and could be better if they cut down on the oil. The server was excellent, and ambiance was good.
Food, service, hostess, waiters, everything is outstanding.
The service was lousy and the appetizers were without any salt and we’re so tasteless and we had called the manager for them and all the drinks were very bad ounce of liquor with 8 ounce of soda and the food was bland and when complained they made it so hot and spicy that we burned our mouths and the kids couldn’t eat it was a bad experience and even though we visited for the second time .
Good ambiance. Waitress was very nice. Good apps. Entree - Dum Aloo - was below average. Cocktail was below average.
Great food and service
Everything was great. Appetizers and cocktails were spot on. Our server was very accommodating. Having a DJ in the lounge area was a treat.
It is expensive and I don't feel it is worth the money.
We made a reservation for a group and had a poor experience. Below are the highlights. Very disappointing and would not recommend!!
-Drinks are excellent! If I were to ever come back it would be for the drinks during happy hour as they are overpriced at regular price
-Palak chat was great! Only item of the evening we finished!
-Paneer bullet was extremely bitter. Tasted like poison. We sent this back and they came to apologize as I guess they also sampled it and something was wrong with the paneer. Thankfully they did take this off the bill
-Mysore bonda was super oily and also uneatable. I also sent this back but was still charged for it
-The did not give us papad. After asking twice they finally brought it out. Was extremely oily as the oil was literally dripping onto my plate
-Murgh malai tikka was also disgusting. It looked like a clump of soggy meat rather than tandoor. We did not finish this and left over 70% of it untouched. I also was charged for this.
-Entrees of dal makhni, malai kofta and murgh tikka masala were all below average. We left 50% uneaten and did not pack the rest to go.
-I ordered a roti with my meal and was given naan instead. When I told the waiter he said I can keep it and he will bring me a roti. He never brought the roti. When it was time for the check I told him the roti never came and he asked if I wanted it at that time. I said no but was still charged for the naan that I never ordered.
-Service was below average. While the server was nice, he was very forgetful, had a lackluster attitude and kept forgetting things (papad, my order, onions, etc)
-18% gratuity was automatically added. Probably the reason for lackluster service
-Bill was $200 and had a overall very poor experience. Nobody seemed to care either. Will not come back.
The service from our waiter was great. But then a manager came up to our table (just 2 of us) and made us leave. She said we could take our dessert to the Lounge area if we wanted, but we needed to leave. It was so awkward and definitely rude. And we didn’t want to take our dessert with us because it was overly sweet. We did tell her and our waiter that and the manager simply gave us a “sucks to be you” look. My office was thinking of having a welcome lunch for one of my team members next week- I told my boss to look for a new spot!
Definitely a good place to treat someone special, particularly in an area where there are no High end Indian restaurants except Palace of Asia in Princeton, being a town filled with Indians!!
Very good food and nice ambiance. Enjoyed the food and drinks.
Great ambience, decent food.
It was open on Christmas Day so the service was slow , but I think they had skeleton crews.
Definitely recommend the lounge.
Will be back.
Upscale Indian fine dining place with good food. We tried all type of Thali and they were really good.
Good service and clean facility, staff was courteous. We had good time but overall i am giving low score because of allergy issues. We mentioned about Peanut allergy to at least 3 people at the restaurant everyone from manager, hostess and server. we were informed about the cross contamination which we were ok with. After looking at the menu we realized one of the item tradionally is cooked in Peanut Gravy, we requested for a change in thali and chef was courteous enough to substitute it with something else. Here is my issue there was another item in the thali which had peanuts in it, like full peanuts not oil/not gravy but full peanut. i fail to understand how after telling 4 people separately how come we were not informed of both the item ( the one we asked for replacement and other which was served). what was the point of telling you guys about the allergy requirements if you did not bother to care and still served. while ordering it should have been mentioned that one item will made in peanut Gravy and other will have peanut in it. which you guys clearly fail to inform us.
This was our first time. The food was absolutely amazing. Definitely going back!!
Good food, Good Ambiance, Good Service .. couple of points while we were enjoying our night at the Lounge, we were not informed of the kitchen closing... our group was left hungry...
Everything other than the food was good. The food was too greasy and not tasteful at all. Also in one of the entree’s the oil was soo bad that we could not even take a 2nd bite. They took it off the check which was nice.
Its a good place but they need a good chef.
Overall the food was good with good service and ambiance.
One of the best Indian restaurant in the area.. food was amazing dnd excellent service
The decor is very nice and gives a great feeling of a well regarded restaurants, especially in NJ. However, the biggest disappointment was that the service was below par for a restaurant such as this where pricing is over the top compared with other good restaurants in NY. The waiter who was assigned to our table was clueless about the items as shown in the menu. He provided us the appetizer menu and not the main detailed menu. We had to literally show him what we wanted by pointing towards the items in the menu. Also, I found there were different people serving appetizer, drinks, dinner items etc, as opposed to one person. This was very unusual. Food was generally good, although need to enhance more dinner entrees. You may have to provide proper training to the waiters about timeliness, understand the menus, and be able to suggest items that are popular.
This is the Best South Indian restaurant in New Jersey
Service is good until the restaurant gets crowded and then things become real slow. Bit pricey but food is good both in taste and presentation. Good cocktails!!
Overall a good experience.
Excellent food , great ambience , good service , one of the finest Indian restaurant
Great ambience and one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to in a long time. Quality and presentation of food is exceptional. Compliments goes to the chef, management and staff of this restaurant. I trust and hope that service levels and quality of food will be maintained.
Food, ambience and table setting was great. Service was not the best. Took a long time to get the orders in. The Mumbai velvet margarita was outstanding so was the Malai Chicken, Paneer bullet and the Goat Biryani. Cold air was wafting through the main door into the restaurant so they should improve the entry door way.
Good ambience, lounge seating is a good way to enjoy with friends and family. Food is very good!
Overall good customer service and food was as ordered and delicious.
Great food, excellent service. Ambience is really good.
Fourth visit and service just sucked. Pity to see a nice place being let down by service and poor management. Food was good. I hope they can get their act together.
We were very happy with the restaurant vibe, food and service at Samudhra. The lounge is a very nice casual seating area which was great to have a drink before the meal. And the food was excellent with the right level of spice. Ambience was upscale and yet not too formal.
Good bar and good food. Fresh ambience and menu options.
We loved it! Starting with the modern, yet comfortable decor, the food, drinks and service, it’s was a clear winner. A tad loud as it fills up, could use some sort of sound absorbing feature. Nevertheless, what a cool and delicious find in our neighborhood! We will be back, a lot.
The ambiance, food was very good. Staff were courteous. Unfortunately the night we went for dinner, the noise from the other table was intolerable. We did ask the bearer to ask them to keep it low but it was of no use. There were quite a few bday celebrations that day but none of it was enjoyable.
Awful Service, Mediocre Food, Good Ambiance..
Went to this place for dinner on Thursday; the restaurant wasn't even 1/3 full so they can't blame the awful service on busy hour. We ordered our food and the waitress asked us to show where in the menu those items are; she took 10 mins going back and forth on the order as some of the items were not available. After taking the order we got two missing dishes that we ordered and waitress acted as if we didn't place any order like that.
Ordered some drinks and a beer; took around 10-12 mins and was told it landed on someone else's table by mistake. duh.....
Food is typical; heavily cheese infused; taste the same not something you can call delicious; the price is more than double as compared to any good Indian restaurant in NJ.
Ambiance is the only positive point of this restaurant; but paying double the price for disappointingly awful service is not what I plan to go for one more time.
Advice to the Management: Ambiance doesn't cut it alone if the service sucks bad with not so great food ...
It was our first time to the restaurant, great ambiance, food and the staff. Enjoyed it.
