I ordered the seafood linguine at $42 and I was very disappointed. The pasta was overcooked and the sauce was clearly reheated to many times as the Filleted-fish was unidentifiable and broken down into so many little pieces. Wouldn’t be excepted at any reputable restaurant in Melbourne.
I also had half a dozen oysters, and all you could taste was the coles bottled bbq sauce. However the service was very good and the waitresses were very attentive.

Service was good, and wine recommendations for platter were spot on.
Entree of chilli oysters were really nice. Accompanied with cocktails.
Mains was a beautiful fillet steak for our one non seafood eater. And we indulged in a Sammys Platter and Aussie Classic platter for the other 5 of us.
The crayfish was absolutely the best thing on the platters. Natural oysters were good, grilled Gar, crammed whiting were also nice. Squid was good but the crumb was slightly underdone.
The most disappointing things were the prawns as they were very tough and hard to peel. A real tell tale that they had been frozen for awhile. The other disappointing thing was the overcooked salmon. Was really not nice. No crispy skin either. All in all it made the whole meal and the $860 price tag very disappointing. Glad we only go once a year. Although it was mentioned that maybe we should try something different next year for our family get together.
I would recommend, but ask for fresh prawns and NO salmon.

We purchased the ‘Sammy’s Classic Platter’ and some oysters to start with. The food was incredible and the quality was amazing. We were served by lovely staff, who had a great sense of humour as well as being professional. I would highly recommend Sammy’s on the Marina!

Sammy's was chosen for an Anniversary Lunch. We had a window table but couldn't see clearly as the windows appeared to have been neglected for some time leaving a smoky appearance. The entrée Kilpatrick double smoked oysters were very basic and to say the least - ordinary. Moroccan Barramundi was so salty it was unpleasant and the crumbed whiting little better than fish and chips at a cafe. disappointing and won't bother booking again!

Food was fantastic and staff were attentive. We did have to wait around 35 minutes for our main course and also they had run out of the dessert that we wanted even though the restaurant was very quiet.

I was alittle hesitate after reading some of the reviews lately but they don't seem to be true, we had a wonderful lunch here, the waiting staff were great and my drinks were always filled.. the food was fresh and plenty of it, we have now been here a few times and each time they surprise us with great assistance and well managed staff. Terrific restaurant, food was beautiful, service excellent and ambiance perfect along with lovely views. Perfect lunch and fantastic start to celebrate the New Year with friends.
The Food quality and the Service was fantastic. The time between ordering and the gap between courses was also spot on. It was a windy day, so we were very pleased to be inside, where the view of the ocean was very pleasant.
No cutlery or napkins provided until requested (after food was delivered)
No drinks service after initial order & other customers directed to our area for smoking as we were on the upper level outdoor area.
Food was good but the experience was quite ordinary.

I booked in for dinner for New Year’s Eve late November for ourselves and another couple. I wasn’t notified at any stage that the menu would be very limited compared to their normal menu or that changes would be made to their usual platters available (eg no chili mud crab on any of the platters). If I’d known, I probably wouldn’t have made the reservation or I would have cancelled. We ordered 2 platters for the table, and while they looked impressive, the fish wasn’t cooked well. Salmon and barramundi were over cooked. Oysters were warm rather than chilled. Our lobster was good but the other couple’s lobster was served without the accompanying lemon butter sauce. No finger bowls or tongs were provided so we had to ask for them and also for the missing lemon butter sauce. Service overall was very poor and considering the charge of $380 for one of our platters and $310 for the other, I think it’s reasonable to expect a high standard of service, and especially if you’re charging a surcharge of 10% due to public holiday wages. We weren’t approached for additional drink orders, tea/coffee or dessert so we had to constantly try to attract servers attention. Location is lovely being on the waterfront, but for us, it’s the only reason we would consider returning, it wouldn’t be for the standard of food or service, as at fine dining prices, there are much better options in Adelaide.

I was disappointed with the lack of selection on the New Years Eve Menu, the waitress did not ask if we would like crumbed or grilled for starters. We had to wait over 10minutes for a waitress to walk past to get the attention of just for the bill. Considering the price of the restaurant I expected a greater value for money with portion sizes and the service to be more efficient, with more staff on as most staff were inside the restaurant and not checking on outside tables.

Nothing special with the food. Overpriced. They forgot the order and have to repeat again. Poor service! Booked for indoor they gave us outdoor and had to tell them we booked inside table. Very slow service from taking the order to serving the food. Will never come back again and will not recommend never at Sammy's!

Booked for 13 people for a birthday. Waiting staff were terrible. Food took forever and was very average. Was almost impossible to get drinks - had to go to the bar or wave down staff to get served. Very very expensive for what it is. Paid a $50 visa holding deposit and was told it would be credited back but 3 days later still has not been refunded. Have been to Sammy’s numerous times before but obviously under new owners and has totally gone sideways. Overall would never go back.
The food was well presented and the waiters were courteous and helpful. Great atmosphere & fine dining!

I found hair in my food
My partner ordered a hills cider and was charged for a hills cider but was given Somersby .
The steak was the tiniest steak I’ve seen in my life .
The waitress dropped someone’s food , picked it up with her bare hands and binned it .
My partner got three tenderloins for $40 odd dollars , complete rip off.
Would’ve had a better experience going to McDonalds
The food was cooked amazingly and came out quicker then we had thought it would. It was all so fresh and delicious. We have decided to come back for all important dinners as we loved it so much. We even got a litter desert on the house which was amazing 💕

We waited 45 min for our first drink and nearly 2 hours for a small mains. So noisy we could hear the waitress or people on our table. Food tasted good but $42 for 1 piece of whiting and 5 chips... won’t be going back

Terrible experience. Informed Sammys it was for 40th anniversary. Booking was moved from 7.30 to 8.00 (at late notice). Arrived at 7.50 and had to wade through smokers right outside the door. Wasnt seated until 8.10. 3 waiters were hovering over us within 5 minutes (very rushed). Ordered a drink and entree and main course. Entree arrived very quickly. Before we had finished entree main course arrived. From this point no one came to see how we were going (e.g. did we want another drink etc.) At least 30-40 minutes before we had to call a waiter and ask for the dessert menu. Took 15 minutes to get this menu and as no one came to take our order we decided to leave. As we went to leave the manager arrived to ask if everything had been ok and if someone had asked us was it a special occasion. We said no. A hastily prepared plate with chocolate sauce and 2 small cream puffs arrived which we ate and left. Really poor table management/service for such a well known restaurant. Extremely disappointing.

Had our booking changed from 7.30 till 8.00. Got there and had to queue in the doorway no social distancing for 20 minutes. Then someone was yelling complaining about their food that it was cold etc.
Was supposed to be our special Christmas dinner for my husband and I and was a real disappointment. Have been many times but will not be going again.

Little annoyed that we ordered desserts then went to leave and was asked to sit back down and wait fir a surprise.
Three more pieces of desserts were brought out for Birthday surprise which was lovely but we had just eaten desserts which we were charged for. If we had known we were getting a free surprise we would not have ordered a dessert each. Plus my son is lactose intolerant and it was a caramel dairy dessert.
I think Staff could have advised us not to order desserts.

My tuna steak was overcooked, for a specialist fish restaurant, a very poor outcome, especially when paying $43 for it. I told the waiter, got a standard response, and nothing else. Vegetables and entree were very good. $200 for dinner for 2, very expensive.
Must be new owners since my last visit which was years ago.
Food was average for the price we paid, service very poor also.
