Definitely not what it used to be.
Steak sandwich and steak meal well below the usual standard.
Our meals were cooked to within an inch of their life, my sister in laws steak was grey , I complained was not offered anything , I had 5 tiny pieces of potatoe wedges with my pork belly , not enough especially paying $29. Very very disappointing
The venue was very good, the staff were very friendly and approachable. It was very quiet and relaxing. The food was presented very well and the size of the meals were good, did struggle to finish the meal.
The food was great, a very well cooked eye fillet - congratulations to the chef.
The garlic pizza bread was a great starter which was promising. Unfortunately the barramundi was terribly bland and dry and the potatoes and broccolini also flavourless.
The play area for kids is great though and it was reasonably quiet and well spaced out. Shame about the fish - I decided to avoid dessert after that, as did the other person in my party who had the barramundi.
Was still eating our starters when main meal arrived.
That was disappointing, didn’t get to finish starter as didn’t want
main meal to go cold.
All felt a bit rushed and it wasn’t even busy.
Upgrade for play area would be great :)
We had a great time though
Fantastic night at the Samford Pub. Service was outstanding and friendly. Food was fantastic. Would go again.
Its our 2nd visit and took 2 little grandchildren. The staff were very helpful and friendly. My husband and I couldn't choose so picked to mains and shared. One was the special of coral reef curry. Unbelievably delicious plenty of seafood in a beautifully balanced sauce. The confit pork belly was delicious as well.
Only criticism was one child had pizza and one fish and chips there were only about 10 chips which as they are so cheap would have expected more.
Not medium rare
Not hot either
The Samford pub is our go to place for a great steak meal at a great price on a Wednesday night. The past 2 occasions have been disappointing though, with our recent visit being Wednesday 21st April with our steaks being very chewy. Giving my jaw a workout i did manage to finish my meal, however my wife was only able to get through a quarter of her steak. A female customer sitting behind us was only able to eat half of her steak commenting that the cut of meat must have come from a very old cow.
The surroundings and ambience of this old fashioned pub is what attracts us and we will return and hopefully we get a more tender cut.
Asked for change of table - very professionally and respectfully handled and granted.
Can recommend the prawn salad!
Second time dining there and again, dismally disappointing food that was terribly overpriced.
Received the worst customer service we’ve ever experienced from one of the waiters “Doug”. Refused to bring out our entire order, started an argument with us about it (even after proven wrong with the receipt) and continued the argument for the remainder of the meal. Incredibly discourteous and disrespectful. Regular diners at all Cominskey hotels but will never return whilst “Doug” is in their employment. Utter disgrace.
Fantastic place!!! We love going on a Wednesday for steak night!
It's a good-value place to dine and better than most pubs. I'd rate it higher but I find the staff a little less than friendly/cheerful. A smile and a "how are ya?" would not go astray.
Well spaced tables and not too crowded which was pleasant. The team explained Covid process which made things more comfortable and smooth. Meals all good except steak which was way over cooked and dry - very disappointing for high end price also.
You pay for what you get. Our meals were outstanding. Staff were friendly. Easy to book a table
When making my reservation I made note of allergies, however when I discussed it with staff they didn’t seem to know and couldn’t even tell me what would be safe for me to eat. After figuring it out with the chefs (there were not many sage options for me either) my meal came out with butter on top (one of my allergies is dairy). The waiter didn’t really seem to know what to do about it so I spent $40 to eat a bit of steak. Pretty disappointing.
Food covered in thick batter. Not enjoyable at all
The battered fish and chips was terrible - not hot, it was greasy - please change the fat that you cook the food in please. I couldn't eat the food. The pizza hawaiian - couldn't see the pineapple and the meatlovers didn't even taste like meatlovers sorry.
Great food. Staff were organised. Kept patrons safe with covid restrictions. Nice atmosphere
Lovely location. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Had lunch here on Sunday and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon. Good food, excellent company, great service. Felt very comfortable. The restaurant is fun very efficiently and is well managed. I will definitely be returning.
Good as locals well make this a common meeting place for ease of access, service
Great night at our Local... good value, delicious food
Good food except my steak was too well cooked for a blue steak.
Manager was beyond rude. All our feeds came out at seperate times.
The meals are really good however the bar prices are high.
A great place to enjoy lunch with friends. Highly recommend!
Our mains were delicious, throughly enjoyed, also loved the kids area, there were no fights when the kids got restless. Ok the downside the kids meals weren’t eaten by our children and we practically had to force them to eat the side of steamed veggies (which they normally eat happily) due to their bad taste. The kids steak was over cooked and the char made it taste burnt and the kids pizza had so much tomato sauce my daughter didn’t have more than one bite of the whole thing. They wound up eating chips off our plate and a few bites of veggies. So tired of kids meals being inedible but not wanting to spend $35 on a steak for my 10 year old son. Overall we had a good night. We had the parmy and the chicken burger. The burger was unreal. Would definitely come again, but maybe feed the kids before we come so they can have a plate of chips while we enjoy the mains.
Took the grandkids and they like the large outdoor play area where they catch up with their mates and we barely see them while we eat.
The food is always OK, not cheap. While there are specials it might be good if the menu was changed more frequently - especially for regulars like us.
Always a lovely place for a family catchup- don't love the fee every time you use a card to pay for anything.
The meal was excellent for me, but my friend's steak seemed to be a bit stringy that she couldn't chew it easily. The atmosphere was good although we sat next to the playground. We will go again.
Lovely spot as well as great service with terrific meal sizes. Definitely will come back again.
However hubby and I where not happy with our meals. Hubby's risotto was dry and I had the lunch special and ended up with a bowl full of cherry tomatoes with little of the other salad. Thankfully the pork belly was yum.
We had a fabulous evening with great service, food and atmosphere. We will most definitely be coming back!
Always a great spot for lunch and dinner. Good food and prices, especially the Thursday burger and beer deal.
Have been before & was a nice experience.
This time though the guy taking food orders wasn’t very welcoming the steaks were average, the seafood basket was so greasy i could hardly eat a y of it, it was sickening. The fish was mostly batter not much fish but couldn’t eat it anyway because of grease content. I felt for the price of the meals expect a lot better than we received.
I understand it was a humid day but sitting out the front with no fans was unbearably uncomfortable.
Another great night. Thanks for the meals. Good atmosphere
