Salty's at Redondo Beach
A lot of little oversights ......requests to the waitress were forgotten....no silverware.....no plates for appetizers....was charged for a double bourbon and coke, wasn't what I ordered and was given a weak single. Drinks were left empty for extended periods. Food was pretty good but if you are paying 250 plus for a party of 3 , the experience should be spot on.
Need to have more adherence to allergy notifications... wife had a reaction by the time we got back to hotel.
Otherwise great food
The food was excellent and our server, Kyle, knew the menu and wine selections very well. Highly recommended.
Food is excellent. However our meals were barely warm when we received our food.
My fiancé and i came for brunch on Sunday. Taylor was amazing and explained the menu well as it was our first time. Our table had a beautiful view as well.
Fabulous, everything tasted wonderful!! We are making it a monthly tradition now!
We arrived at 11am on a Saturday for lunch. Sat in the lounge next to the window. Very few people in the lounge at that time so was very quiet compared to the dining area. The outside dining area was filling up quickly by the time we left. The view was fabulous. Of course, Salty's food is the best.
Service was horrible. We were seated for lunch at 2:50. We got water 30 minutes later. We were able to place our order at 3:45, received our food at 4:15. Asked for check, 3x. After we were served our initial drinks, we were never asked if we would like anything else to drink.
We sat on the deck, view and ambience was fabulous. We needed to be at the airport. I thought that allowing 1 1/2 hours for lunch was more than enough time, we made it out of the restaurant at 4:50. The deck wasn’t crowded, there were waiters standing together in the back..we saw a waiter when they took our order, delivered our order. We gave the waiter a credit card and received the receipt to sign, but didn’t itemized receipt.
We spent over $150 on lunch for 4. (Which included 2 beers). We should have been out in an hour and 15 minutes, based on how quickly we received our food, and if the service would have been better, we may have ordered more, and we definitely would have tipped more.
Thus lovely restaurant is right on the water. The food is wonderful and the staff is friendly and efficient.
I called ahead to discuss vegetarian options. The CSR offered to have the waitstaff present options to me at the table. I stated I didn't want this to happen, explaining it causes unwanted attention, and this was why I was calling ahead of time. I was very clear she should not note this on my reservation and stated I would simply be ordering the impossible burger.
Immediately after being seated, our server advised she'd be back to talk about the vegetarian specials which were later explained.
Our team loves the brunch at Salty’s for the variety of great seafood. Between the crab, oysters, blackened salmon, and pesto clams we could eat all day. Often service at brunch is spotty, but our group was really well taken care of this time.
I have to admit, the prices were a little scary, but the food and service were as good as could be expected. We lived in Federal Way in the 90s and always wanted to go to Salty's at Redondo, but it was totally out of our price range. We returned to the Seattle area to visit our daughter who had recently moved there, and it was my birthday week, so I decided we should splurge and go to Salty's for my birthday dinner. They did not disappoint in any way (although the prices will probably preclude us from a return visit). The food was excellent and our server was very attentive, although not in an annoying way.
Food is excellent! Make sure to make a reservation
Only our 2nd visit but probably won't make the trek again anytime soon. Wait staff was very pleasant but wrong appetizer was served, drinks weren't refilled, soup came with dinner and was barely warm. Fish tacos had very little fish and rice/beans had no flavor. The view was spectacular and again the wait staff very nice. There were very few diners so I don't think being overly busy was the issue. We brought out if town guests but no one raved about the food. May have been an off night so will try again down the road.
Celebrating quality family time plus my life. The hostess was very friendly and greeted everyone who walked in with such genuine smile. We were seated by a very sweet hostess- Brandi I think her name. We were seated out in the deck great view. Waiter was friendly but seemed pre occupied. We ordered our drinks and appetizers and bread. One of the appetizer plate was dirty and we asked if he can give us a new one. He seemed irritated but we still thanked him. The girls ordered their food and we weren’t quite ready. We asked him if he can place the the girls orders and come back to us and he said he could not do that. So we said alright so we just choose quickly. We didn’t see him for quite a long time until he dropped off our drinks, side orders, and appetizers. We asked him if he can take our family photo-that was a wrong thing to do. I ordered a bottle of wine took a while and he brought us the wrong bottle in apologetic he left and brought us the right one. We didn’t see him for a while until our main course was coming out. My daughter asked if she can have honey mustard and he said they didn’t have any so she asked if she can please get ranch he said okay. 10mins later no ranch so I walked in the dining area and asked if he can get us the ranch and he looked at me so irritated that I interrupted him from sorting the silverware. We asked for him to bag our left over (got home and seemed like he just didn’t want to pack out left overs). He gave us our check without even asking if we cared for any deserts. We saw him around more when he was waiting for me to give him my card. I ended up speaking to Brandi. I asked her does Salty’s at Redondo not offer deserts or is it because of the Holiday? She explained to us that our waiter was supposed to have informed us that last call for drinks and deserts. She was very sweet. I choose Salty’s because of excellent food and service. I told her we will definitely come back but it will be a while due to the worse service.
We made a reservation through open table, arrived 15 min early to a very empty restaurant and stood around until our reservation time. Service was fair not great like we’re used to with all of the past places we’ve booked through your service. I personally thought they were over priced for the quality of food that came out to our table. Not a five star experience.
We’ve been going to Salty’s since I can remember. The food has always been fantastic and the service has always been excellent!
It was excellent! The waiter was superb and the food even better. Thank you!
I take all my guests here for special celebrations! Summer on the deck is the best!!
I loved that they saved outside tables for people with reservations as well! great experience!!
Enjoyed the food. Waiter was attentive. A bit pricy, a bit noisy, but thoroughly enjoyed our food
No waiter for our table and waited 20 minutes before we snagged a waiter to start drinks, waiter was great once we had one
Perfect Sunday Brunch with family and friends, food was awesome, great variety, lots of seafood, typical breakfast options, prime rib, chocolate desert fountain, excellent brunch!
excellent experience mixing amazing, and I mean amazing seafood with creativity, freshness and authenticity. i love how the server divulges the ingredients of each dish's preparation making it enticing as can be. (lavender honey salmon? oh yes, i'm doing that at home next time on both salmon and sallops, it was wowsers). the seaside quaintness of the building felt like cape cod yet uniquely PNW with the view looking west over to Vashon Island. And so so so so beautiful. Relaxing, lovely, and beyond delicious. I wish i lived next door, i'd go every day. Oh, did i mention FREE convenient parking? So rare these days.
The ambiance was excellent although the food was just okay. $42 for a steak was overpriced based on the quality. It was tough and I ordered it medium rare and it was mostly medium with little red in the center. For that price, the waiter should have asked me to cut into it. The cocktail was very expensive - $18. I asked for it to be served very cold and it came to me warm. I didn't enjoy it at all.
Not sure if I would return.
Wonderful staff that were very willing to make changes to our meals to accommodate dietary restrictions (no dairy, no wheat) without saying they had to consult the chef first!
Outstanding as always.
Wonderful food. Great view. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Very overpriced menu, for quality received. Food was very blah, filet mignon had no real taste. Asparagus for all four of us wash mushy. I dont know how you can ruin asparagus, if you are paying attention. Calamari had breading that was greasy, and very small quantity to share. Service staff was attentive, but used odd expressions that seemed very disingenuous. Inside of restaurant is very dated, tired looking. I know there are not a lot of choices in Federal Way for quality restaurants, and this is in a view location at Redondo beach, but I can not recommend this restaurant.
We were looking forward to celebrating a birthday and Father’s Day. We made reservations at Anthony’s and changed to Saltys thinking it would be an amazing dinner on the water.
I requested a window table and when they tried to seating us it was not a window. We told the hostess we requested a window seat and we were next to be seated and there was an empty window table. She left us standing there in the middle of the restaurant to go check. She came back a few minutes later and said they could not give us the window table. We went back up front to talk with the front of house and she said sorry but we do not have anything.
We told her we would wait but she made it sound like it would be a long time and that we could wait in bar. Ok so we went to bar and found a great table.
Front of the house major FAIL! I’m pretty sure we will not be back! To many other great options
It is not a facet of review writing when a demand directive for a minimum of 50 characters is placed upon the customers who is to write the review!
The food was good, our server was lovely but it was a very expensive meal. The main entrees seemed quite high! I realize that seafood is expensive though but our dinner for 3 with tip was almost $300. I would go back but next time only for some chowder and a beer!
My wife and I enjoyed a Father's Day Dinner. It was one of the specials a 10 oz New York strip steak that had a demi glaze with mushrooms and onions sauteed , accompanied by mash potatoes and asparagus. And a pastry that was made to look like a crab. Very well presented and tasted wonderful.
The deck was not too full so we had very good service. The prime rib was overcooked and tough . The crab flavor was so-so. The eggs Benedict were really good and freshly cooked. There was not a good selection of foods to choose from.
Wow, $63 pp (Father’s Day), running out of food, often waiting for replenishment, overcooked Chef’s Special, undercooked blackened salmon, some crab tasteless, special additions for the holiday were hot dogs and bratwurst, $4.25 for juice... we’ve been trying to see and sense the value by returning on occasion but we are just not feelin’ it. We’ve been brunch customers for 10 years. We used to justify the higher price for quality, deliciousness, service, etc. Service still stands!!! (Thank you!) Was additional seating added or are we just seated where we can BARELY get in and out of our seats?? The competition is pricing lower and provides for more space with similar (if not better, I hate to say it) quality. I am unsure I can recommend highly anymore. Folks, if interested in brunch buffet on the water, weigh your options, there are many.
Sunday brunch quite good, and on special days, like Father's Day, exceptional although priced a little higher. Fresh crab, oysters, etc, as well as hot dishes and Prime rib. Drinks like mimosa and bloody Mary's are extra, and fairly expensive.
Like most Salty's, the view is wonderful.
Service could be better the last two times. At the buffet, the server took the empty plate from the table as usual, but took the fork as well, but told me she would bring a fresh one. I went back to the buffet and returned and sat for quite awhile until I finally caught her attention and she apologized, realizing immediately what I needed and returned shortly with a fork. Same thing when I asked for another napkin.
The previous visit was for dinner, and the service was so bad we decided not to return for dinner there. We were never offered bread though other tables had it, and finally asked and the person said they would tell our server, but the bread did not appear until we were nearly done with dinner. I ordered a glass of white wine and the pour looked like barely more than 4 oz, and was not cheap.
Father’s Day brunch was very nice, our server Andrew was great! Our busses was excellent as well. The food was great, but it is so expensive! I think maybe there could be a couple options, such as with or without seafood, etc. To cut down on expense for patrons. I’d visit more often if it wasn’t for the cost. Thank you!
The Brunch might be the best you can get in Seattle. Everything was fresh and well prepared. The staff was great and service was spot on. A great way to spend a Sunday morning dining out.
I have a hard time with this place. I want it to be more than what it is. The menu is so over priced for what they serve and how it’s presented. I love the location. They try, I know they do... In the past year, we have gone twice. Once for lunch, once for dinner. Both times I had a nice time with my company, however I just wish their main menu of food options was better. Even the wording/verbiage on the menu is so basic and boring, it doesn’t set the tone for fine dining. A few tweaks and this place could be as wonderful as the Seattle location and other restaurants of this higher end level.
Hi Alisha, Thank you for providing such honest feedback! I will pass it on to our Chef and Marketing Team.
