Great location out on the water, you'll have views wherever you are sitting.
The food was excellent, we (mum, dad & the twins) had Tapas and Fish and chips for lunch one day and the next went back for Pizza and Tapas. There is a good variety of Tapas and several pizzas, the mains choices were not extensive but there was something for everyone. All of the food was very good quality.
There are heaps of beers on tap, I believe some brewed on site. Needless to say I tried several. All good! Good choice of wine.
The staff seemed young, it's a bit hard to tell with the masks at present. They were very good. Very friendly and provided excellent service. There are no long waits to order your next drink or get another bottle of water.
It is not real cheap, if you are on a budget mid $20s for a pizza and $10 for a beer can be a stretch. But compared to Melb prices I thought it was reasonable.
It is noisy were we were sitting down stairs, there may be quieter options, we didn't mind but if you are sensitive to noise it cld be an issue.
I don' t think you can go wrong at this place, we loved it and will return.
We enjoyed everything here. Great food beautiful view but the noise! Install something anything to cut the noise down so we can enjoy the lovely food and beautiful view and excellent service
Review is what I put on Trip Advisor:
Spectacular views and atmosphere, Family friendly, Great staff, and Wonderful Amazing fresh food, our party of seven thoroughly enjoyed our experience on Sat 16th Jan and I must say not a negative comment with our meals and pleasantly surprised by the affordability, will definitely be back keep up the good work.
Jim Moore & Family.
Food took 2 hours to come to the table (despite there being lots of empty tables so it was not busy).
Water was warm and service poor and rude. I was greeted with annoyance when I asked if our table could have Cutlery to eat with.
Overall very disappointing Experience.
The food was good.
However unfortunately my good was mixed up and as a celiac I was given non- Gluten free meals when ordered.
The mix up was quickly picked up by one of the restaurant staff members but I had already consumed a portion of meal.
Delicious non the less, just disappointing that an allergy wouldn’t be more highly cautioned.
The ambience of this restaurant doesn’t match its location. The concrete floor and high ceilings make it very loud & this is made worse by the loud music played throughout the restaurant. The food was relatively tasty and reasonably priced but I wouldn’t go again given how loud the restaurant was.
Lovely restaurant. Lovely food. Great service. Only negative it’s quite expensive and no seniors discount available
Dinner at Saltwater on 15 Jan was excellent. The food & drinks service was first class, the menu was modest in size but the food was very good. And the Covid protocols were observed
Beautiful spot, great views, food was delicious. Friendly staff & great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Very nice food and great service. Terrific views.
Long wait for simple food! Very noisy. Attention to detail not the same as it was a year ago! Need staff for take more notice of paying customers
Great food, excellent service, wonderful views and a great venue to catch up with best friends.
We dined here last Sunday as well as Thursday, very nice restaurant and staff are lovely but the menu needs a change
Great Food, Great atmosphere, Beautiful water views
This restaurant is ideally located right on the wharf. We had a lunch booking and it was very busy. The no fuss menu offered something for everyone and it was of good standard. The staff were amazing. Well trained, young and enthusiastic. I would happily go again and have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to our friends.
Broad menu. Tapas items were tasty and ample size. Service was great. Prices not too bad.
The location is the calling card.
But it’s not enough for me to return 😐. Couldn’t complain about the waiting staff. Communication was great. The atmosphere very noisy. The menu very limited. It really needs a look at. The prices 🤭, just didn’t match what you received on your plate. It took over an hour for our mains. Sorry 😞
Great location, the food we had was pretty good. We shared the calamari, cauliflower, sliders and had a bowl of chips. The service is terrible. Too many untrained young wait staff who are friendly but don’t really know what they are doing. Been here a number of times and always the same. Wine list average with only house wine available by the glass
Waited an hour for food Had to chase the order ourselves
Stale focaccia Poor quality
The pizza looked good but we didn’t order that
The staff were lovely
Food was great service excellent price on the high side but food quality made up for it only complaint was the noise level was hard to talk with so much background noise but even so would recommend this restaurant
Great food, friendly staff, we were off to a great start despite the ridiculously noisy atmosphere and then things went a bit down hill. Took 30mins for a bottle of wine to appear for a table of 5 + the additional 15mins trying to flag down a waiter, we finally had success on the second food drop and a visit to the bar to work out what exactly was going on and water well that took even longer I think that arrived as we were leaving. Food was delicious but also slow to come out and poorly timed we had one persons main finished before all the other mains arrived!
Felt rushed out due to 2hr dining limit. Food options limited.
Lovely food and wine in a stunning setting. Thanks for a great night. This is a special place!!
Took over an hour to receive meal. No table service after initial water provided.
Have been there before and have not been disappointed. The staff are fabulous and the food is delicious.
We’ll be back😁 Plus I never get sick of the view
Terrible experience sadly. We waited 90min for food before walking out.
Stunning location and view but otherwise nothing positive to say.
Beautiful location, however service needed to be better managed. Took a long time for food to arrive and we seemed to have many waiters serving us. Food was very good.
Our experience was appalling. Once seated and given our menus our waitress never returned. I had to get up from our table to find someone to take our order. Then after waiting for an hour I had to get up again to find out how much longer our meal would take only to be told it’s on its way - 45 min later our food arrived. We were further disappointed to find that our GF fish and chips were missing chips! It was at this point we spoke to the manager. They did not charge us for our meal. A very disappointing evening.
Nice spot. Little over priced for the quality. Limited menu. Meatballs not a hit. Slow service but Good spot for drinks
Found this place on our holiday and ended up visiting twice because we loved it so much. Food was phenomenal as well as the view, staff were so lovely, only slight complaint was that drinks took a long time to come our, often after food but honestly my new favourite place on the island!!!
Newly reopened January 1st as a Bistro and brewery and ( hopefully after Covid) a bar. On line booking was very efficient. First, a cheerful group of young and enthusiastic people serving. Food was quite good and generally reasonably priced. Between three of us we had calimari (tender and delicious),Mussels in a broth (nice but the broth was a bit too salty) and a seafood fettachini which was excellent. In fact the seafood pasta dish first brought to the table was really spicy (the menu didn’t mention chile) and the recipient cannot eat chile, but it was no problem to replace it with a dish without chile, and all done with a smile. A bit slow on serving second drinks (particularly when very young staff could not take an alcohol order) but that will resolve as the restaurant gets into swing. The menu other than what we had looks good, the young staff are a delight and even if drink service was a bit slow the lovely view made time slip away. When it came the Saltwater own brewed Saltwater Pilsner was great as was their own IPA.
I would recommend it and will be back soon. Am sure any teething problems will be resolved (unfortunately the EFTPOS machine had crashed the day we came so you had to pay in cash or direct debit and I had left my phone home so a collection took place for the cash amongst people I had planned to have as guests). That of course could have happened to anyone. Best wishes to Saltwater. I am sure they will do well.
Nice to have it open again. Food is good and drinks are well priced. Suitable for all customers. Great views of Westernport Bay. One suggestion would be for the staff to clear the tables more often when walking past.
Overall a good experience.
We had our first dining experience at Saltwater this Summer and I must say it was outstanding. Incredible styling, fantastic service, impeccably clean, impressive menu and the food was to die for. I’ll be back for sure.
Service slow and seemed disorganised with inexperienced service staff. Food wasn't what was expected and servings very small. I ordered a salad with chicken and bowl very light on the salad. Coffee good. Focus appears to be on pizza.
Delicious tapas and amazing views. Very surprised the distillery wasn’t functioning during peak season considering hospitality has been slow since March due to covid.
Also the staff need to offer dessert before kitchen closes. We ordered the Nutella pizza however were notified kitchen had closed which we were so disappointed! Normally the wait staff let us know beforehand to ensure we order. Just means the business is losing out on more orders
We really enjoyed the food at Saltwater but my husband and I were disappointed that we had to wait 25 minutes to get cutlery let alone a drink.
When our waiter arrived he was lovely. He was very polite and apologetic for the waiting time.
It was very noisy in the restaurant and hard to hear each other talking at times. My husband and I have been here 3 times now and it's always the same experience.
Great restaurant but annoying you have to wait so long for service.
Not being able to ring to book a table, or as a local pop in to book a table wasn't great. The food was ok.The view and location was the selling point for me. If the the pizza tasted better ( made to a higher standard) you would be onto a winner.
I booked Saltwater based on the high percentage of good reviews, only to see quite a number of poor reviews that came up on the day that we went to the restaurant, which made me very nervous. However, we were not disappointed at all with Saltwater. The staff were proactive attentive and friendly, even though we were on the mezzanine floor. We had muscles, fettuccine marinara, and calamari. The calamari was perfectly tender and not rubbery. The muscles were fresh out of the bay, so the sauce was a little salty from the sea water. My husband had the Saltwater House Shiraz and I had the Saltwater house Rose. Both were surprisingly good quality wines, for house wines, I was particularly impressed by the Rose. Further to this, the view of the bay and San Remo is stunning. I highly recommend Saltwater. We will certainly be back.
If you’re seated at your correctly booked table with the beautiful view it is a beautiful setting. Unfortunately the venue is so loud my husband and myself couldn’t hear one another talk. For the price of the food compared to the quality and portions, unfortunately we won’t be returning anytime soon. We ate here last year and even though it was loud then, it was still a beautiful outlook and good food, unfortunately something has changed because it isn’t the same. The service is slow, food took an hour to arrive and dessert another almost 30 minutes (which we ended up getting take away).
Great customer service.
Friendly and helpful staff.
The pizzas and seafood dishes were really nice.
The wine was perfect.
Will definitely be back.
