Salt Seafood & Oyster Bar
First time at this restaurant but not the last time. Food and service was great.
I loved the Decor And the whole atmosphere!! Would recommend (:
Birthday and the waiter placed a candle in the cake. Nice touch. Excellent food and very attentive waiter.
Took a friend to celebrate her birthday. Delicious food and beautiful atmosphere. Will go again
Food, Service, and Atmosphere were excellent. Our wait staff (Jonathan and Janette) were exceptional.
Excellent!!!! We will back soon. Everything was fresh and delicious.
Good food and service
First right hand table upon entering dining area was way too cold and breezy from front door. Upon being seated, the table was sitting too close to the table behind it. My husband and daughter had to move it to position. We were were not offered a choice of seating. The restaurant was not busy day after thanksgiving. Waiter very polite , friendly and knowledgeable!
We had a large party on a weekend evening. Our server was Jeanette. She was outstanding. She had great suggestions and made sure the dinner was paced out well. The food was delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meal. My guests were impressed the experience.
The staff was super friendly starting from the host, then the GM making sure my wife’s birthday dinner went super well. The waiter Vincent was detail oriented, attentive to our needs and performed extremely well with taking our order, making sure water was refilled, and firing up our meals at the RIGHT time. We barely had to wait for our courses. Great job to the team. The manager even put flowers on our table to give it that extra touch for my wife’s birthday. I appreciate you for that.
It was our daughter’s 27th birthday and she was greeted with a bouquet of fresh flowers (beautiful touch)! Our server Mike was so knowledgeable about everything including wine selection. The manager was very cordial and stopped to chat for several minutes with us. The food was delicious, the atmosphere/setting was amazing and the overall staff seemed to work as a team. We will definitely be going back!
Outstanding food and fabulous service!!!!
From the moment you walk in, the attentiveness of the staff is outstanding; the friendly manner and knowledge of the wait staff is amazing. The food was excellent! Fabulous Manhattan cocktail! Can't wait to return!
Great food!Great service!Cleanest public restroom that I have ever seen. Will definitely be returning to this wonderful restaurant
Eddie is a excellent waiter, the food is fabulous and the ambience is inviting. BEST RESTAURANT IN NEW BRUNSWICK!!
EXCELLENT! Food was incredible, and they had an extensive bourbon selection as well as an excellent wine list. I highly recommend. You MUST make a reservation here - they book up fast.
This was my first time at this restaurant. Service was wonderful food was outstanding. I highly recommend it.
My first time at Salt and I'll definitely go back. Everything was fresh and delicious. Appreciated the host seating us in the front of the house as I had (elatedly) requested. What prompted me to write, however, was the outstanding service we received from Mabson (that's the name on the receipt). He was informative (knew the whole menu in detail), helpful (made suggestions when asked), seemed to sense when we might have a question and appeared -- in short, we all agreed we hadn't experienced that level of service in a while.
We will definitely be back.
AMAZING!!!!! you must try the halibut and the grilled octopus on the small plates!
Salt keeps on delivering. By far best seafood restaurant I’ve been to in NJ and worth the price! Great menu and great service.
I was blown away at the excellent quality of seafood in a town adjacent to mine. I will surely recommend Salt and return soon.
Salt is unlike most seafood restaurants. All the fish is wild, fresh, and they have a mixed selection to appease everyone. It's a vibrant scene with a big bar area which includes about a dozen high top tables. There is a center raw bar with seats and seafood on ice. Considering the quality and portions, Salt is definitely a good value. The fish is extremely fresh and the preparations are unique. There is a large selection of small plates to share, many entrees and many specials. The charred octopus and the roasted oysters were sublime. Of our entrees, the Halibut stood out. Perfectly prepared, moist and flaky with a scallion pesto that I wanted to order a mug of. The wine list is small but good with sections from California, France and even New Zealand. Whites definitely outweigh the reds. They have a list of higher end wines as well. I'd have to say the glass prices are a bit steep. $14 for Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc which is around that price per bottle in stores. The bottle price is $42 which is not too bad. Instead of a glass, I'd suggest the half bottles which are a good value. As an example, the Ferrari-Carano Fume Blanc is only $14. My only complaint would be the seats of the bar area hightops. They are metal stools with a wood seat and are extremely uncomfortable. The seat is hard, slippery and a bit short and the back has poor ergonomic design.
Farewell to friends. Moving cross country. The dining experience was phenomenal. Was wondering why they texted twice to make sure we were coming. A seat here is a treasure. Food was beyond expectation, service was patient and ambiance was glorious! First time here and traveled a good distance but would definitely come back if we find ourselves here on the east coast
This restaurant is AMAZING. The staff is super nice , the food is delicious and comes out hot and the drinks are perfect. Could not ask for a better dining experience.
When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted and promptly seated. Our salads were crisp and delicious. For our main course we both tried a fish dish which we found to be informal but stylish. Our dessert of warm chocolate cookie and ice-creme was savory. They do have a notable wine list and our Cabernet did not disappoint as it was robust. However, the wait staff lurks around and remove your dishes even before you are done eating. We are not sure we will return because we felt rushed and was asked to sit at the bar once we paid our bill. The restaurant needed our seat and seemed to have a time limit as to how long you could sit at their tables. Not a good feeling after a delicious meal.
Fish was dry, service was very slow. Not nearly as good as I'd expected
Dinner for 4 before the Theatre. Had drinks at the bar to start and they were excellent! Thanks to Tolu! It is a small restaurant and we were seated at a small table for 4 people right under a ledge to the oyster bar which was a little uncomfortable. Started with appys: oysters and crab cocktail. Both nicely chilled and fresh. Served with many hot sauce options which was a pleasant surprise, no apple cider vinegar though. Dinners: Seafood risotto and Red Snapper from the menu and Bacon Grouper from the special menu. All very good yet smaller portions than expected, more like small plates (small plates are available but we thought we were ordering dinners). Ended with dessert: chocolate torte and chocolate chip cookie w/ ice cream and regular coffee. Both desserts were good, however the coffee tasted like it was the bottom of the pot that was sitting for hours. Fortunately a second waiter came to the rescue and made a fresh pot and it was very good. Thanks Scott! The restaurant got busy towards the end of our dinner and service diminished overall, especially when we were ready to depart for the theatre so take this into consideration. I would consider the bar area tables and order small plates on our next visit or request a banquette table. Overall the ambience was beautiful, clean and calming and would return/recommend.
Exceptional. Unquestionably the best restaurant in Central New Jersey. Wonderful oysters, great selection of fish, honest cocktails and great service. Who could ask for more?
Stumbled upon Salt when in the area for an event.
Already planning the 1 hour drive back to share with friends.
Walking in the host was very attentive and friendly! We sat at the bar while we waited for our table, the staff was incredibly sweet and very consistent. Definitely would come back ! The food was sensational !
My wife and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night and had an amazing time. We made a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server, Jonathon, was friendly, attentive, and well informed about the menu and specials for the evening. He selected his preference of east and west coast oysters, which were amazing and the main course options we selected were delicious. We tried the red snapper and the black sea bass which were both prepared well and appropriately portioned.
We will absolutely return to this restaurant for dinner and drinks with friends!!
Ambiance was good, busy on a weekend visit. Food was very salty, I expected Salt to relate to the oceanic cuisine rather the saltiness of the food itself.
Excellent food & service. Very nice place. On the pricier side but we're worth it.
We invited friends from North Jersey to Salt and they were not disappointed. The food was delicious and our waiter, Vincent, had a good sense of humor. He was very knowledgeable about the choice of oysters, had recommendations on menu options and was very attentive. Everything from our experience at the bar, while waiting for our table, through the end of our meal was top notch. We will be back again and again.
Vibe and service were excellent. Perfect for a special night out. Make a reservation in the weekends. It was packed. Food was good. Portions are modest. We asked to share a salad and they split it for us in the kitchen — this is a nice touch that I appreciate when we are also buying drinks and meals.
The staff here is what you would expect from a top 100 restaurant in the world! Attentive, but not overbearing. From the hosts to the manager, everyone made us feel like were regulars. Seafood is fresh. They are open 6 days a week and receive seafood deliveries each day. Everything was Cooked perfectly, I cannot find a flaw in this place. Will definitely come back. We had:
6 oysters, burrata salad, seafood risotto, seafood pappardelle, bruleed cheesecake and a cookie dessert. That and a bottle of wine. Priced below what you would spend for this level of service and conveniently located across the street from a parking garage. We like out wine, and we’re pleasantly surprised to see their selection matches many of the bottles we’ve had. The manager even allowed me to go into the wine vault and educated me on some wines that I had not tried before.
Oysters was unbelievably delicious! Seafood tower was plentiful. The drinks, especially if you are a cognac fan, were amazing. Truly a great gem right in the heart of N.B.! Cheers to Salt for putting such a strong effort in to delivering such high quality seafood! Loved it!
Everything was great except the table was too small for the two of us. Was there for anniversary and the knew it. Gave us a tiny table in the corner that was more for 1 rather than 2.
Usually the food is the star of a restaurant but I can’t say enough about the staff ! This past Saturday night had the opportunity to return to Salt Seafood and Oyster Bar , immediately greeted by the most attentive host , followed by 2 over the top bartenders who were quick with the greeting and service and finally our waiter who was just so pleasant ! The whole staff was fantastic on top of some excellent food ( perfectly shucked oysters ) ! If you’ve never been there and you live fish it’s definitely worth the visit !
Excellent oysters and the sesame tuna special!
