Afternoon tea was excellent, enjoyed by both the children and adults.
Service was excellent and many thanks to the lady who served us and made the occasion special.
Fresh sandwiches, delicious cakes and scones; good service. Tea would go bitter after sometime, so had a to change it a few times, got to try a few different kinds. Would definitely return.
A wonderful experience. One of our party was vegan and, amazingly for afternoon tea, a delicious meal was served to her and to the non vegans. What an effort. Highly recommended. And the service was also exceptional.
Tea was tasty with the gluten free option looking exactly like the regular tea. The service was friendly and most attentive. A downpour made the conservatory quite noisy but that is impossible to control!
The food was wonderful. Both of us agreed some of the best food we have had in a fair while. The Sunday Lunch menu was short but gave fair amount of options and everything we had was excellent. The staff were polite and friendly, and the dining room is a great space. We will definitely be back.
Food lovely and service with a smile in a beautiful building.
Dear PamD , Thank you for sharing your comments with us regarding your recent visit to Salomons Estate. We do value feedback from our guests as it is the only way we can truly improve. Although I was pleased you enjoyed elements of your lunch, I was sorry to learn that your experience did not completely meet your expectations. We were a little dissapointed with the beef as it was very red...we were not asked how we wanted it cooked...which was a real pity as the rest of the meal was excellent
Dear IanH, Thank you for taking the time to leave Salomons Estate a review after your recent experience. We always value feedback from our guests. Firstly, may I start by offering my sincere apologies for your experience failing to meet your expectations. This is by no means the standard we aim to reach and for this I am truly sorry. Please be ensured I am internally dealing with these matters with the relevant departments. Kind regards, Nick Moore Operations Director
Our first visit to the new ‘pub’ and dining room. I wouldn’t say it is very pubby but overall a clean and comfortable environment. Food was good. Soft drink/non alc selection could be better. 3 courses for the price of 2 should be advertised clearly that you have to mention it when booking and not on arrival. Otherwise a nice Sunday lunch that’s local.

Solomans is a beautiful venue and all the staff were very pleasant and the food was nice. Unfortunately as it caters to so many events (to which I have been to some and they were brilliant) it seems they neglect the restaurant when they are on. We were the only 2 people in the whole restaurant but it took an hour to get our food (and we ordered the same dish) and that was after chasing them, once the order for food and drinks had been made we felt completely forgottenabout, such a shame.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the food. Very friendly and professional staff. It was rather noisy when we were there due to a Santa Claus children’s entertainer in one of the next rooms, and we had no issue with that! A very interesting place with a small, free museum from which we learned a lot. Definitely worth a visit!
Food was good but the ambience and service was fair. Would not recommend or use again.
Awful to be honest. I never right reviews when they are bad as I know everyone has an off day but that was awful.
Loved the evening. The only disappointment was the mushroom crumble which both my friend and I had. It was very salty and far too cheesy. The crumble top was not really hot or crispy.
Just loved the lamb kofta and my husband loved the brie and the fish and chips.
The setting is peaceful and the grounds well kept. The parking is excellent. The food was on a par with a very good pub. But the whole lunch was totally ruined by a spoilt brat of a child with parents who were clueless regarding parenting. The child screamed, cried and shouted demands throughout the meal; spoiling the dining experience for the rest in the room. We ate our meal and left just as quickly as we could.
Exceeded expectations. Beautiful surroundings - great views of gardens, mature trees and wider countryside, magnificent building (bonus of a free museum), very friendly and accommodating staff.
We found the staff to be very curtious especially young ? Louisa. The Guinness was just how you would expect it to be. We were both made to feel very comfortable. Our room was fantastic and clean, well done house staff. Reception girls done everything possible to sort out room, myself being disabled. Well recommended to anyone .
I have had several meals at Salamons EP&D recently and have been very satisfied with the food and service. Well done!
This is our 3rd visit for dinner, the standard of the food and the level of service are excellent. We expect to return again soon.
The location is absolutely gorgeous. The access to the restaurant is through a reception area then through some rooms and corridors. There is a bar area with tables and a further dining room for conference dinners and eventually the conservatory eating area of about ten table placings. The conservatory looks out over the terrace and over the lawns and trees, westward facing. We were the only early evening guests midweek and so it was very quiet, with no ambient music. The service was excellent and cheerful, and the menu was relatively straightforward and priced mid-high. Starters at £5-6, mains £10-18. Sea bass and steak were our choices, with a bread dipping nibble before. Portions were fine. However, steak was not good, had to leave most of it, might have been old or bad cut. Mix up in sides had an extra brought out as offer. Fish was ok, if a bit dry, but nicely presented with greens. Blackberry fool was fool with a berry sauce on top. In general, the thought of such a location being under used seemed to reflect the dinner on offer - nothing special and that's a shame because it could be an amazing situation.
I do love David Salomons having used it over many years for birthday parties funerals Anniversaries pre Christmas lunches and Christmas day lunches. I would recommend it and indeed have done for several funerals as the food is very nice and lovely surroundings views etc. I have always found the staff very friendly and helpful. The lunch I had recently with my son was tasty but could have done with some crisps or something with the southern fried chicken panini as we were still hungry afterwards, online the obviously out of date menu did indeed show Kent crisps with it. However having said that the ambience service etc makes up for it and I would come again.
We went as a party of 8 for a family Sunday lunch and found that there was hardly anyone around when we arrived, which concerned us to start with but to be honest this has been one of the most wonderful experiences. The location and surroundings are obviously stunning, the food was great and we could not fault the service which was just perfect! To think that everywhere else was fully booked made us think that this was Tunbridge Wells’ best kept secret, not for long I suspect 😀....
Another lovely meal at Saloman's celebrating family birthdays over Sunday lunch. Beautiful venue, good service and nice food for the value.
Would definitely recommend
Very slow service over an hour waiting for chicken strips and lots of lettuce 🥬
Lunch menu very limited.
This venue is full of interest and very different from the run of the mill places to eat. The history of the Salomons family is fascinating and the whole estate seems lost in time which is quite delightful. Although there were a couple of things that did not work out in line with what we thought we had ordered it made no difference to our overall feeling that our lunch time food and drinks were well served, freshly made and good value. The menu choice was not huge but there is something for everyone and we left after a short walk through the well kept grounds feeling that it had been a very good choice for something to eat.
Menu in daytime menu could offer more variety. Food very nice however & were prepared to tweak according to preference.
I went for an evening meal with my brother and father this week 16th May and I have to say the staff on duty in the bar and waiting the table were very friendly & attentive. We were given a lovely table in a gorgeous room and the food we ordered was very tasty and extremely good value.
We will definitely be returning and looking forward to trying the Sunday lunch next time.
Rebecca Belton & her colleagues are doing a fantastic job.
We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary one quiet Friday tea time, only 2 people in there, service was excellent and really made what could have been a very quiet experience a great experience, food was good and the value was excellent. Thank you.
Dear Tasmaniandevil, Thank you for leaving Salomons Estate a lovely review. I am so pleased to learn you found the food great and excellent value for money, and you loved the service. I have passed on your kind comments to the rest of the team. We look forward to welcoming you back very soon. Kind Regards, Salomons Estate
This was my second visit, with different friends and both times service has been excellent. No one rushes you or hangs around the table, but the moment you require anything the waiters or waitresses are there immediately . It was also great to be able to sit outside after our meal to enjoy the lake and the panoramic views.
Dear MaryT, Thank you for leaving Pub & Dining Rooms such a lovely review. I have passed your kind comments onto the team, we look forward to welcoming you back to Pub & Dining Rooms for your third visit very soon! Kind Regards, Pub & Dining Rooms at Salomons Estate.
Lovely conservatory area, although perhaps a little hot on leather seats during a heatwave. Food was okay but everything seemed a bit dry (real lack of gravy with the roast, for example). Overall would come back again but perhaps not for a roast!
Dear RebeccaS, Thank you for leaving Salomons Estate a review. It is always a pleasure to read about customers experiences. I am delighted to read that you loved the stunning conservatory overlooking the beautiful grounds. I am sorry that you felt the roast was dry, I will pass your feedback on. We look forward to welcoming you back to Salomons Estate soon. Kindest Regards, Pub & Dining Rooms at Salomons Estate.
Poor menu. Rather dull choices.
I’m vegi but do eat fish occasionally. Risotto was only choice for vegis, have some imagination! It’s so last year!! I reluctantly had fish n chips as I don’t eat fish much. Batter was completely tasteless and not even crunchy. Had to peel off and leave. (My companion had the same and did the same) Chips clearly oven chips, could do better at home. And frozen peas.… Best bit was homemade tartar sauce and the fish was ok, bit dry, not as good as the fish n chip shop to be honest.
Such a wonderful settling and great place for early evening drink but wouldn’t come back for food unless there was some changes to the menu and more thought put into it tbh.
I generally never give negative reviews as I’m easy to please but was v disappointed with my meal.
Let me know when things change as I’m local and would happily recommend you to many locals if the food was better.

Beautiful setting and grounds. Great food and wine. Excellent service and I would certainly recommend Solomon's Estate to anyone. Whether it be a lunch or afternoon tea in the conservatory.

Lovely staff- very friendly & helpful. Food was excellent & really liked the sunny conservatory. There was a family with some noisy children but after they left, noise level was fine.

Beautiful setting in the conservatory for afternoon tea.. only would have preferred to sit at a proper table rather then a coffee table

We recently had Sunday Lunch here and the were really impressed with the food, service and surroundings. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating and overall the lunch was great value for money. We'll definitely be back!
Main restaurant/bar rather gloomy; for Sunday lunch conservatory very good except in November not warm - wife needed to wear winter coat and two elderly ladies at another table stressed the coldness of the place.
Unusual menu - but for the pork roast the crackling was very over-baked and we would have preferred the system whereby vegetables are left in a heated tray on the table to help ourselves. The vegetarian meal was an acceptable dish although the potato potage(?) was overdone.
We booked for 1.15 pm, arrived at 1- pm. and had a soup course at around 1.15 but then waited until after 2pm for the main course; many very helpful staff on duty but clearly the slowness of the proceedings was due either to a poor kitchen system or serving system. One person took our order, another took away the non-required cutlery, another brought rolls (fluffy fresh tasteless white rolls) and on request, another brought one small cube of butter each. So no shortage of waiting staff, simply no efficient system in place.
The alcoholic drinks available, despite the place calling itself a pub-restaurant, did not include any real ale or beers on tap - not even Guiness.
Despite the above, we actually enjoyed ourselves, with the added pleasure of walking round the little museum and going into the "science" theatre venue. And the parking is really good.
