Outstanding food and ambiance
Food was amazing! Best miso, lovely nigiri, especially tuna and salmon belly. This is really good sushi and I highly recommend.
Made a booking for 3 people and got a seat at the bar. Food was okay, service was okay. But there was a giant dead fly on the table.
Blah, bland Japanese served in a pretentious manner. Nothing special at all but you’ll pay a lot. Waiters and servers and busboys/girls all different people so everything muddled. Gaku Robata infinitely better.
food was good but price is too expensive and food size is very small
Not given the option of tap water, charged $22 for two bottles of water. Seated without wine list and had to ask for it twice. Mains came at seperate times and one dish was forgotten altogether. Asked if we received a dish that we never ordered. Disappointed by the service we received which is unfortunate when you are spending a lot of money. Food quality was great.
Fantastic food and service. Pricey, but worth it!
The food here was reasonably good, but we received very poor service from our waitress, who all but ignored us during our meal. The noise level from the music was very loud and made it impossible to talk. It had more of a night club feel than a restaurant, and though we have been to plenty of trendy restaurants, this one was over the top. It really wasn't a pleasant dining atmosphere or experience.
Exceptional food and cocktails. Staff very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back!
the main dishes were very tasty but desert were disappointing. Uzu ice-cream tasted like artificial . only green tea ice-cream was good.
This restaurant never fails and the service is great. As you enter there’s a lovely bar area to enjoy a drink while waiting for your table or friends to arrive.
Amazing food but unfortunately once we got given the food we were left and forgotten about . Had to ask for the drink menu several times. Could upsell a lot more in that way
Everything was absolutely fantastic. Food, Service, restaurant layout , decor and ambiance.
Definitely will be back and would recommend to others.
Excellent service on a very busy night
We had a few fussy eaters and it was no trouble to make changes to the set menu.
The food and atmosphere are excellent. It's a great place to celebrate or just grab dinner with friends.
Ein perfekter Abend mit sehr gutem Essen und Top-Service!
Service quite good from some people and quite uninterested from others. Sashimi and sushi good food items, mains unremarkable.
Visit to Sydney from USA before a cruise. Wonderful is all I can say. The prawn dumplings are so delicious.
Overall good food and atmosphere but the service element was somewhat lacking. Regarding the service - the wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable but the service approach is somewhat disjointed- one person takes your order, another brings your order and then one two other people stop by in the interim - very confusing approach. Also, when we checked in the hostess did not have a reservation and when we told her it was through OpenTable, she replied OpenTable doesn't always work at Sake - that was a first. Other than the unusual service approach, would recommend the restaurant- solid, modern Japanese cuisine in The Rocks area of Sydney.
The miso glazed tooth fish was life changing! Service was a bit slow, but we had a great night.
1) The restaurant lost my Open Table reservation.
2) We chose two sets of 5-course chef special at AU$75 each. The food was the worst I ever had in restaurants booked via Open Table.
3) Servers were unable to tell the ingredients used in the dishes provided.
4) Fish tempura was served as appetizer. Small bones were unable to be fully removed by the chef. When asked, the manager said it was normal to have bones.
5) steak was served as the main course but meat texture was below average, although the taste was not too bad.
6) the private collection of sake was overrated.
To conclude, go for something more authentic if you want to try good Japanese food.
Food is amazing and the place is really cool. Chef is very nice person and answer all question that you might have
Excellent food and very quick and great value for money
Nice food, but totally overpriced for the minuscule portions you get.
Better value elsewhere.
Great welcome by the whole team, excellent service throughout and the food was out of this world.
We chose to sit at the bar so that we could watch the chefs at work. This was the best form of food theatre, with precision knife skills on display!! We had great help with selecting the dishes from the menu and the food was superb. Excellent staff capped a perfect night for us. Not cheap but well worth the money.
Pretty good Japanese dishes amidst the lively atmosphere. Very popular and gets very noisy. Food takes some time to be served.
We ordered from the a la carte menu, including the eel and salmon sushi rolls, nori crisps, toothfish, pork belly and the dragon’s egg. Had high expectations given the price point of the menu ($20-30 per dish). However the food was ordinary/average and tastes similar to what we could otherwise have gotten at many other restaurants for a much lower price. The ingredients I could taste were fresh though, pity they were not enhanced to the level of sophistication implied by the price point. Service was great, and the servers were accommodating to our requests and often came by to ask how is the food and provided recommendations. Overall disappointing as the food did not live up to expectations.
We did not stay to eat in Sake
After being shown to our table we decided to leave before ordering.
The table was tiny, the room was crowded and noisy with loud bass music that would make it difficult to talk.
Not what we expect from an up market Japanese restaurant.
Great quality, creative sushi and other mains. We were there early (6pm) and sat at sushi bar.
I love the relaxed feel of this place, but it's cool and hip. Food was excellent. I would recommend it to anyone near the Rocks.
I came in on Friday with a couple of friends to celebrate my birthday. Amazing! Simply amazing!! The atmosphere, the service, the food! All fantastic. From the moment we walked in and were spoken to by a very polite lady at the front desk, to the finalising of our bill. Our waiter was very attentive, polite and easy going, and knew the menu well! The food waiters were also fantastic! The floor manager was on point, and very approachable. Also friendly and very professional!
The food was simply exquisite. I cannot describe how much I enjoyed my experience! Definitely will be returning.
The service is terrible here !! It's gone down since I was here last , I asked questions about some dishes the girl had no idea what was in it !
Than waiting about 20 min for a sparkling water
Food was average !
Buzzing atmosphere superb food and great service
Excellent food , however the service was lacking at times . Our drinks didn’t come on time to accompany the food , out of water a couple of times , for a restaurant this level was disappointing
Modern Japanese, great atmosphere, great for sharing plates. Booking essential.
Great service, even better food. Couldn’t fault this dining experience one bit. Will definitely be back.
Sake was fantastic and delicious as always. The staff were very attentive, with good service and promptness. It's expensive for Japanese food but so worth it!
Clearly a hot spot for millennials with a very extensive Japanese menu where sushi and specialty rolls are not the real stars. Great for peopfile watching, creative assemblies of fish, vegetables and sauces. One desert in particular outstanding. The egg.
Amazing service and sensational food.
