Sake Restaurant & Bar Hamer Hall
Sake Hamer Hall offers a delicious menu that can be truly experienced by tasting authentic Japanese dishes as tempura soft shell crab and wagyu teriyaki.
Dining at Sake is highly recommended for corporate events or parties, enjoying delicious cocktails and traditional Japanese beverages.
Sake restaurant and bar is spread over two levels. The restaurant can be experienced by sitting outdoors overlooking the view of Melbourne’s CBD, or indoors with spacious seating options such as booths or timber chairs and tables.
Sake is perfectly positioned just a short distance away from attractions such as Flinders Street Station, Federation Square and the Melbourne Arts Centre.
I always love this place.
i decided to bring my partner here and they disnt dissapoint..
A belated Birthday attached to a performance at Hammer Hall. Brilliant evening. Thank you!
I went for a special dinner with my daughter before the ballet. The food was fantastic, and so beautifully presented. The service was excellent.
Location is terrific, right on the south bank and many of the dishes are quite unique. Sushi and sashimi menu was more limited than I expected but everything was very fresh. The other specialty items on the menu were all a tasty surprise.
Food was awesome I will be back for sure, service was excellent and the menu was easy to read
Food was fantastic as usual. What we like about the place is that while food is interesting there are still options for more conservative dinners (ie children). The location in Hamer Hall is also fantastic, and makes Sake our families traditional pre/after show restaurant.
I have dined here a number of times. Sensational food and service. If you can get a seat at the bench, it is fabulous to watch the team in action. Great for an early eat before seeing something at the The Art Centre.
Attended for a pre theatre meal. Very impressive service making it free of any stress about being late for the play. One of the best tempura meals we have had. Side dishes also excellent.
Surprisingly great! Good location and view. Great ambience.
It was the perfect place to have an early Christmas dinner as my family is traveling for the summer before Christmas Day
Great place to dine before a concert or theatre. very creative menu.
Great japanese restaurant sitting alongside the river in Melbourne. The fish is as good as anywhere - good sushi moriawase and special rolls. Also the lamb chops are exceptional. Good wine list.
Fabulous food, delicious cocktails, great service, very efficient at organising the meal so we could make the start time of the play comfortably
Great night out-5 stars!
public holiday surcharge on Easter Sunday? No notice given at reservation so extra $70 on bill - only aware at payment time.
Popcorn prawns, popcorn prawns! It is a must to try. Sensational gyoza.
Great place to go before attending a performance at the Melbourne Arts Centre. The food is delicious and you have a wonderful view on the Yarra River. Especially the miso glazed "glacier 51" toothfish was simply divine!
The food at Saké is always great and the service is very good.
Despite having booked we were first placed outside on a very hot evening, then perched on bar stools before a second request for a table inside was finally granted. From then on except for a reminder needed about one item ordered, everything went well. Food ordered tasted good.
We had a lovely pre theatre meal with friends. Food is truly delightful, every dish. The service was prompt and they were aware of our time restrictions so it was a smooth exit. It will definitely be our new favorite pre theatre or anytime great night out place to go. Thanks Sake.
Great food its not a cheap eat but for a special occassion highly reccomend
Lovely venue with good food and service. A long time favourite of mine.
Service took AGES
Beautiful Japanese dishes with modern flair. Efficient and friendly service. Loved my sake cocktail. Highly recommended.
My sister and I came across this restaurant after seeing it's reviews online. I have to admit the price was mid to high end for us, but worth every bit in my perspective; together we had 4-5 glasses of umeshu to accompany our entree of salmon sashimi and ume no hana set, and the bill came down to $200 exact. The food was beautiful and each dish served in a timely manner so that we weren't overwhelmed; we had been to another Japanese where the dishes were less well timed and our table overflowed. The atmosphere was fantastic, quiet and easy to carry out conversation without the need to raise our voices; although there was only 1 other table in the restaurant, so not sure if the quietness changes with more of the restaurant occupied. The waiting staff were welcoming and thoughtful.
The only regrets were that, neither of us could finish the mushroom hotpot and I was unable to finish my soft shell makimono, not because they weren't delicious but rather due to us having our eyes bigger than our stomachs (probably shouldn't have ordered the salmon sashimi for entree).
Essentially we both enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the staff members, and believe the price was absolutely warranted. We will most definitely visit again if we get another chance to visit Melbourne. 10/10 would recommend.
World class modern Japanese cuisine. The fresh ingredients combined with some great flavours were complemented excellent service and a refreshing "signature" cocktail. This is also a good venue for pre-theatre dining as well as special occasions.
So many choices - so we picked the banquet menu and it was really more than we could eat - and everything was delicious and innovative - will definitely go back again.
We really enjoy sake and have been many times. In the past the manager at Sake gave me a VIP card to use for further bookings, I tried to use it on my last visit, to be told that it was no longer in use. I’m not sure why I was given it in the first place?. I feel frequent customs should be given something for there loyalty.
Over priced and unexciting. Service was quick and good. Drinks menu was good but again, overpriced
As I have indicated on the chart, everything was very good and, particularly on this occasion, as we had a pre-theatre meal, it was ideal.
Always good food & service - safe, always know what you get
The food, service and atmosphere was great. We were compelled to linger after for a few more drinks.
Sake is a wonderful dining experience. A great view of the city and top quality food, Sake is a must!
A classic in Melbourne, great late night option after a show. We arrived 9.40pm and were not rushed. Benji was wonderful with service. Great to see our feedback from last time (still water v tap water offering) had been taken on board and was corrected. This restaurant and its food are an absolute delight.
Beautiful food and wonderful, friendly service. Good selection of wine. A very pleasant occasion.
Great sushi plate. Was a stand out and good variety of fish
My wife and I were there for a pre-theatre meal. The front man inquired immediately about the time that we wished to leave. We had the gyoza (very nice) and the baby octopus (on the chewy side) for entrees. For the mains we had the tempura snapper and the duck breast (both delicious) and the chocolate cake with raspberries for desert (also delicious). We shared all plates and were both full.
Quality of food has gone down hill. Sick the next day
Food as usual was excellent. Service was a little scattered on this occasion, but has always been excellent in the past. Overall an excellent dining experience and bang on time to get to our show!
