Sake Restaurant & Bar Eagle Street Pier
Great food. The service was not up to scratch especially when you are paying extra for Sunday service.
Better value than the prices might suggest. We did 4 mains and 4 entree between 7 and in hindsight needed another 2 mains. But that left room for their amazing deserts which are not to be missed.
Cocktails were very good and interesting. Wine by the glass slightly on the expensive side but nice wine.
That was our 2nd visit and we will be back.
great sake list and great venue, average food and therefore overpriced.
The service at Sake was fantastic. Wine list was brilliant with some incredible wines including the 2017 Pierro Chardonnay from Margaret Valley, WA. The decor was beautifully thought out however music was a bit much and didn’t necessarily fit the scene. Sashimi was lovely however the Barramundi and Trevalley missed the mark compared to the Kingfish. Surprise dish of the night was the Kimchi Gyoza. Interesting combination that makes a lot of sense on the palette. Overall a very good experience for a special occasion however the quality of food could be better considering the cost.
We got the chef's new classic meal with edamame and oysters to start and both left hungry. We're not huge eaters with an insatiable appetite, it just wasn't a lot of food & we weren't advised to order extra. We're happy to pay up for a nice meal but on this occasion really didn't feel like we got value for money. The food was nice but not great (maybe Nobu spoilt us?), the servings were small, and the ambiance was underwhelming. I wish we had chosen somewhere else for our special dinner to celebrate what is actually a HUGE milestone for us. Pretty disappointing.
The food was very expensive for the type and size. The service was OK.
Went to Sake to celebrate a graduation, the food was delicious (we had the tasting menu) - though portions were smaller than expected. Our server was lovely and kind in terms of explaining the dining options and how the restaurant served food. Ambience was warm, value was fair enough - given that this was marketed as “fine dining” and was a special occasion.
Honestly, my only nitpick was that food from the tasting menu was served on a single shared plate, I’d very much prefer individual portions instead, divvying out food is always a bit messier at the table, especially when done by tired, hungry people. But there’s always Sono for that.
Faboulous experience that I would recommend to everyone I know and also to those I don’t know but have just met.
Do think it’s a bit harsh that my comment here needs to be 50 characters or more but hey, I could go on for hours about how wonderful our night at Sake was!!! Thank you for making my date a perfect experience xx
The location is stunning and the food delicious.
I tried the pop corn uramaki and I recommend to taste with a cold sakè. I can suggest only to extend the sushi uramaki options, anyway I'll come back for sure in my next trip in Brisbane.
Recommended by a family member we decided to try it while we were in Brisbane, the food was great, the service was good, meal prices were OK but the wine was over the top.
over priced for satisfactory food
wont be going today
Excellent service and food. The service is quick and attentive. They will make almost anything Gluten Free.
Fantastic fresh food and very attentive service. It is pricey but you pay for quality.
The staff at Sake are clearly passionate about where they work and delivering a nice experience for their customers. The food is excellent - good variety of sea and land food - great presentation - delicious taste. One for the foodies! For Brisbane the prices are higher than average - but I think thats fair because the experience is worth it.
A wonderful restaurant that had the best, reliable, honest, accomodating service with great recommendations and even better food!
For a lover of Asian cuisine I thought Sake was very overrated. The food was average for the price you pay. I didn’t appreciate being sat in the conference area at the back of the restaurant as it lacked ambience. If this is the best Brisbane has to offer then we’re in trouble.
We have been to sake a few times and we love it. This was the first time for lunch and it was beautiful the lunch bento special is great value for your money.
Overall overpriced and not a good value
After booking online and requesting a table then calling to confirm that my request for a table had been received I arrived for date night (First date) to be seated at the bar side by side. The food was good but there was a 10min delay between the arrival of my main meal and the arrival of my partners. Service was far too lousy for the price you’re expected to pay $200 for a night that could have been a lot better... won’t be back.
Been to Sake many times, was our favourite restaurant not any longer. Food, service, seating was not very good!
Very haphazard service. Got seated at a table that was basicallly in a corridor and then forgotten about. Had to hail the waiters down. Disappointing overall.
Beautiful food, great service but very noisy and not a good place for romance
High quality food but a little on the expensive side for the portion size.
After booking a table for 2 online we arrived to be seated at the bar. Open Table does not have an option to choose the type of seating, so 2 bums on seats it is.
The staff were very apologetic, the manager even offering us an exciting experience at the kitchen counter but it was date night so we moved on to IL Centro.
I enjoyed Sake, I love the Sydney branch and found this 'ok'
I would try it again because normally it's better than that
Great night with friends and again the service was exceptional. Scott seems to go out of his way to make the experience top notch every time we visit!
Food never misses!
Great experience once more here. Still not as good as Wasabi in Noosa, though very close now.
Definitely the best Japanese restaurant in Brisbane. Great for catching up with a group of friends, or just taking the missus out for a long overdue night out. Excellent service and reliable taste.
Expensive for small portion sizes.
Great experience from start to finish. We received excellent service from both the door staff, waitress and cashier. Food and drinks came very promptly (probably helped that we had a 6pm booking, as it got quite busy after that)and it was all very tasty and well-presented. Noise levels from the Belgian Beer Cafe outside were high at times, but that's not the fault of Sake. They made our anniversary dinner a very special occasion, and I would recommend them to anyone.
Perfect from the service to the food. No more to say.
I didn't find the restaurant to be value for money and the service did not match the expectation I had for this restaurant.
The waitress suggested the most amazing array of share plates, outstanding experience
Very much miss the old menu -not at all happy with the new menu and the more expensive prices.
Been a customer at Sake frequently over the last 10 years and to be honest left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed it seems like the menu has changed dramatically and we have lost all our Sake favorites so over all very disappointed and won't be rushing back anytime soon to be honest 😕
Online booking experience was very good.
Phone reception to confirm the booking was very bland, no warmth at all.
Greeting was good, service by the wait staff and the floor manager was excellent (In fact, fantastic). Our wait staff was from Holland.
We sat at the "Chefs bar' and enjoyed interaction with the kitchen.
We were underwhelmed sadly. It was our daughter's birthday, and we noted this on the booking form in addition to requesting a sunken table. But we found out on arrival that you do not have the sunken tables available on Mondays. The birthday was not even not acknowledged. Service was pleasant, but not exceptional. I don't think that the waitress had been appropriately briefed on the menu and/or was new. Food okay. Overall too pricey, and we felt hurried. We'd rather go back to Sono.
As it was a rare date night for my wife and I, we were delighted to enjoy such wonderful food, which took our minds back to past trips to Japan. Sensational evening, thanks for making it such a special night
The food was amazing, staff were very pleasant and attentive, pricing was as expected for this level of dining.
service was slack, took us 20 mins to get a drink and when we asked for the bill took another 20mins to get back to us. food was good but didn't even have the selection of food we wanted from menu online. they didn't have menu for their new 'set menu' so we didn't know what food we were having they just rattled them off quickly. was very pricey for only 7 courses.
Sensationally presented and tasting food. Sake is a must do. You will pay for it but its worth the occasion. Watch the chefs prepare your meal, they are exacting and precise.
