We offer a menu based on traditional dining experiences in Lebanon where small to medium sized dishes are shared amongst the table. The food is authentic but done with a refined approach and a deft interpretation of a classic cuisine. The plate size encourages sharing in the traditional dining style of Lebanon.
Really well spiced food and excellent service. Really well spiced food and excellent service.
A pleasant space , and charming service.
Food generally good, particularly the salads.
Only real complaint was that the cheese cigars and the chicken wings were excessively salty.
Having eaten at Rumi a couple of years ago I was quite excited going back. Unfortunately the food quality wasn’t at the same level. Possibly a bad night? Service was great though.
Great meal and great team to look after you. Loved the banquet!
Rumi never disappoints. Food and drinks are delicious.
I enjoyed the food but a friend though the lamb dish was a little dry.
the mocktails were fantastic.
Went here with two other couples and we loved it. The food was great and reasonably priced. Will come back to this restaurant
Thank you for an incredibly memorable food experience. The food and Rumi drink was so tasty and and mouth watering, we talked about it for days. Thank you
Had a romantic dinner for NYE and loved it as usual. Food is always delicious - lamb shoulder is definitely a stand out. Still my favourite restaurant.
We went to Rumi’s for New Years Eve dinner. The food was all delicious and the vegetarian in our party was easily accommodated for. Service was also excellent.
Unfortunately the lamb was chewy.... it's usually incredibly tender, so we were a bit disappointed, not the usual rumi standard. And our zucchini was undercooked
Very tasty Middle Eastern food with a modern twist in a pleasant space. Very noisy.
Great food, excellent service & gluten free options - the best combination for pre-Christmas group dinner.
Normally Rumi is excellent - food, service and ambiance. We made the mistake of going in the week before Christmas. Food was well below par. Disappointing.
Only wish was that our table of 4 was only people there as noise levels rose
Definitely will return
Great food, fantastic service, 100% satisfied diners. Couldn't recommend more.
Small serves but great taste. My two big eating boys could have eaten a lot more than recommended.
We opted for the set menu and it was delicious! There was a wonderful variation of crispy tasty filo cigars, crunchy baby scrimps to the spicey lamb and tasty chicken portions. The salads were fresh, the pickled veggies mouth watering. The Rumi cocktail with pomegranite juice was absolutely cooling on a very hot evening! Great food and drink in Brunswick!!
Delicious food. Good recommendations from the wait staff re quantities etc. Wine was a little pricey.
very good food with excellent service, food was tasty with some creative dishes.
Food and service was amazing, its just unfortunate that we had the 6pm session and they were trying to rush us out.
Will definitely be back, great food and service. Thank you
Great food, good fast service. Had an enjoyable meal with delicious food. Fairly noisy so be prepared for that.
Second visit in recent months. Another great meal. We had the classic banquet this time, delicious, and so much food! Service is friendly & efficient, but being a Saturday it was very busy and there were a couple of times where we struggled to get attention, however it was understandable and didn’t spoil the evening. We had a lovely time.
Service was exceptional, friendly and accommodating.
Food was everything I had hoped for, varied flavours and taste was excellent, fresh and beautifully presented.
Will be back again.

Great food and service. We have been to Rumi's a few times now and love having the banquet. A great place to eat, drink and have a good time any night of the week.
The food is always exceptional at Rumi, one of the very best restaurants in Melbourne.
This was our second dinner at Rumi after having had a pretty good experience in August. It was a Mr. Hyde performance. The food was poor. For example, we ordered mackerel which totally undercooked. The other dishes were not much better. In general, the portions are now tiny and by far not as tasty as back in August. It's an expensive place and we felt we did not get good value for the price we paid ($215 for 4, with one drink each). Service was lackluster. Sad to see how a good restaurant degenerated in such a short period of time. Would not recommend it and won't return again.
Food was amazing! Loved the ambient a quietness since I don't like eating in loud and noisy environment. 10 out of 10!
Great experience, with delicious middle eastern food. Great staff too.
Caught up with a friend for dinner. Food was excellent - as has been in the past - lots of fresh & tasty dishes. The main problem is deciding what to get, it all sounds so delicious. They do have a tasting menu if you can’t or don’t want to choose.
Poor service! Ordered banquet. My friends arrived late. So the waitress was pushed for time. The table was too small to fit the food and so they kept asking if the could remove food off the table when we hadn’t finished. When I asked for another table- there were empty ones... we didn’t get one. They even had to change one big plate which had lamb on it into a smaller one to fit the table. The table was booked for two hours- when 10 minutes were left, they got the remainder of the dish and stated that they needed the table in 10 minutes- then they offered us containers. It felt like a business..
We had a lovely evening. The good was delicious and kept coming. At the last minute was able to accomodate a vegetarian in our group with no worries. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Nothing was a problem. Overall, it was a great family birthday dinner.
The varied flavours and plating are mind-blowing!!
Delicious food and drinks, attentive staff, nice venue. I have eaten here many times before, most recently on Sunday night with my family for my brother’s birthday. Great venue for bigger groups as the food is fantastic for sharing.
Took Muslims quests from asia for dinner, and they thoroughly enjoyed the food and the restaurant ambiance. Price is reasonable. However, a bit far from town but convenient with a direct tram from the city stopping right infront of the restaurant.
Fantastic as always. Great Middle Eastern cuisine, excellent service and a nice relaxed ambience
Delicious food and very knowledgeable staff members
What a let down. I have heard so many awesome reviews of this restaurant. Sadly our experience was terrible. From the waiter leaning on the table, to cold supermarket lebanese bread being served with the most unpleasant olive oil I have ever tasted, the whole experience was abysmal. The noise level in the dining room was so loud we had to shout at each other to carry out a conversation. The pickles and olives that were served with the first course in our banquet consisted of two pieces of beetroot, two pieces of cauliflower, and two olives. The rest of the dishes were warm (tepid at best), and lacked any real middle eastern flavour or excitement. The slow cooked lamb shoulder (which by all accounts the restaurant is famous for) was so dry that I couldn't eat more than a mouthful. The four accompanying charcoal chicken wings were simply that. Four, chicken wings that had been cooked over charcoal. No real flavour, no spice, nothing exciting. The accompanying salads were lack lustre at best... I don't really go to a Middle Eastern restaurant for coleslaw. The fried cauliflower was overcooked, dry and tasteless. The wait staff never returned to our table to ask how the meal was, nor did they offer to take a wine order, even though we had indicated at the beginning of the meal that we would order wine. The toilets smelled awful, and the corridor to the toilets was cluttered with old furniture and rubbish. There are no real dessert offerings except a $5 addition to our already $50 per head banquet, consisting of a piece of turkish delight, a piece of the most god awful pistachio Halva, and a poached apricot filled with labne... but for an extra $5 we could have a baklava ice cream sandwich... What a shame. I wouldn't reccomend Rumi to anyone, and I feel I have had better Middle Eastern food at many of the kebab shops on Sydney road. There wasn't a wow moment, nor was there anything that I will remember in a month's time, save the $120 price tag.
We had the seasonal banquet, 14 dishes for $60 which as excellent value. All very tasty, lots of variety and more than we could actually eat. Service was excellent, prompt and friendly.
